Thanks so much and welcome! I have lots of song writing tutorials, check out my video about making a song from scratch on the peak of a mountain as a good start! 😊
Really well explained, and easy to follow. You have a great way of getting the essential information over to the viewer, without overwhelming them with too much detail or ambiguity. Great work! 👍
@@MilesAwayOfficial yes ive seen all of your OB6 and Prophet 6 videos, I went back and forth for a month straight watching and re-watching because I couldn't decide... but the decision was made for me when I was offered an OB6 in absolute mint condition for $2k USD! And ive fallen completely in love with it. Will be getting your patches as well!!
That´s a very good way to explain. There are choices and reasons to spread chords. It also shows how the instrument "suggests" what notes to play, but it always isn´t the best to get your idea across. I start from writing on an acoustic guitar. If the chord progressions are made, I then assign the strings/notes to different instruments in the daw. So only 2 or 3 notes are played by 1 instrument. That removes some clutter. Out of one guitar chord (6 notes at a time) 3 or even 4 instruments can be "extracted".
@@IvoSiem thanks for watching and that’s a great tip! It really is a fun limitation to try to limit your parts on the computer to what a human could actually play. It forces you to write more simple but interesting songs!
An excellent tutorial on chords. Thank you very much. You must have gained new experience in the meantime. It would be interesting to learn more about chords in electronic music.
U should do more content like this… btwww im looking for something that can compliment well my obx8, specially for bass and more plucks, P5 module is tempting a lot, what do u think? Mi idea would be to add the module on top of the obx and send midi from obx to p5
@@MilesAwayOfficial specifically how you start a track whether it's from the hardware first or the software? Also do you start with a drum groove or a pad etc and how you integrate your hardware into your DAW.
Thanks, very cool. Coming from the piano world I'd argue that triads also don't work in a piano. It's just an ugly way of voicings. Inversions and spreading the notes is always classier. I will try that tip of root + 5th on every scale to see if it sounds good as it does on ionian.
@@kinetic-cybernetic I appreciate the perspective from a piano background! I started doing this method as I came to synths from playing guitar first and have always loved Jangly open tunings, which this emulates a bit.
Thanks Miles! Gear vids are great, but I actually value tutorials like this more!
Glad to hear it!
love your music cause of your chord progressions. thanks for not gatekeeping and sharing the secrets
