At the time that AKA was first making music he was one of the first in SA to introduce Hip Hop as a serious genre by an African. It was a new sound, a new idea that most were skeptical about. the moment that he started making money the competition was racked up pretty quickly. people were making better, smoother beats with more improved rapping quality. AKA kinds stayed in his ways and didnt really evolve his style and sound as everyone else who was experimenting at the time.
Wasn't the first to introduce it as a serious genre bro ... what about Skwata Camp , Pitch Black Afro , Proverb , Amo , Tumi , H20 , Tuks ,Pro kid , Teargas ... these are cats that kept hip hop alive in SA for hip hop heads not people that started listening after 2012

Jozi is short for Johannesburg it's the most commercial/industrial city in SA so he's basically saying they run that city. At that stage hip hop was beginning to gain traction as the major genre in SA but AKA had already been established. His music is commercial so basically you hear an AKA song everywhere in the clubs, radio, weddings etc. He's also one of the few rappers in SA who have their own authentic South African sound (Priddy Ugly is another example) so he doesn't sound like anything else that plays in SA. His come up songs are Victory Lap and All I Know, those will give you a better sense of how he's evolved

This wasn't when he was coming up. AKA has been popping since he was a teenager under a crew and he went solo. Basically he's been been consistent through out the years.

Your views are straight up, AKA is an artist you turn up too but never really can have on your playlists rotation. Though one of the most artistically gifted artists in SA, his music is not timeless. We jam AKA at clubs, house paties, good to drive too for a feel good vibe. One song i would recommend that is actually nice is AKA - I want it all ft Pro and Khuli Chana
When he released this song he was the biggest artist already in SA. There was no Cassper, and his songs played everywhere and topped the charts. K.O was also popping, they are the guys to make hip hop popular in SA a lot of people were listening to HOUSE MUSIC that time.
AKA is basically the bridge between old school SA hip hop and new school SA hip hop (the music on your channel) where he is still at the forefront, he gave rise to Cassper, his beef with Cassper gave Cassper a lot of attention, for example, his next album is his last album.
SA hip hop changed a lot under him, after he got in the game, guys like Cassper, Nasty C, basically all the people you reacted to, started popping and could make the music they make, that sound is new to local hip hop, before AKA no radio or TV was playing that, they were playing SA type of hip hop, the sound AKA still has even though there’s the new school feel to it. That is why he is still considered the best, not merely on his sound or music, but what represents to SA hip hop music. His sound is much more relevant to a South African audience too, I personally think that’s his weakness right now, but also a good thing because he resonates with both his old school and new school audience.
AKA is the single longest reigning hip hop act than any rapper in SA, since 2009. He’s basically our Drake. If you listened to Drake back then and now, you wouldn’t look at him a the same way based on his music, I see the same thing when you react to AKA. But yes, AKA is the best ever in SA, nobody in SA was listening to SA hip hop when he came up, but they were listening to AKA, still today they love him, a lot of the hip hop fans on your mentions are new school kids who started listening to hip hop when the aka/cassper beef blew up (major spotlight to hip hop in SA at the time) and picked a side from there. Anyway, won’t write an essay, but AKA is our Hov, our Drake, the architect of what all these guys in your channel are able to do, and the fact that even you are able to hear about them, this is crazy.
