In addition to being really good travel guides, you two seem to be really in love, and that is beautiful.

You were exactly right. Those metal things were for scraping mud off of your shoes.

The Christmas festival that they do is really great. It is worth the admission.

Really liked this video, as I love historical places. My brother and an old friend were both traveling “re-enactors” at historic sites around the US. They had lots of fun but worked hard too . I thought about doing that work also after retirement.
Thanks for taking us all along “for the ride” and keep ‘em coming :)

At the visitor center where you go in, there had a tin of the best ginger snaps ever.

Thank you for this awesome video showing Old Salem! The only "Salem" I've been to is New Salem since I grew up in Springfield, IL. I love learning the history of NC! Many of my family are from the Gastonia area, and so NC will always have a very special place in my heart 💙

Hey there, New subscriber here just watched your last four videos in Winston Salem and loved them all, we live about 1 1/2 hours from there in Virginia and go there often for Dr appointments and shopping as we live in small Southwestern town with no stores except Walmart.
But you both sound down to earth and we love watching UA-cam and Restaurant reviews as we don’t get to go eat out much so we live through others. Keep up the good work. God Bless. ❤🙏🏻

We so appreciate your kind comment. We are glad that you enjoyed our videos from Winston-Salem. Those are actually the first videos from Winston-Salem that we've ever done, and I'm glad that it's somewhere you are familiar with.
Thank you for watching and for subscribing. Hope you continue to enjoy our content.

Very interesting area. Drove past many, many years ago. Btw on the hand pump should be able to prime the pump and it will work. But if you don’t have water to prime it, guess you won’t be coffee. We had a hand pump in the kitchen no running water. Mom kept cheese cloth wrapped around the spout area. Also after pumping you best have the handle all the way down to keep from having to prime. Still kept a can of water on the side for priming. Old places you bring to us are fantastic and works the memory and imagination. Thank y’all 😊

Derrick and Shawnasi, this looked like a very neat place. This is the kind of place that we like to go to. There are several towns in PA that were settled by Morvians they are beautiful towns, too. This reminds me of Colonial Williamsburg. The iron attachment on the front porch is for cleaning the mud off of your boots. Thanks for taking us yo this wonderful place. I didn't know about this place ay all. I really enjoyed this. Thanks, and God bless.

Thank you for all the Winston Salem videos.
Derrick, yo got me to thinking about people born in the 1800s. So I did a check. A lady from Italy was born Nov 1899 and passed away in 2017. She was thought to be the last person born in the 1800s.

Loved this place. Would like to visit sometime. There is a town here in PA. that was also founded by the Moravians. The thing on the porch was a bar to scrap shoes and boots off before going into the house. Loved the video😊

Great video. I bet they would make more money if they charged $10 a person. Many people skip it due to the price.
I went there as a kid as well and remember the ceilings being very low in some buildings.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  6 місяців тому

Yes, we honestly thought $30 a person was a bit steep. I'm just not willing to pay that. Not for the number of buildings that you are allowed to go in.

That thing on the porch is a shoe scraper, so you don't bring mud in.
