Nick, I'm a subscriber and a solid fan of yours, but unless things have DRASTICALLY taken a bad turn since I was in Pikeville (on business 5 years ago for a WTE company), I found the city to be very scenic and somewhat of a gem. As a college town, the University of Pikeville offers a medical school, plus there's a regional convention center that holds diverse events that brings in good revenues for the city as well. I'm not saying drugs aren't an issue there, but I guess it seemed as though you didn't highlight Pikeville's good attributes and VERY interesting physical history of the city, as well. Again, all in all I think you do a great job with your videos, just thought you may have misjudged Pikeville a bit :)
Would love to see you unbox the territories. Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Northern Marianas Islands, US Virgin Islands (emphasis on Little St. James Island)
Can't believe people says that Ky is boring!! Live in a rural area and there is plenty to do!! Watch cows and horses quietly graze the beautiful pastures, go to the lakes and all the beautiful parks! Sit on the porch and just listen to the sounds of a quiet country life!! Watch the birds, turkeys, deer and other wildlife anytime anyday!! Not all about hearing sirens all day and all night, it's more about living in peace and quiet, visiting with neighbors and friends, That is the Ky I live in and love every minute!!
All that's cool and all but yeah that's boring after a while. No theme parks and nothing to do. That's why so many people are on drugs. It's great if you're old as dirt and can't do anything anyway
It's them city folk. I grew up in the city and country and I choose nature. All the stuff to do gets to be too much. My brother found that out and eventually started moving back to the country
I've been living with my wife and son here in North Eastern KY in Ashland. I consciously moved from St. Louis, MO during the pandemic and I couldn't be happier. The people are super kind, the cost of living is very affordable, and I'm surrounded by beautiful hills. I'm a 5 minute drive from Ohio, and about another 10-15 from West Virginia. The Tri-State area is one of the best places to be in Appalachia. We have plenty of restaurants and all the businesses we need to thrive here. I think it's one of the most underrated areas of the nation!
@@eddiemoore8468 You can say that again. This region took a real blow when that happened. I've talked to a lot of the locals who used to work there - this town used to have a lot more hustle and bustle! Overall though, I still find I love living here. It has a nice downtown area and it has a very rural feel to the place. But I'm getting older and tend to just go to church or work at home so it fits me just right.
Yeah I'm from Carter County (county next over) and was thriving working out of a labors union in cattletsburg...working in Calgon, Special Metal's in Huntington, AK Steel and Marathon but that all ran out for me about 10 years ago so had to start working on the road but I LOVE being from Appalachia...beautiful here
@@johnathanreynolds7008 Olive Hill is a nice little town. I love the Carter Caves area, and also that little pizza joint in town...Tyler's was pretty good.
You showed an entire portion of “Somerset” that was actually annexed into Burnside. There’s a culinary school there and plenty of restaurants. And all the pictures you showed are only out skirt pictures. If you’ve been to Somerset, Ky, then you know that most of the social life is centered around the strip of Somerset where there’s plenty of stores and downtown where they have the car show every year and plenty of other events and nice dine in restaurants. Not to mention the expansive community college in the middle of town that has bridge programs with multiple universities.
Somerset is a booming little place in the middle, (on the strip) and there is more culture than you think. The problem is the cops do the bare minimum or are on the take. If you are smart and willing to work it is a killer place to live. GREAT Mexican food on the strip just off highway 27. Tons of other places to eat also but they could use a better mall and more nightlife. They're are clubs and bars with live music though....at least 10. They could use better cops, a bigger skate park and a decent concert arena. With a few more factories and those things it would be a lot like Lexington in a way.
That’s definitely not the worst places to live in Kentucky. Somerset is one of the top rising cities in the state. People come from other towns to Somerset to shop and eat. I’ve been all over the state and lived in Kentucky my entire life. When I flew into Lexington from being out west I remember how beautiful and green it was from the sky. I was so happy to be home. Kentucky is a great place to live. I wouldn’t live anywhere else. There is poverty everywhere but its not like people make it out to be. It’s just friendly, hard working people.
Lived in Kentucky my entire life. Louisville for 18 years. Anyone who says there are worse places than Louisville have not lived anywhere near downtown, or south west Louisville. A few rough areas in Lexington too, but anywhere else in Kentucky, pretty nice and friendly.
Moved to central Ky from Cali. Ky is a awesome state to raise a family. The filthy California makes Ky a 💎. Know more looking in the review . I’m now in state where they still have morals and can conceal or open to protect my family 😀 God bless Kentucky
@@anitacoyle137 Go live in a large urban city and get back to us. Philly is the most oppressive city I’ve ever seen. I lived in DC and Baltimore. KY is incredible. You can always move away. Go now…don’t delay.
We moved from Hollywood, FL to South, Kentucky. It's rough! Back in past the first holler It's lawless 😆 got a beater house on 5 acres w a 3 bay garage & a big pond for 22k 8yrs ago & love it ❤️
When I was a long haul truck driver, I went through KY many times. My favorite towns are the ones along the I-24 corridor. From what I remember, they weren't all that bad. My favorite small town was Cadiz. I always enjoyed my visits there.
I live 15 miles from Cadiz & 15 miles from #1 Oak Grove. Oak Grove is the city outside of the gates of Fort Campbell Military base and Oak Grove pretty much is right next to Clarksville, TN. The fastest growing city in the US.
On a positive, most of the worst places he mentioned are smaller areas. Many of the larger cities didn't make the list. The state is beautiful, and the outdoor recreation scene is pretty strong. Sadly, there is a drug problem. Many of the locals blame the easy access of chemicals due to the number of farmers that have to treat their fields. Mammoth Cave is a pretty cool place to visit. If you want BBQ, swing by Owensboro.
Paintsville is another cool place for outdoors stuff with Paintsville Lake...and Dewey Dam/Jenny Wiley state park nearby...I'll be retiring over there in a few yrs ..❣️
Sadly, small things lead to bigger problems in the long run. It's like a hemorrhagic tumor going from a malignant tumor to death. We're starting to see decay across America.
Well, I've been living in Kentucky over 5 years, and cannot complain at all except for the tornadoes (which are nothing compared to those ones in Oklahoma). Living here has been pleasant not only for me but for my family as well. The border line to Tennessee is about 15 minutes from my home, thus it's been also cool living under a some kind of blended Kentuckian-Tennesseean environment. Unlike many people may think, for me Kentucky is more than just bourbon and farm land. I love KY!!!
@@ArktischenAnd? Frequency, amount of EF4-5 etc all matters. It’s a fact OK is one of the worst states for Tornadoes. Also a long-duration tornado could easily pass through multiple states…
What county or general area are you in? Been looking at southern KY as most likely option for relocation and liked the idea or being almost equal distance from both major KY cities and Nashville + Knoxville
Take it from someone who grew up in KY, the eastern part of the state is rural and full of really hard working good people that would give you the shirt off the back. Yeah it's not the hustle and bustle of the city and not too many opportunities to work unless you know a trade or something. Lexington and the surrounding areas is full of work and some of the best restaurants in the whole Midwest. Western part more of similar to the east without the mountains and hills. Cost of living isn't too bad at all and if you are not like this guy and would like to get some land and live in the country then Kentucky is 1 of the best states in America. Yeah there is crime and gangs in the cities but that's everywhere.
So very true I live in South Central Ky I am about 10 miles from Bowling Green about 30 from Glasgow, Leitchfield, and Morgantown and 50 from Russellville and I can say he is full of 💩there is all kinds of good paying jobs in this area and crime is not near as bad as he is making it seem . I have lived here all my life and I have been to a lot of other states and none no better than KENTUCKY!!!
I grew up in Ohio on the Ohio river facing Kentucky. It's definitely an underated state. Seeing the rolling hills and bushy trees makes me home sick :)

Cap I love Kentucky and all but for the younger people it’s a crappy state to literally do anything. Maybe if you’re a home owner it may be different but if you rent in at least a few of the towns he said it definitely sucks
@D-Webb Suksnutz Oh come on! They are not so bad...break a few arms, nock out a couple teeth, maybe some mild choking here and there....besides, our Officers are just educating the scum of the neighborhoods. What wrong with that? Unless you are part of that neighborhood crowd that needs to be reminded to be a good little boy, or you will end up with bumps all over your pointed head...😂🤣😅😆
@Deano Oh sure!! And let me guess, the white man has held you down, that is why you are a grade school dropout, no job, no benefits, no retirement, you live on welfare, and been busted 50 times, innocent although you did it...right?
of the drives I did across America, my favourite states were Kentucky and West Virginia. The people and the landscapes are beautiful. There sure are some bad areas, but there are many more that are good for your soul :)
For anyone curious, the best cities to live in, 1, 2,4, and 5 are all located within 9 miles of me. Where am I located? Northern Kentucky, right across the river from Cincinnati. Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati share many aspects of the same economy. There are plentiful bars, stores, touristy areas with a ton of bourbon trails, and there are different flavors of neighborhoods to hang out in with many culinary wonders nearby as well. While there are very beautiful wildlife areas further south in the state, my corner of KY is by far the best and it shows! It is more expensive to purchase a house up here, just keep that in mind. Oh, and if you do decide to check out my corner of paradise, DO NOT BRING ANY TROUBLE, we all conceal carry around these parts and Kentucky has no "duty to retreat" laws on the books. Thanks for the great video!
pretty off base on Pikeville, Pikeville is continually growing and the city is doing amazing. Maybe you're referencing Pike County as a whole, but Pikeville is a great place to move to. College of Optometry, Densitry, Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a ton of growth going on in terms of new businesses and opportunities.
I was about to say the same thing. I live in Virgie in Pike County and it’s not too bad lol. Pikeville is certainly not bad, especially the growth and improvements they’ve had over the last few years.
Yeah. He say's that you're looking to pay like 89k for a home in Pikeville, but that's because downtown is the place to be. Good city school, a university, lots of businesses, and a pretty big hospital/healthcare presence. Of course, I said DOWNTOWN. It quickly shifts back to a more typical Appalachia leave the city limits. It can get rough, but the city and a majority of the surrounding area is nice and home to good people.
Pikeville: High property tax combined rate, plus a insane 2% City Occupation Tax on Gross Income, it’s ridiculously high taxes to live / work there. What’s the down low on the Water Quality and tap-water contamination rumors?
NAFTA killed the small towns in ky. I can remember when it went into effect. Poverty is rampant which often leads to the drug abuse but these small towns will come together helping the sick . Benefits for sick and victims of fire etc. Certainly won’t get that reaction in bigger towns.
Never could understand that NAFTA bull Shit 4 sure. I'm in manufacturing and I definitely noticed things changes and quick, went from USA to Mexico for 19 years then from Mexico to China. This Destroyed a lot of good businesses that employed hardworking people with good paying jobs. I'm sure a lot of politicians lined their pockets full of cash... 🤑 The very people that are telling us they're looking out for us. They definitely didn't do it for the average working person and family. ✌️
i live in somerset. it’s amazing here! i mean we have good shopping and good restaurants including the chalet, etc… i live 5 minutes away from downtown somerset and i love it! some places are shady but it’s nice! RECOMMEND LIVIMG HERE (from someone who had lived here for 11 years)

I have been to Kentucky twice, especially Louisville and Bowling Green, despite some bad things about it, I would still rather live in Kentucky than California. I would be closer to Nashville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and a few cities and it is not overcrowded and rude like most of California…..
I moved from Liberty Township Ohio to Monticello Kentucky. Nicest people ever. They are kind and go out of their way to help you. Nothing like the suburbs. You are correct about the limited things to do though.
@@tiffanytriplett5084 likewise. Check out the channel. You are more than welcome anytime. We are thinking about making some camping spots overlooking the lake as the people here say it's something the city needs.
@eugenesullivan394 Same as everywhere. Just let them know you can get to them as they can get to you and they will leave you alone. If you have lots of friends who will do your bidding if they get you first, that helps a lot as well.
I've lived in Kentucky all my life except for a short stint in the army Kentucky will always be home. I still live in Kentucky and have seen every part of it from end-to-end. I live in the western part of Kentucky but I have been to the Appalachians in the eastern part of the state there are a lot of amazing people. But don't go out there messing around with these mountain folk though they are hospitable and a lot of amazing they still have places to bury you that they haven't put on maps yet. So don't go there with bad intentions on your mind. Just saying
I’m from Kentucky and at one time or another I’ve been in just about every town you mentioned. I also live in a couple of the 5 best you listed. People living in the eastern part of the state have been taken advantage of for generations. They worked the coal mines until the politicians closed them down. There’s really no opportunity to grow up and out economically. I feel for the people living in the mountains. I worked in the strip mines as a rigger assembling heavy equipment when I was young. There is abject poverty everywhere you look. I spent a couple of months motorcycling around Mexico and the poverty in Kentucky is comparable to the poverty in Mexico and it shouldn’t be that way.
I live in Bowling Green Kentucky home of the Corvette and Western Kentucky University. It’s a pretty nice place to live and I’m very blessed to live here but crime has gone up dude now that we’d be in the third biggest city in Bowling Green. We also have the international center here, rent is absolutely outrageously expensive and like everything in the country all groceries and other items are going up but I really believe that we live in a big city with a small town feel
Thanks for the video! I guess like most states, drugs have gotten a hold on lots of towns, large and small. I've lived in central Kentucky my entire life and I love it, but you're right, there are many areas everyone should steer clear of. Gotta say, wouldn't wanna live in Memphis, Detroit, Little Rock, L.A., Seattle, Kansas City, Cleveland, etc., etc........Good people, STAY STRONG!!!
Nick, Mayfield KY is a amazing town! How can you say that Mayfield is the 2nd worst town to live in because of a tornado? This town is trying it's best to rebuild and move forward. There is tons of other jobs in the area too other than the candle factory. The crime is low, the income of the area is normal for the country average. My parents moved there about 10 years ago and I can't wait to retire and move there myself!!! The people are amazing and very resilient especially after a devastating natural disaster!! You should give a lot more thought about your opinion of what makes a town bad!
Glad to have read your comment. I think Nick does a good job qualifying his opinions, especially with an emphasis on how "a few people", in any location, making it bad for "everyone else." And he rightly falls back on the stats he has available. To your point, I like better his vids when he sits down one-on-one with a resident and asks questions. He very probably would've found out from a Mayfield resident exactly what you're countering here.
He’s not saying it’s a bad place to live because of the tornado, he just mentioned the tornado. He goes of statistics that anyone can look up online. Crime, poverty, unemployment school drop out rate and many other statistics. Has nothing to do with the mayfield tornado. I’ve never lived there but I’ve been to mayfield many times and I’ve always lived in Kentucky, it’s a great city, but all towns have their downfalls. He uses middle sized cities for the most part in these type of videos so don’t be offended. He’s just using the data that’s available to everyone online.
I'm proud to say I live in Oak Grove and it certainly doesn't deserve to be the worst spot in Ky. It's a very small town with not a lot of folks, three major roads and several businesses across from Ft. Campbell. A majority of the crime comes from our neighbor to the south, Clarksville, TN.
I am 69 and moved to Tn in 2002. Looking to get back to Marion Co, one of the counties that he put down along with the city of Lebanon. He most likely has never been to these towns, Just trying to make some video's to make some money.
Yeah, Louisville has some really good areas and there is a lot to do there, which is nice. My wife lived there for about 7 years, and then we lived there together for 3 years after getting married. Once we had kids we started thinking about things like schools, rampant drug abuse, and constant shootings in the city. We lived in the eastern side, which is nicer, but the apartments across the street from us had a shooting and someone in our apartments choked a baby. We decided to move to Owensboro Ky to be closer to family, and it’s much better overall. Much more of a family town, but still a decent sized city.
Lexington and the surrounding towns are probably the best areas to live in KY. Although the housing prices are skyrocketing in some of the counties, there's a lot around these areas to do and it's always growing.
Lexington, KY is a merged consolidated city county inside Fayette County, KY and is home of the University of Kentucky. I have to admit it's a cool college town.
@@CrystalClearWith8BE Lexington isn't a consolidated city but it is a city-county merger. Louisville is a consolidated city. It's home to over 300k people. It's also home to Transylvania and BCTC along with a few smaller colleges. But UK on average has around 30k students that attend. Its not really a college town like. Richmond, Georgetown, Midway, and Wilmore are more of college towns
@@michaelholland4096, okay. I see why some cities in the US were merged with counties other than Lexington KY. Philadelphia is also a city county merger.

I dont believe the info is totally correct....Somerset, Ky is a fine town to live in, and has a lot of retired people living here. You showed nothing nice, there's a lot that's nice here! I love it here
Unfortunately, I'm stuck living in Louisville, the ghetto part LoL. I don't like that I'm unable to go for my normal walks like I'm used to. I can move in a year, though. I am not from Ky, but for the most part, the state is very beautiful, and my favorite place I have lived here is in St. Matthews, I love it there. It's really sad that they won't clean up downtown, and they could if they wanted to, they choose not to. I'm at 18th and Broadway, and it's sad how people don't care even enough to throw away their trash. Most people are nasty creatures!
I stumbled upon your video and I find myself wondering if this was intended as satire? Because the Somerset you describe is not the one I live near. Sure the population withing the city limits is about 12k but the county population surrounding it is 65-70k. The photos you show are not the heart of the community. There is good shopping and dining here. Granted, agriculture is the primary economic driver her but there are plentiful healthcare, retail, manufacturing, education, tourism and tech (although less numerous) jobs as well. The area is also a retirement and water sports haven due to the presence of Lake Cumberland. (9th largest lake in the US). Most people I know who want (key word) work here are employeed. The cost of living is realtively low compared to the national average. The people are friendly. I think the picture you presented may be a bit superficial.
I think it is meant to poke people. Lol. I think it is propaganda. The beautiful thing is...people from Kentucky are the salt of the earth. I am from New England and moved to Ky three years ago. He isn't even poking these beautiful souls because their minds don't work that way. They are wonderful hospitable and very respectful people. Somerset is an amazing little city. The perfect size. Anything you really need and the people and amazing.
I thought for sure Hopkinsville Ky would be on this list. I was born there but moved away many years ago. Thankfully. But I still love this wonderful state of Kentucky where I was born.
I've travelled all over Kentucky from Ashland to Owensboro, Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, E-town and lots of little towns in between, and lived in one of those small towns. The scenery is really awesome, the people are great, and there is work if you have skills and want to work. Cost of living is low. I'm starting to think the whole country is in a mess with drugs and unemployment and economic woes. But I certainly did not mind Kentucky or Tennessee although their politicians leave a whole lot to be desired.
Use to live in Louisiana. Moved to Kentucky 5 years ago. I love it here. The people are so nice. Yes i love Louisiana but the poor are left for themselves. There is hardly any place you are safe. Inless you are in the higher income parts of town. Jobs are hard to find and the cost of food and living is super high. The only thing i miss about it is the food. I love where i live now. Kentucky is my home. Food is cheaper well was until lately. When i moved here milk was a dollar. Now it cost the same it did in Louisiana.
I'm 60 years old..I grew up in Eastern Ky and now have lived in Northern Ky for 13 years near Louisville. Kentucky living is just what you make it. Beautiful state. All these evils you mention are in any state of the US.
He was point on with Mayfield. I've lived here most my life. Since the tornado it's gotten worse. The mayor and city officials are hindering the rebuild process. The money that was for relief was mis handled. The ppl that needed the help don't get it and ppl who wasn't hardly affected get all the help.
I live close by and I've been wondering how the city is going to rebuild let alone help folks get back on their feet. Been going to Mayfield for various reasons since I was a child. It was brutal seeing the devastation.

I live in northern kentucky just across the river from Cincinnati and there is a lot of culture and beautiful nature to have around here! I actually just visited your state of Arizona last year on a vacation and had the pleasure of seeing some of your beautiful state in Sedona and Grand canyon! While Arizona is great, I promise you, everyone south westerner I've met who's visited always compliments the beautiful valleys and hills that dot the region with a lot of great wild life and fauna. Well, I do live in Kentucky but I live in northern Kentucky close to Cincinnati Ohio. We’re homes there are three for $500,000-$1 million or more. Lexington is also a very expensive place to live.
A lot of people here in North Kentucky are complaining about the rising crime rate, but from what I've seen, it's mostly kids who are up to no good. Being from Chicago, I have to laugh at what some of the folks here are alarmed by. It can get MUCH worse, trust me.

Lexington and the Newport area/Cincinnati metro area seem like the best parts of the state! Louisville has some nice parts too. Frankfort is a small capital city and seems pretty boring. Kentucky is alot safer than most of the other states though
Please keep telling people this is a terrible State cuz I do not want an influx of people from elsewhere to move here. I plan to retire in Eastern Ky. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. I live south of Lexington right now. I'm middle class so life is not that difficult for me but when I was younger it was. Drugs are bad everywhere. Some parts of the state jobs are scarce but a lot of people travel to other towns for work.
I moved to Kentucky here's a few things I learned. Cut the state in half East side west side. The east side is clannish meaning they don't like outsiders. The farther west you go the more friendly the people. But there is still areas to avoid. Depends what you're looking for in a area. You like hunting, fishing, camping great state. You like the big city rent first and learn the area.

I'm actually interested in doing a trip one day to Kentucky to visit/see the Bourbon Trail and touring the distilleries. Hopefully, that's in the better part of the State.
Please visit. I live in the small town of Midway in Central Kentucky, right in the center of beautiful horse country and the bourbon distillery. It’s a beautiful area, with UK right down the road.
Central KY is beautiful. Nearby is Red River Gorge and Mammoth Cave. Also Lexington has the Horse Museum which is really well done. There are even a few Civil War battlefields. The triangle of NKY, Louisville and Lexington is very agreeable. Getting further south or east and you do see where the reduction in coal mining has left economic ruin.
Kentucky is actually a very beautiful state. This guy was talking about some little boonie towns that no one cares about. Well except Louisville, just like any big city, has good neighborhoods and bad neighborhoods. Literally nothing different. Moved to Lexington area from Sacramento California and I feel so much safer here.

Probably the poorest places to live in Kentucky are in Martin County and Elliott County. A lot of good people live in these Counties. Their biggest problems are poverty. Not a lot of jobs. Coal industry has basically left Martin County and Elliott is basically farm country.

My mom was from Kentucky. She was raised in the Bethany Children's Home and lived in Winchester, about 30 minutes outside Lexington. Kentucky sucks for many reasons. Drugs, including weed, are the highest price I've seen. I've also lived in clay city, Stanton and mount sterling. I loved the scenery but hated the lack of everything there.
Mitch has been Senator there how long? Why hasn't he fixed all these problems? Perhaps it's time for a change. Elect people that care about the state rather than politicians that line their own pockets.
Yeah, talking about him fixing this problems, let’s remember every state has it’s own messed up places and crimes, there are crimes in every state and each country and it’s only God’s kingdom that will fix all this problems and make the world peaceful again, thank you for nice comments. Where do you live? Hope you’re good?
Love the 1980s CBS movie intro music in the intro! I have plenty of family in Mayfield. Economic opportunity is sparse there, and there are few white-collar jobs. Most employment comes from general businesses, factories, schools, farms, and the hospital there (which my family regards as a place where you go to die). I have heard that the schools there pay less than other area school districts as well. Tobacco farming, especially dark-fired tobacco, still occurs around Mayfield, but the system of selling tobacco at loose-leaf floors has faded away in favor of farmers directly supplying companies.
If you buy in Meade county, get a survey and do NOT but if less than 0.9 acres... when septic goes, you won't have one any longer. Yes, they are approving home loans on these properties! To me the towns that Nick selected as worst in KY blanket the entire state from the west to the eastern border. I see it differently than to blame individual towns. Poverty, drugs, crime and poor infrastructure such as public water are a problem throughout KY and it doesn't matter where you are, the entire state is rough. Also, the four of the best KY towns are Cincinnati suburbs... don't count as part of the rural complexion. You just don't see the poverty aspect that much outside of towns except for individual decrepit houses.
You are so right , I moved here from Wisconsin a few years back ( didn’t want to but got transferred by job) and to this day I’m astounded at the horrible infrastructure and poverty ; thanks for telling it like it is as too many Kentucky fanboys in these comments refusing to tell the truth about this state…
I’m from Kentucky. It’s a beautiful state full of great people but growing up in a rural area was mind numbingly boring. I joined the navy right out of high school and never moved back.
I know there's some work going on in downtown Horse Cave & Cave City, but I find Hart County really depressing. It's very desolate, a long distance from a hospital or any stores other than IGA or Save a Lot.
I was born in Horse Cave. My mom's family is from Horse Cave. I agree with you about how depressing it is. It used to be a really neat town. It is a shell of its former self. I love Horse CAve, but I sure don't want to be there, if that makes sense.
I live in Grayson ky, lots of caves and a beautiful lake. Finally went wet few yrs back and our lows seem small compared to the places you mentioned. Great vid and keep it up buddy
Has this guy even been to the places he's ranked worst places to live. I have lived in two cities he has said is so bad and I currently live in one and never see my self leaving. We have music festivals, and host events, we need something I bet my neighbor has an extra cup of sugar you can borrow. And to think McCreary County didn't even make the list at all he obviously hasn't been there. I couldn't leave that county fast enough. He seems to base his information off of Google you can tell by the images and doesn't know what he's actually talking about. But hey we could live in worse places I'll gladly call Kentucky my home.
Yeah not sure he has been there, every state has its own messed up places too, there are crimes in every state and each country, thank you for nice comments. Where do you live? Hope you’re good?

Star gazing is fun too get you a scope to see
Oh, you’re so right it’s so fun and Kentucky bro
All that's cool and all but yeah that's boring after a while. No theme parks and nothing to do. That's why so many people are on drugs. It's great if you're old as dirt and can't do anything anyway
Well put! I love Kentucky!
😂😂 I dont know what you're smoking but i want some ashland suck
The biggest problem with Ashland would be where AK Steel has went down. It lost a lot of its revenue from taxes with it.

Unless you live in the smaller areas I suppose
Paintsville is another cool place for outdoors stuff with Paintsville Lake...and Dewey Dam/Jenny Wiley state park nearby...I'll be retiring over there in a few yrs ..❣️
Sadly, small things lead to bigger problems in the long run. It's like a hemorrhagic tumor going from a malignant tumor to death. We're starting to see decay across America.
The worst place to be in Kentucky is anywhere in Kentucky.

It is more expensive to purchase a house up here, just keep that in mind. pretty off base on Pikeville, Pikeville is continually growing and the city is doing amazing. Maybe you're referencing Pike County as a whole, but Pikeville is a great place to move to. College of Optometry, Densitry, Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a ton of growth going on in terms of new businesses and opportunities.
As an Aside, places like Hazard KY are complete dumps with little to no jobs and crumbling infrastructure.

I was born and raised in Mayfield, moved away for 40 years, but came back. Don't plan on leaving again. We love it here!
Louisville shoukd have been number 1.! It’s the only town you ever hear of that has so many murders. How is it not worse than the other towns.

Wasn’t planning on ever going to Kentucky but this is quite helpful if I need to find a place to make moonshine
you can blow up one of those small houses with your still.
Tennesee's good for moonshine as well. I used to live there.
Don't be sittin' no still in my neck of the woods boy ;)
.....or grow some weed.....
You'll never get out of Harlan alive.
I'm 60 years old..I grew up in Eastern Ky and now have lived in Northern Ky for 13 years near Louisville. Kentucky living is just what you make it. Beautiful state. All these evils you mention are in any state of the US.
.⤴️⤴️..
You speak the truth
He was point on with Mayfield. I've lived here most my life. Since the tornado it's gotten worse. The mayor and city officials are hindering the rebuild process. The money that was for relief was mis handled. The ppl that needed the help don't get it and ppl who wasn't hardly affected get all the help.
I live close by and I've been wondering how the city is going to rebuild let alone help folks get back on their feet. Been going to Mayfield for various reasons since I was a child. It was brutal seeing the devastation.
Mayville or Maysville
Good video - thanks again. I sense a little bitterness in the narrative? The CBS Movie opening theme brought back good memories.
born and raised in Phoenix arizona. I doubt I will ever visit that place, does not look very appealing. I have no family there, don't know anybody from Kentucky.
Shhhhhh don’t say that. You never know. Then you’ll be like dammit. Here I am.
I'd recommend checking it out!
This was a very misleading video. Ky is a nice place with a lot of nice people.
Somerset still has beauty to it to me. Its relatively cheap. The schools are okay to good. School choice is actually a thing a Somerset.
@@philippreitshammer I have been considering moving to the Lexington metro area. Can you please elaborate? Does this include the nearby towns like Nicholasville? Midway? Pine Grove? Many thanks!
@@meedwards5 No, he can't elaborate. At all. That idiot's from Austria!
@@philippreitshammer Austria is a drug infested haven for Ay-rab terrorists. They call it "New Afghanistan". Austrian women have all given themselves over to the recent arrivals from foreign lands. Shameful.
@@prescottlange Thank you for the info !
For a brief time, the firearms maker Marlin manufacturing was based in Maysville. Now I think I know why it closed
Lexington and the Newport area/Cincinnati metro area seem like the best parts of the state! Louisville has some nice parts too. Frankfort is a small capital city and seems pretty boring. Kentucky is alot safer than most of the other states though
Newport is great
Please keep telling people this is a terrible State cuz I do not want an influx of people from elsewhere to move here. I plan to retire in Eastern Ky. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. I live south of Lexington right now. I'm middle class so life is not that difficult for me but when I was younger it was. Drugs are bad everywhere. I've seen enough news articles and videos about other states. The cost of living is super cheap a bunch of people not come here to drive the prices up. Some parts of the state jobs are scarce but a lot of people travel to other towns for work.
.⤴️⤴️.
I live in Ashland and would have to agree
I am from Ky and used to sell hand made baskets all over the state of Ky. I sold more in Eastern Ky than anywhere and met some of the nicest people that i ever met in my life in eastern Ky. Leave our state alone Nick.
I spent a weekend Bigfoot hunting in Kentucky once.
We weren't successful.
He moved to Oregon
@Joe Blow I do love the way America has all these monster legends. Wasn't Mothman supposed to be in Kentucky too?
@Joe Blow Yep, you're correct. WV I think. I remember loosely driving to the US National quiet zone in WV when we passed the Mothman town. (I think)
That is because there is no such thing as Bigfoot.
Yes, I remember driving through the town where the legend was based.
@@Oksanakuz5 , I moved to Versailles, KY, from Berkeley, CA and I love it here. It’s amazingly beautiful and people are very nice. Nearby Lexington is one of my favorite cities in the whole country!
I have lived in Lexington for 42 years and love it. This area is full of Bourbon fanatics and the distilleries are just beautiful. It is a gorgeous place, surrounded by horse farms.
Probably the poorest places to live in Kentucky are in Martin County and Elliott County. A lot of good people live in these Counties. Their biggest problems are poverty. Not a lot of jobs. Coal industry has basically left Martin County and Elliott is basically farm country.
His style of humor is undefeated .
He cracks me up 😂 love his sarcasm and humor. Especially love the corny intros and music
Lol 🤣😆 true he needs a cable channel
Yeah definitely bro 😂😂
He needs to remove his fake mustache and cap. Is he afraid someone might recognize him? Wonder where he lives? Bet he’s not in a fancy mansion. Not impressed with his video.
You caint get me to leave my old kentucky home.😊😊
I’m originally from so cal but bought a home in Murray Kentucky and mostly I loved it there. I moved back simply because of family/ work ect but a part of me will always miss it there
I actually grew up near u nick! In good ol yucaipa
I just moved to NKY (Golden Triangle) from Chicagoland, and it's hella better here, lol.
I live in NKY as well and was raised here, I can assure you we are all much happier and safer because we all conceal and carry and don't have any crazy dumb gun laws like in Chicago lol. Welcome to where the grass is greener, friend!
@@adrone123 same here..Florence,union, Erlanger and Walton..all clean and safe places to raise a family
Ashland is getting pretty bad, the drug, crime and homeless issues are out of control. Old, run down motels line Winchester ave, panhandlers and prostitutes everywhere.
Really like this channel it gives a perspective on the usa
Mitch has been Senator there how long? Why hasn't he fixed all these problems? Perhaps it's time for a change. Elect people that care about the state rather than politicians that line their own pockets.
Yeah, talking about him fixing this problems, let’s remember every state has it’s own messed up places and crimes, there are crimes in every state and each country and it’s only God’s kingdom that will fix all this problems and make the world peaceful again, thank you for nice comments. Where do you live? Hope you’re good?
Couldn't agree more. KY keeps voting in GOP Representatives that have done nothing for the state. 😖
@@montebrown9528 they keep out woke agendas, that’s good enough for me
I live in Bell County, KY. You forgot this one. It's rampant in drug use and poverty. Very depressing and stressful dealing with the general public.
They're being sold left and right, even with current surveys! Neighbor paid 250k and septic needed to be replaced within the year!
Don't get dragged down into caves.
Why Lizards?
Bro your reels crack me up 😂 Quite accurate as well as hilarious, rock on 🤘
I live in Kentucky. Owensboro. It's okay.... For older people it's pretty great. Still some criminals and low lifes in some areas but...
Great video Nick. Dig the Mario look.
Brilliant video, I'd love to see what you say about some towns in Africa
somerset is one of the best little town in the kentucky i live there personally and this guy ony showed the few downsides and backroads that have poverty flourishing but somerset is a good town
Agreed. I've been here for 20 years. Love this town. Very diverse city for KY.
I was born & raised in Louisville,Ky & I advise anyone watching this video that doesn't live here, 2 not move here u don't wanna be in this city it's 2 much violence & it's really nothing 2 do here this city used 2 be really layed back with rarely any violence now it's a war zone I fuckin hate it here & if I was financially blessed 2 move 2 another city I would with no hesitation & would never return...🤦🏾♂️
:\ get outside the city man, much fewer people much fewer problems
@@CatmanFS ugh duh of course living in the bush is safer
Hi Nick!
I always watch your video!
Hope to make more in the future!
Ok Alex!!
I was locked up in Grayson county
I think he is talking about Grayson KY and Grayson Country two different places
Has this guy even been to the places he's ranked worst places to live. I have lived in two cities he has said is so bad and I currently live in one and never see my self leaving. We have music festivals, and host events, we need something I bet my neighbor has an extra cup of sugar you can borrow. And to think McCreary County didn't even make the list at all he obviously hasn't been there. I couldn't leave that county fast enough. He seems to base his information off of Google you can tell by the images and doesn't know what he's actually talking about. But hey we could live in worse places I'll gladly call Kentucky my home.
.⤴️⤴️.
Yeah not sure he has been there, every state has its own messed up places too, there are crimes in every state and each country, thank you for nice comments. Where do you live? Hope you’re good?
