Damn, mate. If one shows up, you’re going to go to war against a camel with just your knife? Proof that having something at hand is more comforting than useful 😂. I’d do the same. I applaud you for your brass balls! Great video! Loved it!
The missus and I rode through the Flinders a couple years ago from Cairns on 2 DR650's, epic country to ride through. Love watching videos of people getting out and doing the same, awesome mate!!
@@ADVRiderAustralia thanks mate, hope you enjoy! I'll be checking yours, especially your video before this to ensure I'm ready to go for my next solo trip. I'm thinking of doing the Simpson unsupported next year, so your advice will be invaluable (probably not solo for that one though).
I just found your channel while researching the DR650, and this is the third video I've watched (already subscribed). I'm 33 minutes in, and I have to admit that I wouldn't be having fun at this point. I love wide open spaces and solitude, but having a hundred gates to open and close would really start to wear on me. Especially if I wasn't sure where I was going and that my next fuel and water sources were a guarantee. It was all starting to look the same (to me), and my personality really enjoys changes in terrain and sights with some regularity. My hats off to your stamina and grit. I look forward to watching your other videos.
Thanks for your thoughts Jeep Man 👍 There was certainly no info on this ride so I went in blind after a wet season and a lot of ground cover. I just had to keep going...
Exactly mate , I totally understand when you ride were you want to go it can be the riding you want to do , but we cannot please everyone all the time it’s a fact of life , also when you get older and carry a lot of injuries you NEED to ride within your boundaries, OR face weeks of phyiso recovery. It’s better to back it off as you age and keep riding then keep holding it on and have to stop 🛑 altogether. Getting away and clearing the mind is a GOOD 👍 thing , hope you are well .
@@ADVRiderAustralia , yes I’m trying to plan my next off road ADV mystery ride “ with SO MUCH rain 🌧 and a lot of the high Country tracks still shut or just VERY shitty I will probably have to delay until March or April 23 I reckon ( normally it’s February each year )
@@ADVRiderAustralia I enjoyed the ride. I did some work up that way a while back (Woomera/Cooper Pedy) and have also been up to Birdsville. I love the South Australian desert. Wish i had of bought a DR when they ran them out here a couple of years ago (I’m in NZ now). Cheers mate, looking forward to the next one.
What an adventure youve taken us on man. Love it! I just bought a 09 DR used from a really nice guy down in San Antonio, rode it back up to Ft Worth. First time doing anything like that and loved it. Watching you do this just bolsters all my dreams to do a solo ride just like you do. Thanks for capturing all our dreams with your videos man 👊🏼
Cheers brother, love your comment 👍 Glad your enjoying the DR, they are the perfect bike to explore the land with. I'll look forward to watching your videos of you making the dreams come true 🤙
Thanks for the reply and subscribe Iceberg 😎 when I go on my first adventure ride I will definitely be posting it 👍 love the DR and love your channel man!
Cheers Mike! DR's are a great reliable all rounder mate and you can rely on them to give you confidence to travel solo without many issues. VW's....my first car and still own 3. Once they get in your blood its hard to go without one. Cheers for the comments mate.
I can relate to your video so much. I'm currently feeling exactly the same way so I'm planning a 7 day ride along the Murray from Melbourne to Mildura then turn around and do it all agian. Mentally just need to escape reality for a bit. BTW first video i watch and have just subscribed I loved it.
Great video and Adventure, thanks for sharing.. Does landscapes look alike de northert part of my country Mexico. It seems to be very easy to get lost in all that vastity.
great video looks like a good ride, love to solo camp and adventure myself. For those gates, take a couple hours and learn to ride the bike standing on one foot peg help make them a bit less of a pain in having to fully get on the bike.
Thanks Jdub. Yeah I use this technique on short rides but doing it many times in a day, you use far more muscles and it gives more overall fatigue. Less movement less fatigue. Sometimes you just have to slow all your movement's down to preserve energy. I'm 48 ad have been riding for 43 years.
Great job on the video! Pretty much all of my trips are solo camping and it's definitely my preference. But I would like to suggest that you attach your spot tracker to your backpack strap or your jacket. Especially if you're solo. I recall reading about a guy who crashed his bike and busted himself up pretty badly. It took him something like 40 minutes to drag himself and all his broken bones back to his bike, was not that far away from him, so he could activate his beacon.
Thanks mate 👊 I usually do have it attached to my camera bag but I broke the strap on the bag before I left. I mucked around with zip ties but it didn't work how I wanted it to so just took the chance. Great advice for anyone reading 👍
I'm running a SACHS rear shock from a Husky TE630 with a heavier Spring. Super easy install with some slight machining done with an angle grinder to fit the linkage knuckle. High quality kit mate.
Hey Sean, I use the Dewalt Soft Foam Earplugs. They are Orange. I buy a big packet and change them all the time. Almost every time I take my Helmet off. After a few days my ears definitely feel it but the main thing is they are not going deaf or ringing.

Awesome mate, where did you go?

Thanks Stu, I loved the film. How beautiful is the outback looking after all the rain. Very inspirational video. Keep up the good work buddy.
Really appreciate your feedback Jon! Thank you! The country looks amazing 👏
Simply awesome.

Outstanding record of an epic jpurney on arguably the most dependable and effective long distance ADV mount ever made.
Thank you for the support and 100% agree with your sentiments around the Mighty DR650
That camp on top of the hill was epic. Great video mate.

Great video Stu, was epic to watch
Cheers Bastien, time for an ADV bike mate?
Time by yourself is time well spent,Let’s see what your vlog brings.
Cheers mate 👍 Nothing like refocussing alone sometimes.
Top video mate, I would fix the rooster with a starter rebuild kit b4 it does let you down. Back country cuisine is good but boy the gas!
Thanks Brother 👊
Yeah I'll get round to the Rooster Fix soon! Back country cuisine keeps you alive, that's about it 🤣
Well done Stu, you got the right mentality reset recharge refocus 👍

Great video. Are you running dual petcocks on the pig? I’ve just bought a 25l Acerbis tank for mine and tossing up what to do with it

Could you recommend the earplug you are wearing? I bought a few of them, my ears hurt as bad after one hr riding.
