Well i did buy one to check it also, today i was driving at the park all the time full speed on grass and on concrete it ran good on till battery was emtpy on 15min or more...what i only did was change grease and put more new grease on the gears and diff, tomorrow i will drive the car again and will see if i get the same problems like you did have, i hope not but the car drive,s very fast
Good to see i'm not the only one with issues, i reviewed the X03 Truggy version of this yesterday and had the same exact issues after about 7mins driving, the motor for this one looks like the ones in the Xinlehong 16th scale Q901-3 models and cant take the load of this larger 12th scale truck..the gears on mine where not meshing that great as i was trouble shooting it in my video! i don't recommend this one neither
If the motor gets super hot then the magnets can lose some of their strength, which increases the kv of the motor and reduces the torque and efficiency.
Fair review. It was doing so good for a cheaper rig and had all those metal parts. Then it was a let down. Good job on pushing it so we could see what it could take 👍
seems like its just not fit for the chassis with that motor, maybe if it was smaller buggy wheels on it like the 1:14th scale wltoys 144001 or 1:10th scale onroad wheels the motor would survive better, but its more like a 1:16th scale brushless motor size there for sure. if the esc truly is a 40a one stick in a 1:10th scale 3300 kv motor in there if it fits.
10:21 Isn’t that just a low voltage battery indication? My xinlehong and hbx 1/12 does that too when the battery is getting really low, it would still run when picked up / no load, but not enough power to move on ground because the battery need to be charged.
I had high hopes at the beginning . Seemed to be doing well in the back garden . But thought I could hear something up with it then . If it could have the motor issue it would be an awesome skate park basher
I ordered one of these, but after seeing 2 vids demonstrating the gears stripping after a few runs, I quickly e-mailed Banggood to cancel my order, now I got the HBX 16889 coming instead, which is apparently Bulletproof.Shame cos I wanted a 1 10 truck, maybe my next purchse will be 1 10. ZD Racing Pirates 2 looks like a nice car!!! So did I do the right thing cancelling the X04?
Nice review! 💯👍🏻👍🏻 Interesting how much it resembles the xinlehong Q901. I’ve had none of those problems with it, although I haven’t tried to put oil in the shocks. The story I’ve heard about the oil is if it is shipped by air it can’t have oil, if by sea it’s ok. However they may just prep them all for air. Have a great day and be safe out there!
Tomley RC I’ve seen several people use grease but I haven’t tried it. I buy a lot of 18650 batteries and the ones that arrive by air have a special sticker in addition to the manufacture’s label. Have a great day and be safe out there!
Nice vid! I was looking for a nice rc ramp, and the one you are using in this video seems to be big enough for most 1/10th scale cars. Would you mind telling me which company makes this? Thanks!
Ha, found this video after searching another model. was thinking actually could be a good car to get.... until the issues. So, what would you recommend for something in the same price range that is definitely worth the money? Looking for something that will be good on long beaches, etc. And maybe good enough for playing in the sand dunes too. Cheers
Hallo, Thanks for sharing this with us… 🙏👌 Yes, you are absolutely right about all the speed advertisement with RC models. Seems a little bit to me like the manufacturers are keep on outbidding each other more and more: "Hey, they say 40 km/h, so we have to say 50… at least…!" 😂😉😎 It is a little bit nerving, but also fun, because when you are trying to promote your models with realistic feature statements, you have to keep on explain the same again and again to people; not only about speed, but about runtime and other features, also… So, your judgment about 50 to 60% of given speed figures seems quite right to me… 👍 You are also right about the shocks; seeing the performance of the truck within your video I agree…some higher viscosity oil would be a good way to go… And please 🙏 , do not feel offended when I disagree with your idea of getting more tension to the springs. This does not really effect the "stiffness or damping" of the suspension, it mainly increasing the ground-clearance; technically/physically springs do have a given stiffness rate and this can not be affected by more or less tension; one of the most common misunderstandings when it comes to suspension setup tuning with racing vehicles in RC… But I am very sure that you know this fact about springs, and you just mentioned this in your video a little misunderstanding… 😉 Sorry, for being dogmatic "teacher like"… Keep on having a good RC time and stay well…! 🍀 Best regards from Germany, Thorsten 🌞
Yes Thorsten, you are correct about the springs. Although by increasing the spring rate/tension , it may have made it a little less bouncy. Certainly needs a thicker oil. Thanks for watching, and don't worry about offending me, your comment was good to read, I like to hear others thoughts and knowledge.
It seems like alot of these Chinese rc's ship with shocks that are almost oil shocks, but they're missing the seals and/or diaphragm. Guessing it's an easy way to make shocks that look really cool, but not have to go to all the expense of sealing them up.
Its the ESC/RX combo box thats the problem with this truck I have one too and I am tearing out the ESC/combo box buyin a flysky RX and a brushless shaloman ESC and rebuilding it with good electronics the motor is actually a fairly decent brushless motor....... I get plenty of speed out of mine & it tears up the dirt and rocks biigtime.....
Can anybody tell me also where you can buy spare parts for steering component on the photo below you see the broking one i can not find it where i can buy new one,s its fine to have a book for spare parts, but there is nothing on it to go where you can buy it from :(..........i need some help for it
Just wanted to say that all lipo batteries are lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion ist the physical principle these batteries are based on. Can you probably do a proper review on the tamiya dt-03t chassis? The aqroshot is a pretty cheap but decent hobbygrade rc that might be good for beginners like me. But there aren't that many reviews for it out there. At least I can't find much of them.
Yeah, very similar... although Li-po's do preform better than Li-ion. Plenty of DT-03T videos out there. Pete Wylie has some good ones and Rob Brennan :)
Loving the writing on the boxes of these Chinese RCs "Wheel twist angle is flexible and changeable" WOW! Loving that little Bimmer in the background and will the Landy be back soon buddy? 😁👍
Ooh so buy cheap buy twice as my mum says. That juddering motor is a bit like the Gool one I had. Be better to have a reliable brushed one with shocks that don't leak like an FTX Carnage or something. Anyway very useful review. When you get a minute, can you send me your votes for the lockdown video contest. Many thanks 😀
I got a similar truck from Aufik not the best quality I have a Traxxes also and it’s so much better and fun free of poorly made components wish I just saved the cash ,now saving for a Traxxes rustler 4|4 brushless.
I think they try to make these Chinese cars look like there quality rc’s but ultimately your going to need to put a lot of upgrades on them to make them last and be durable. Probably better off to spend a little more upfront and save yourself the hassle.
I still like my Tamiya models better. They're the only RC company I can throw a Sidewinder brushless Castle system in and be okay with stock parts. No metal gears just ball bearings that's it on upgrades. I mean if you're going full speed and throw it in reverse it will skip. But you're not supposed to be doing that anyways if you don't have brakes never reverse if no brakes LOL. But as long as you don't throw it in reverse it is one of the most solid cars just quality.
The quality control on these is shit. I didn't have any of the issue that you've mentioned here and I've taken mine to the BMW park and bashed the hell out of it. But straight out of the box it's had an issue where it will randomly pull in either direction while driving and it's every time I use it. Makes going straight hard. But I figure a new Servo, transmitter and ESC and hopefully we'll be back in business.

It may well of been a fault with the ESC... but it wasn't the normal Low Voltage cut off, and it was a fully charged battery.

Great unboxing and review bro! The truck looks nice and ok, greased, just to see what happened! Have a great weekend bro!!
Cheers dude... yeah, shame it broke
Just wondering what your rethink on the Xinlehong is, a real pity it did not fare as well as the HBX and the MJX Hyper Go.
The axle drive cups are held by screws that are lose
Yeah I put a 80 amp on and it's twice as fast. Now it has a 120amp and 5900kv and taller tires. About to test

Any updates on this RC Car and why it stopped working mate?
Not yet mate, not had a chance to look. But pretty sure it's over geared
Looks cool
Can you mount the servo on the other side of the chassis, then fit a bigger battery?
Not sure, possibly
I wonder if a cheap goolrc brushless motor would fair better?
Yes, may be worth a try

It's pretty cool @140 to 150.....I heard some noice in car..... except that video is awesome.... thanks for sharing.

I've not had many 'Chinese' supplied shocks that haven't leaked
If you hit something the gps messes up and it is not accurate
Check soldier joints on motor and esc connectors
Joints are all fine. It may be something within the ESC as it acts like it has a cable to the motor loose/disconnected

What type of absorbers oil you use sir?
600cst Silicone
So what do you do In this case, I’m thinking of purchasing something from banggood soon, did you return it or just swap out the electronics?
Well as this was sent for review then the returns are not the same. But if I'd bought it I would be putting in a returns case.

Does it come with a charger
Yes, a USB one I believe
I've been thinking about buying this on Banggood for a few days now but after this review I will buy the FTX Bugsta instead
Bugstas a much better choice, much bigger and better quality, good part support as well, quite heavy though so gears struggle
It does self righting with bigger tires better then a xmaxx..I show it in a few videos js
On my Wltoys 12428 on the box say 30km/h and it got 42.so that was good
Most of the 12428's said 50km/h... maybe they have changed it lol
Question...i really new to the hobby so my Q is ..can you put cooking oil in shocks?(obviously if you Dnt have proper oil)
