I’m a beginner so When I find myself getting frustrated I tell myself to relax and enjoy the process. I also remind myself that my mom slowly stopped painting because she was too much of a perfectionist and she never got back to it. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2016. I’m retired. This is my hobby and I get a lot of positive feedback from family and friends. So far so good! Thank you for the video! Love from Texas ❤ ! New subscriber!

You have honestly always been one of my favorite creators to watch on watercolor. This video is so relaxing too!

This has been a wonderful video to watch, Alice, after a very difficult day! So much good sense, so much love of what you do, so much concern for us, the viewer, to enjoy our art.
I never had hang-ups about my art till I began watching Art Tube, a couple of years ago. I accepted that some of what I did would be ok, some of it would be just plain awful, and every now and again, it would be something special. Some of ArtTube has been brilliant but some of it has actually messed me up. Messed me up quite a bit, after more than 25 years of enjoying what I did, because at the time I began watching, I was not well, and self doubt was rampant!
Suddenly, I discovered white paper syndrome, new sketchbook fears, and so many other fears that I had never known about - and nor have my students. We just did 'us'. And while a lot of Art videos have been helpful in catching me up with current trends (why I began watching in the first place) and I've made some lovely friends here, too, it has had its negative side. And I know, from reading so many comments over these two years, I'm not the only one!
So again, Alice, a massive thank you for this video! 😊

I find watercolor more intuitive for me than acrylic, and I know I am an outlier there! There is a learning curve and I feel you touched on it perfectly!

Alice, I said it on the premier but this is a beautifully put together video. You should be so proud of it and of yourself x

Hullo Alice, Joy in creation was so key to my art journey. I started watercolor painting under the instruction of my Grandmother at 10 years old and she started me in the very old school of no WHITE Paint and rules, rules, rules! I learned so much and it took quite some time before I discovered that breaking those rules was the key to bringing JOY back into my art journey! As well as Joy in watercolor painting. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing you also grow as an Artist. Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us out here in the ether!

This is an awesome reminder of why I like that medium so much - perfection sometimes take over and this video really helps me to get that pushed aside again ^^

This was a great eye opener for me, a beginner at watercolour painting ( or any art for that matter!). Number one, I am a very impatient person and I expected to draw perfect art within a short time. I also shudder, when there are imperfections in the art I make. Why did I pick water colour then? The reason is I love watercolour art and it’s beauty. I needed this video and your honest words. It was. If you were speaking to me personally. I adore all art but feel I am uncreative. Now listening to your video, I will not be as critical with my art and will focus on having fun, regardless of my imperfections. Thank you! ❤. Also, where do you find a large water colour journal such as the one you showed near the end of your video. I think it would be a wonderful reminder of how one is improving. Thanks again from a new subscriber 🤗❤️🇨🇦

Hi I am still trying to get it I think I am a bit heavy on the color.

Why worry if 'I'm a bit heavy on the colour'? As Alice has shown, allow yourself to play with your paints and allow them to guide you. There's a place for heavy colour in every painting, just as there's a place for the delicate touch. By playing, you discover the 'how to' without the stress.
And please, don't worry about the amount of paper or paint you use, because each piece is a perfect, unique work of art, which no-one else can ever produce. It's an expression of where you are, who you are, in that moment of time, and you'll have captured it in beautiful colour.
As time goes on, you'll suddenly discover how much you've learned without even trying. You'll have learned water control, how colour flows, how it interacts, depending on the pigment, depending on the paper, depending on the water, depending on the brush stroke. So never, ever, bin your work. It's precious, it's a record of your art development. More than that, it's an expression of you, in that moment of time.

So hey, maybe take a break from Art videos, and _just do you_ . Okay? Then maybe in year or so, if you remember us, come back, and comment here to let Alice (and me) know how you've got on?
No apologies for my passionate feelings in this comment. I'm truly passionate about encouraging others to allow themselves to express themselves in their way, not trying to be a copy of mine, or anyone else's. So I hope you'll take Alice's ideas and thoughts on board (after all, I'm only expressing the same thing, in different words) and walk away from Art Videos and walk into the joy of art, the joy of watercolour.
      😊
