  • Hi guys! I decided to do a side-by-side comparison of these two knives for your viewing pleasure and for your interest in case you’re thinking of taking the plunge and buying one of these bad boys. As for me, I think it is worth it. Also, sorry about the length of the video, it's a bit long.

That is a nice looking knife and when I checked it out on Buck's web site I found that is imported and that means from China and I don't want to buy any Chinese products any longer unless I don't have any options. For that reason I would not buy it and instead invest my money in an American made knife.

For me, a Buck product made in China isn't a Buck product. Same for any other old American name that stands for quality.

I wish they’d bring the Selkirk production to the US tho. I’ve got the small and it’s a fantastic knife one of my favorites despite the low price tag

I been carrying mine for 6 years or more..... I love it.... and I'm fussy!
You forgot to mention that the fit into the sheaf is adjustable. Also there is a dedicated part of the blade to use with the ferro rod.

    Nice setup.
I am curious about how sharp the spine of the knife is for striking the fero rod?
    Hope all is well.
    God bless

A folding knife that wants to be a fixed blade
And too bad buck use to be America's knife company, can't really claim that title now with a budget line coming from PRC
Their American made fixed blades are still of exemplary quality
I carry a woodsman, no complaint

John Banco thanks for watching ! Yeah I know it’s made in China, I was just too curious about it to resist, I do have some China knives, although I prefer to buy U.S. whenever I can. God bless!

Will the Selkirk 836 fit in the 110 sheath? Thanks.

I haven’t tried it, but I’m thinking no because it’s pretty thick around the middle.

What about a cordura sheath for this folder? Is it available, even for the smaller one?

    • @KnifeDetector
      @KnifeDetector  Рік тому

The Buck 110 cones with a cord it’s sheath standard in most cases, unless it leather . As for the Selkirk, I think we would simply need to find one that fits. Have a blessed day friend.

Had to give a thumbs down for the knife, not your review. The only reason being is, I was kind of interested in this big knife but the fact that Buck decided to make a supposed survival blade with the weakest lock, a liner lock, is a big no. Also the fact that if this is made in slave labor, disease ridden, virus making Communist China, then a big HELL NO! I can't stand that shithole country now. If it isn't made here, then I won't buy it. I know it's hard, but it is achievable if you do your research and look at the label on products (that and stop supporting Made in China/Invested in China Walmart and Made in China/Invested in China Amazon). Anyway, it's a shame because I like the shape of the blade and handle and like that it's named after the Selkirk Mountains in Idaho. I did score a three dot 1980-81 Buck 110 recently and it puts all of my other 110's to shame! Better steel with 440C and the squared off bolster make it heavier and stronger. It is built like a tank. It is what the 110 should look like with the squared bolsters making it more masculine as the rounded off bolsters almost look feminine to me.

You took this shopping? Did you think you might need to start a fire? Stab some supermarket products may be?

Well, I live in south Texas, 20 miles from the U.S. Mexico border, so, I like to be prepared :)

the selkirk is chinese trash. i bought it before i knew buck had out sourced to china & assumed ALL bucks were made in America. despite it being an outsourced model, the one i had was total junk. a good American Buck is the Vantage Avid, it also has several similar models that are all worth the purchase.
