    Thank you for taking the time to share the Jewish culture with the world. I have been doing a great deal of research on this topic because I am a believer in Jesus Christ and the Bible tells us that he was born Jewish. Understanding the culture and context is so very important to understanding scripture. As a product of a fatherless home, I heavily model my life after scripture. The mindset and cultural references is a major key to knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. God bless you and your family! You have helped me more than you know.

      Jesus not only was born Jewish, he died Jewish and all his followers were religious Jews. Christianity only became a thing a couple of hundred years after his death.

    I dated a Jewish woman when I was in my late teens / early 20's and I remember her mom made the most amazing Matzo Ball soup. It was just unbelievably good. I remember one time during dinner commenting about the fact that they had two dishwashers and was curious as to why they had two dishwashers. Well, that ties in to the not mixing meat and dairy products together. They would wash dishes with two dishwashers to prevent cross-contamination between the plates / glasses used for meat products and the ones for dairy products.
    Anyway, that's my minor contribution to this video. Unfortunately that relationship ultimately didn't work out (but we still remained friends!) because her parents were pretty conservative and I wasn't ready to convert to Judaism for marriage. But she was an amazing woman and I will never forget her mom's amazing Matzo Ball soup! It was just incredible.

    • @isihosena635
      @isihosena635 4 роки тому +2

      Aw that's a really heartwarming story :)
      Good for you for not converting for marriage because the only reason one should ever try to convert to Judaism is for Judaism itself, because it feels like a calling of the soul. No other reasons are valid, including wanting to marry a jewish person.
      It is really nice that you remained friends and have all these happy memories, so the relationship wasn't useless or anything but this is just what was meant to happen.

    The only thing I found a bit strange is when you said the reason a boys hair isn’t cut until they’re 3 years old is because they’re finding their spiritual strength and they need to stay in tact until they’re old enough to make their own decisions but then ironically you circumcise boys when they’re only 7 days old? I’d imagine that’s slightly a contradiction. Not judging or criticising just an observation as a Christian. I find this all very interesting. Thanks for the video

    Ive got a question and please dont be offended as I am not trying to offend but in my 20 years of living in England, I have never met a Jewish Religious person...what is the reason for this? Why are there hardly any jewish religious people in England?

    • @BryceGruberHermon
      @BryceGruberHermon  4 роки тому +3

      Hi! Not offended at all :) ...I think most religious Jewish people tend to live in centralized areas, usually cities, because we aren’t permitted to drive on the sabbath and certain holidays, but we still want to go to synagogue, share family meals, etc. That means that we all have to live relatively near one another, so unless you’re in or close to a big city it’s unlikely (but not impossible) you’ll find religious Jews around. Less religious, agnostic, etc Jews are just about everywhere though!

    Wow your sons get named on the 8th day.... when I had my kids some worker of the hospital wanted to know the baby's name 24 hours after he was born & I had to fill out some form & I know I asked for a little time & she gave me just an hour- my husband wanted a more Spanish name but anyways long story short we named him Samuel Carlos (Carlos is my husband's & father in law's name)

    • @tanyachef
      @tanyachef 2 роки тому

      We PUBLICLY name on the 8th day at the bris (circumcision) for a boy. There are two names. Hebrew name that is used in prayer and ceremonies in a synagogue (house of worship) and "legal"/common name. They can be the same name if the name is a Jewish name (a biblical name, word in Hebrew or Yiddush) or two separate names with one Jewish name and one secular.
      At the hospital when you have the baby, the birth certificate is filled out and filed with the legal name and only the parents know the name. When a male baby and family comes home from the hospital and for the first 7 days, the baby is just called "baby" by everyone until the day of the bris. A Bris (circumcision) ceremony is a happy celebration and at one point in the ceremony the baby's name is read out and revealed. Usually babies are named after dead relatives that are admired. It is considered bad luck to name after the living.
      With girls, the "baby naming" happens on the first Sabbath after the birth. So, whatever day the baby girl is born on, the following Saturday is the day that her name is read and revealed.
      In both cases, it is kind of fun to speculate on what the baby will be named. It is considered bad form to ask what the name is before it is revealed in the synangoue.
      Hope this helps

    I appreciate this. I found out a little while ago that I am ethnically Jewish. I never knew this before because that side of my family is gone and the antisemitism that my grandfather faced growing up drove him to the decision to not raise his children in the faith. I've been feeling sad over this, that I missed out on the opportunity to grow up with this culture and community and it's driven me to look into this part of my background more. I want to learn more and reconnect with my roots.

    I'm a Malankara (Malabar-Kerala) Syrian Nasrani(Christian) our naming system is same as yours, naming first boy child after grandfather from father's side and second boy child from grandfather from mother's side. All of this applicable only if those grands passed away. It's more complicated I can't remember those naming intricacies 😄. Not strictly followed today. Also we celebrate Passover on Maundy Thursday with unleavened bread, we call in Pesaha Appam I have heard somewhere Jews also celebrate it....

      Good question! In biblical times kosher animals were already listed via oral Torah and domesticated. The reasons for this are numerous, but essentially we cannot eat animals that died ill or blemished (there’s no way to know if the deer you shoot from across a forest is diseased till it’s already dead, and hunting in and of itself will blemish and break the animals body in the process). The idea is that the animal is slaughtered in a precise way, differently from typical mainstream butchering, that inflicts as little pain to the animal as possible. Essentially, if you are what you eat, the energy of an animal that suffered tremendously in his or her last moments ISNT kosher for us.

    So, im curious... 🤔
    You said that while a woman is menstruating, and for a few days after, they do NOT have sex. And then, after that period of time, and after the ritual bath/"spa day" 🎉😂😊, the husband and wife "get back together" and are "allowed" (for roughly 2 weeks) to have intercourse again.
    So, my question is:
    Are you still allowed to share a bed and sleep together? And I honestly mean SLEEP! And is cuddling/snuggling OK? Nothing sexual, just innocent holding/hugging eachother while you sleep.
    Or what is the "rules" (if you will) regarding any other type of physical contact with your spouse while menstruating.
    Can you still kiss them? Hold their hand? Hug?

    Wow, lots of rules. No wonder most Jewish people live in urban environments, rural life would be real hard with some of those rules. Are these just Orthodox rules? My friend Burt never mentioned any of this stuff and he spent some holidays with us (his parents lived a long way from where we went to college). I ask because I just started dating a Jewish girl and she does not mention anything at this stage about her beliefs or rules. The hunting thing might be a big deal because I grew up rural on a ranch and I will not stop hunting because I am terrified of not being able to take care of myself and my family and depending on others to feed me, not to mention I can feed myself for 6 months off a elk, you know how much money that saves? I also not sure I can give up pork or shrimp, I probably can but man that would suck. I am confused by the dairy product touching meat is that a rule or did I misunderstand? They come from the same animal, I can understand where some of these rules might develop in a society but that one stumps me. Thanks for the info.

    It’s interesting hearing you speak about your traditions and how you observe the Torah and yet even when you spoke of the sabbath that I didn’t hear you mention God once.. and I believe it’s because with most religions it is all about rules and traditions rather then focusing on a relationship with him so you hope that these rules and rituals will appease him in the hope that you can in some way please him and do enough good works and he will save you..
    But that’s not going to work.. nobody can be saved by what they do and you will find this in Isiah 66;2, you will read that those that try to justify themselves will parish.. you cannot save yourself by observing the law and you cannot do enough good works to atone for sins as there needs to be a blood atonement in which is there is life… Leviticus 17:10-14 and since the second temple was destroyed there has been no sacrifices..
    But if you read Daniel 9:24 then you will read that the messiah was to come before the second temple was destroyed and make an atonement for sin and then he would be cut of and the sacrifices for sin would cease and that’s because he being our high priests, who now lives to make intercession for us ,psalm 110, offers up himself and he by his own blood makes an atonement for our sins.. Isiah 53..
    You will also read that this servant is the arm of the lord and that it’s him who saves and is to rule and that he is from the ancient of days, Isiah 40:28, whereas created beings are not from the ancient of days, Isiah 48;7, and so the messiah is not a created being and everyone knows that only God is uncreated.. but it also tells you who he is if you read more deeply, look at Isiah 51;9, you read that he is to rise up (having been killed, Isiah 53) and that he is from the ancient of days and that it was him who parted the red seas and his told to put on the glory that he had before.. and Isiah 43;16 actually tells you that it’s God who parted the red seas and so this suffering servant according to the Hebrew Scriptures is to make an atonement for our sins and be raised back to life.. ascending into heaven and will come again “proverbs 30,4” and an even deeper study of the scriptures will reveal to you that there is more then one member of the godhead.. look at genesis 18.. we know that God is spirit and feels the heavens and the universe up and yet he appears to Abraham with 2 angels in the form of a man and as the angels go on to Sodom, Abraham stands talking to the lord.. making intercession for them which is a shadow of YESHUA and also in exodus 33:11 God appears to Moses face to face and then in exodus 33:24 God tells Moses that no-man can see his face and live and if this servant is the arm of the lord, then he must be an extension of God himself and he is.. the son of God… and he has a name.. they are told in Isiah 9;6, mighty God, Prince of peace and wonderful counsellor etc.. and YESHUA.. is his name, he is the Jewish messiah and the suffering servant who is seated at the right hand of the father making intercession for sinners having atoned for ours.. his not Catholic, he is Jewish, and he is to come again to fulfil Daniel 7:13 and bring salvation and world peace.. all of this I’ve quoted are from the Hebrew Scriptures and not the Christian New Testament, although you will find in there that YESHUA Fulfilled much of this like coming into Jerusalem on a donkey “Zachariah 9:9” and many other things..
    I urge you to study it and apply wisdom… if a criminal was to stand before a judge and he said “I know I’ve broken the law, but I did all these good works, could you let me go free” he would say if his a good judge no, you committed the crime.. and so he would sentences him regardless of his good deeds.. and it the same with God.. he is a righteous God that cannot let the guilty go free as all have sinned.. Isiah 43;27 tells us that our first father sinned and so all was given over to condemnation and so if all are condemned and the punishment for sin is death as God told Adam in the garden and then how do we save ourselves by our works when God who is righteous cannot judge us based on who told a little lie verses a big one because sin is sin.. someone needs to pay… and so what God did was he came in the person of his son and he made an atonement for our sins so that he could be the justifier of the ungodly and yet still be just.. without Yeshua, there is no forgiveness and your good works cannot atone for any sins you commit and so either you pay or you accept yeshua as lord believing in your heart that he died and was buried and raised up on the 3rd day.. it’s all in the Hebrew Scriptures..
    Please study them.. these works that you do are very noble.. and your family is beautiful but if you want to be made right with God then it’s not gonna happen by anything that you do.. as you cannot according to Isiah 66:2 ever justify yourself.. you can only be saved through yeshua as he made an atonement for your sin should you accept it..
    Study the scriptures and see.. this is only the Hebrew Scriptures that I am speaking from and see for yourself.. his not just the gentile messiah.. there isn’t 2.. he is the Jewish messiah but you are yet to accept him but if you don’t then there remains no other sacrifices for sins and you pay and the punishment is not good works.. but eternal condemnation and death.. regardless of how good you think you are.. look at Adam.. only took one sin to become separated from sin and people can barely go a day without sinning and God who should be first is not.. that’s the first most important commandment and the other is love your neighbour as yourself and none of us can keep the law perfectly and so we need a saviour..
    And his name is YESHUA and when you trust him then God takes away your stoney heart and gives you a heart of flesh you his Holy Spirit who enables you to walk in his ways.. Ezekiel 36:26.. only by faith in yeshua can you be saved.. he is the Jewish messiah, I pray you study it..

    Can i ask you where do you base the prohibitions you mentioned concerning no Cheese on meat and not eating Shrimp's? Does it go back the Prophets with chain narrations from the followers of the Prophet's Salutations of Allah and Peace Be Upon Them?
    Do you have names of the followers of those Prophets and they narrated the approvals,diapprovals,
    actions and prophecies of the Prophet's (Salutation's of Allah and Blessing's Be Upon Them)?

      Torah clearly outlines everything we can eat/not eat, including seafood - can’t eat anything that doesn’t have both scales AND fins, so no shrimp/eel/etc.

      @@BryceGruberHermon We have Hadeeths/Narrations of the Followers of Shiluakh of Genes 49:10 These Narrations are graded and go from authentic Chain widespread Narrations to severed,broken and fabricated ones...Also the person relating the Narrations has to be known to be trustworthy and has even good memory..
      One if the Hadeeth Collectors Al Bukhari was about to collect a Hadeeth he had travelled far to collect but saw the man tricking the camel like he had some food for it to get the animal to come to him. Just from that Bukhari confronted for lying to the Camel and said he would not accept the Narration from him as he was a liar.
      Have you read Isiah 35? About this area of the Dry Desert Land that was prophecised to have a river/pool with it.
      Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said may Allah have mercy on Hager it was supposed to be a river but whrnmshe covered it to drink from it and quench the thirst of dehyddated Ishmael, it became a Well.
      This area Allah through that Prophet comes with Vengesnce agaibst disbelief..
      Jews of Yathrib accepted Islam according to Scripture . .When they would querrell with the Pagan Arabs theyveould say to watch when the Prophet comes they will annihalate them.. who fought thosexPagan Arabs? Muhammad Pbuh...Medinah wasca Jewish City given to Muhammad Pbuh.

    Circumcision is not Jew
    Ish. The Torah strictly prohibits alteration of the human body and the two most important tenets of Judaism are compassion and rationality. Taking an actual weapon to the most sensitive parts of their body and causing them to lose substantial amounts of blood and scream in pain leaving them with a permanent body modification they didn’t get a choice in, can’t think of anything less compassionate or rational. It was originally a punishment for Egyptian slaves. “ The significance of circumcision is rooted not in abstract spiritual realms but in mundane everyday concepts of masculinity sexuality power weakness dominance and submission.”- Leonard Glick. Jews against circumcision
