I grew up with Donna Summer. Many of her songs are memories of where i was, what i was doing etc etc, they were like friends to me. Donna Summer was always there, her music was the soundtrack to my life. I had tears in my eyes when I heard the sad news & trust me, I don't cry easily. Donna Summer - I loved you then, I love you now & I will love you forever. Through your wonderful talent I always felt a connection with you. Never ever forgotten.
I have a recorded interview of her from 1979 where she says "I want them to have to BEAT the smile off my face when I go!" and she said it with a smile. You could hear the smile. I want to believe she had every reason to smile in her last moments, knowing she left her mark on the industry, her family, friends and on the world. It's still tough to think she's gone.

My love of music actually began with Donna Summer. A dear friend of mine (may you rest in eternal peace) introduced me to her music, by playing the A Love Trilogy album to me in his home and I was transfixed, I fell in love with her voice, instantly, I wanted more. So he told me that her new album, Four Seasons of Love (the very first album I have ever owned), had just been released, and that I should purchase that album, so I begged my mother to purchase it for me, and when she did, I was beyond thrilled. Now mind you, we didn't have enough money, so I understood the sacrifice my mother made for me, so I took extreme care of that album like it was the most fragile item in my possession. I then came up with the idea of buying two copies of each of her albums because I always thought that her album covers were, and still are, a true work of art. Needless to say, I still have each and every one of those albums on both vinyl and CD form, and now I've come full circle because I no longer listen to them on CD, I will only listen to that magical and heaven sent voice of hers on vinyl. I am just as obsessed with my Empress today, as I was all of those decades ago, Donna will always be EVERYTHING to me...

I had the pleaure of seeing and hearing Donna Summer at the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I purposely set that day to work, just so I could see her. She had a amazing voice, to me right up there with the best including Barbara Streishand.

I adored Donna Summer. I’ve ‘had’ several divas in my life. 🙂 Donna was my first. She was arguably one of the most talented albeit underrated female vocalists of her time. Anytime really. That being said, I’m a fairly smart and well read guy who had to pause a dozen times in order to read what was on the screen. I would’ve gladly sit through 16 instead of 15 minutes.
UA-cam only allowed 15 minutes back in the day. So I tried to get in tweets as many as possible. Sorry for the rapidity in pacing. All of the tweets are truly worth pausing for though. I always say if one wants perfection pay me. lol Rest In Peace lovely Donna Summer.
