That's some beautiful roads. To your question, you have to unplug from all this political bs, I find myself getting sucked in, from time to time. There's nothing like a good ride to decompress and rest the priorities

True !!! A great ride is the answer. I purged out these thought on day 1 of this ride and done now. Haha.

I almost passed on this video after seeing the thumbnail but here i am. At the age of 75 this is easy, Ive payed no attention the the mainstream or legacy media for years for many reasons. Since being able to vote ive stayed true to my Conservative beliefs and will never waiver till the day I tip over. Hence no tension no anxiety and definitely no need for bullshit.

Thanks for the comment and sharing !! I know I feel so much better when I have no ability to stay in touch with the news. Somehow I keep getting sucked down that rabbit hole.
      Thanks for sharing

I read one daily newspaper but do not watch any tv news. I used to get news from twitter, but it became a wasteland/minefield. I use my time in retirement on things I enjoy or that help others. I do vote and reserve my right to complain- a little.

Sounds like a great retirement plan
I don’t watch TV news anymore either and social media sources have become , well it’s the internet. Haha.
      Thanks for the comment

I stopped watching the news when I noticed it was all about the headline and less about the issues at hand. Been much happier since. I can choose when and where I check news and try to filter out the BS

I agree. When we travel and I don’t see the news, I feel so much better !!

I vote for people that have a history of doing things that is good for the people and the nation and wants to make life better for all. There have been those that go into office broke and promise a multitude of things that will ease the burden of people and make the nation strong, safe and better for everyone and not produce much if anything they promised to do then get reelected making excuses as to why they fell short and made more promises. However, whenever they leave office the only thing that they accomplished is improve things for a select few and leave office as millionaires. The really sad thing is that people keep electing the do nothings. I don't know what it is like in Canada but here in the states the deficit keeps getting higher and nothing improves for the population.

I don't watch the news. I read a weekly newspaper and sometimes I'm months behind on reading it lol. I don't need the stress.

I can't even remember how to turn on the TV. Like which remote etc. We only have one TV and I'll bet it's been a year since I've watched it at all...

Well I sure agree with you on the "if you don't vote You don't have the right to complain" statement ... That makes a lot of sense!

I'm 62 and retired. I don't watch any of the political mess on TV in the US if I can help it. I do vote but in Minnesota it's pretty much set where this state tracks in elections. I'm not happy that our country is leaning more socialist all the time so I stay out of most political discussions.

I know what day you filmed this - I still think it was funny to see you passing through Kamloops - what are the odds.
the challenge becomes - what qualifies as educated on a political topic these days?
The interesting part is that I see people that only listen to one side of an argument, or a persons position and that is what defines their.
I want to make sure I have listened to points, and counterpoints to the topics that are important to me. Then I consider myself able to make an educated decision about my position on a topic.

    Hello
My issue is concerning the cost of living.
Everything gets more expensive as we go.
    No matter the leading party.
    Cut research, fund research….
I just want to live a confortable life.
Say i saved one million… will that cover my living expenses. Or will i be broke and in sh….
    Love your input.
But sometimes the future makes me sad…sometime i see potential….
Hoping my saving let me live a nice retirement
My wife❤ is purchasing lottery tickets as I write this…….

It’s 100% compulsory to vote here in Australia… which I agree with.
Many, many years ago I stopped focusing too much on politics, because no matter how hard you want to make it work for you, the sad truth is that it’s always well out of our control.
As for the current state of US politics, well, I have very strong thoughts about that, however it’ll cause me stress if I see the vile comments coming back toward me, therefore I won’t share my thoughts. ✌️

    • @SHHHMotoTravels

Wow I never knew that about being mandatory there.
As for US, I don’t vote there (being Canadian) so I keep my opinions to myself. Not right to be public about that in my opinion
      Thanks for sharing !

Regardless if you are in CA or US (and probably most countries) everything comes down to two parties and honestly neither one has the silver bullet nor the right approach if you ask me. Based on that ….. I vote on the person, not the party because if he or she are trustworthy it will do a decent job regardless their political affiliation

  • @donmartin9567
    @donmartin9567 2 місяці тому +1

Wow, lots of open topics on this. While I agree that EVERYONE should vote, I sometimes find it difficult to pick the "lesser of two evils".
The next point I'd make is that my political leanings have changed since retirement. My wife would say I'm more enlightened. As I age, I'm becoming more Socialistic. I've paid my taxes for over 50 years, paid into retirement funds etc. and now I get pretty annoyed when Political Parties remove benefits.
On the other hand, I'm not gonna be around for another 50 years. When I was working I always figured that there'd be a new Government in the not too far future and I had a continuing source of Income. Now, my income and how long my money lasts is more dependent upon the economy and that changes my view of politics. While I really want to see increasing markets (and thus my savings increase), I really don't want Social Programs to be cut to make that happen (as I and my extended famity) are beneficiaries of some of those programs

We watch tv via Roku, you can set it up to not show political adds. Well it don’t work lol. I laugh at most of the adds. I look at their voting past and stand on the issues. Not what the tv adds or the news says there stances, but actual look at whether they did in the past. This election scares me and then yours next. We could be in trouble lol

Sooo appreciate the shout out to vote! It really does shock me how people view this right that has been fought for years.. and how so many people in the world don't have that right . I believe it's important to know and understand as best as you can, what position and platform each party is selling, what you hope that means, and vote. Yes, there will be curve balls during and after every election, but ignoring this right just doesn't sit well with me. I definitely don't bathe myself in politics .. social media, AI, and every thing else can definitely warp and manipulate your brain. I'm a dog cartoon watching person myself!!
Safe travels Craig and Lu! And by the way, you know you're from the West Coast when you include Ontario as part of Eastern Canada! 😂😂

I actively avoid the news. Politics and otherwise. It's just a bunch of negative stuff these days. I've noticed the same thing - my stress level goes down. I have too much other stuff to worry about. I do my research into who to vote for, and cast my vote every chance I get. I agree - if you don't vote, you can't complain!
