I can’ believe how naive people are these days. They saw a small change, and they’re already thinking the danger is gone. They’re literally lambs. The chokehold got slightly looser and now they’re grazing as if the hands are still not at their throat.
Arguably, a suppression of woke is just as bad - the demons will do the same thing but under the radar.

The role of woke fact checkers can be illustrated with the King who wore no clothes and the experts and sages all said "what lovely clothes." An uncouth child said, "he doesn't have any clothes!" And the child is discredited as the naked king parades by and people keep praising him.
Literally, what happened when they fact checked AOC was crying in front of an empty parking lot. The fact check came back False there were cars in the parking lot. I'm glad Zuckerberg fired those shills.
I remember reading a version of the story that ended just like that, without the snooty fact checker showing up.

I worked for the one of the biggest banks in the US. The diversity officer was a white chic who you could tell has never done a hard days work in her life nor ever broken a nail. I think they figured out that was a bad look so they soon replaced her with a black dude.

GDPR isn't expensive to implement per se. You just have to design your website or application in a way that allows the removal of user data. It's only expensive to implement for those who hoard user data for sale.

My two counterpoints are first from experience and second from theory:

I don't think we are going to have more freedom just because politics are starting to lean right. Politicians are not right/left, they're in for only themselves, so they'll do what benefits them and their entourage. Beyond that, I think it's wishful thinking tbh. You gain freedom, or influence, by standing your ground when attacked, not because an aspiring millionaire douchebag is gonna hand it to you.

I would be fine if social media was system neutral and I could post what I like on any platform I want and the platform delivers my message the way they want. If I want censorship, then I use a censorship platform. If I want spicy, I use a free speech platform. If I want child friendly, I use that. I don’t want all the spicy words. I am comfortable with losing access to far right and far left content. But I don’t want you controlling what I post - the content is system neutral if you want it to be.
This is not that hard to implement. We have English words as the system neutral content. Now we just take the platform’s sole ownership of MY content away from them. Not an impossible task. If this makes social media cost money, great. I don’t like giving away my personal info for your profits.
I don’t see another way forward. Some people want to be corporate slaves. It’s a free country, let them. You don’t know how much freedom you need until you can’t use it.
