Nice negotiating. D.C. is a place where good deals can be found, but it can be a journey to find them. It's also like this for other spirits. It can be fun though.
Millennium can be had for cost around 5k. It’s going to sit on shelves for ever at $7500 but I do know a store in Sacramento that told me they sold one at 9k which blew my mind because inwas offered one for $5300. Still to much for me. I can by 6 GTS all day for that
Great watch! I will have to make a trip there. Regarding your other DC video & recommendation, DMV Spirits, I picked up a few bottles from there this past Saturday. Mike is a really cool guy.
dang, i need to get to that store, stagg 23b is one of my favorites, i'd love a backup of that particular batch. did he say pricing, it was hard to see that in the video.
I didn’t get a price on the Staggs, but he seemed to come down to at least low secondary on pretty much everything. Some stuff he was willing to come down a lot more than that.
@@averagejoeswhiskey no worries. i'll check him out, though i aint gonna pay low secondary for stagg lol. maybe i'd go to 150 for that specific batch, but that's it. 100 would be more ideal. secondary is like 200-250 on stagg last i checked
Jewel Osco (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and Binnys (Wednesdays and Fridays) get Eagle rare in multiple times a month. Stop in on your lunch break if your able to and you’ll get one eventually
Bro needs to understand what a reasonable price is. This is no different than any other museum. They’re always wiggle room when you offer cash and bundles but even those prices are not reasonable. If those owners were really cool after you starting becoming a regular customer they would sell you unicorns at retail but they won’t do that because they would rather hope some schmuck comes along and pays the absurd prices.
Agree - stupid pricing. His suggested cash prices were high ($500 for Birthday Bourbon - c’mon… and $1200 for two Parker’s Heritage, jeez). Secondary is out of control.
In dc it’s hit or miss. A lot of the people will work with you for a fair price. Some will not. My guess is that they get so many business people with a massive wallet it’s marked up and sells to those who don’t know whiskey/bourbon. But I’ve been in a few stores in DC who worked with me and were very fair pricing wise. I typically py over msrp for them, but nowhere near secondary. Even though most are marked to secondary or higher
The guy certainly has an incredible collection but those prices… I couldn’t hear clearly, but it sounded like he was willing to deal a little bit if you were paying cash is that correct?
I wouldn’t even buy beer from that store. It’s one thing to charge full secondary for BTAC level bottles, but when you’re charging full secondary and more for shit like Makers Heart Release you don’t deserve any business.
This liquor store has everything. Unfortunately his bottles will be dust collectors. He's asking way to much money. No whiskey is worth the price. Allocated bottles don't deliver for the price. To many good bottles on the shelves for under $100.. Good luck with your purchases.
@terryarmstead3779 it was definitely not a waste to watch. The owner had a nice selection of bottles. I've learned that owners always deal especially when you buy multiple bottles.
Don’t read the stickers. Dude was willing to do low or below secondary on some, and msrp or less on others. Got those 2 hardins creeks for 150 each, best deal I’ve seen by far.
@@averagejoeswhiskey again secondary befits the distillery how. They pay hundreds less or thousands less for these bottles then mark them up. And why deal when he could just sell them at what he gets them for with a small mark up? Instead of these ridiculous prices. Just saying.
@@umami0247 what you’re describing is how abc states work and stores like that have to use a drop system otherwise they can’t keep bottles on the shelf. I actually don’t mind this way, mark them way up and then negotiate with everyone. In a control state none of those bottles would be available. Nice to have access to both systems though! And secondary obviously doesn’t benefit the distillery. But it does kind of benefit consumers in a way…without it none of those special releases would be available years after they’re bottled.
@@averagejoeswhiskey still disagree with the secondary market and if you are paying for it through patreon money that's way different than Joe from anywhere USA.
If you visit do yourself a favor- ignore the sticker prices and talk to the owner, as we did. Thanks to Logan for the introduction!
That place is a museum
That's right, dust collectors with those prices.
Being in DC, that place should apply to be come a Smithsonian. that's a heck of a museum
Museum sticker prices, some great deals out the door though.
Man that J Bowman Single Barrel just sitting there! Would have grabbed them all
Yes sir same here 😢
They were 100 something dollars a pop
Nice negotiating.

Heart Release has $200 sticker is crazy lol
In South Florida they were sitting on shelves for 74$ lol
@@newlifegoalsllc.mcknight3129 yep I can’t imagine anyone would pay that sticker.
Yep, $450 for a Weller 12.. I get those for $50 at my Safeway when they drop.

Love DMV spirits! Glad these videos are helping people find good whiskey!
I have never seen so many unique bottles of whiskey. Could be very expensive going into that store.
Nice to see all those great bottles 😉👍
Man I want those Sagamore's all the different finishes
BT Kosher just chillin on the shelf. Damn
These prices are insane!
That's why it's a museum.

Museum for sure but it’s good he negotiated
Man JJB, BT Kosher, ER all sitting on the shelf
ya, cause he is asking way to much money
Very cool. Did you get a chance to try the hip hop fish and chicken off Benning Rd?
Curious on the price of that Mister Sam...I wonder how low they would go?
Did they have any disco 12 by chance?
No disco 12 unfortunately.
Thank you for the video, but those prices are stupid... $450 for a Weller 12.
Angels Share in Grambill has Dark Arts
I’ve gotten a few bottles there at reasonable prices, as long as the boss man(The guy with the glasses)is there.
Nice museum 😂
Nice 🥃
Cool store but sky high prices lol
3:52 what was that? LOL
Weller Millenium. Buffalo Trace’s new $7k bottle of whiskey
I've never seen Eagle Rare here in Chicagoland
Ever? Where in Chicagoland?
Jewel Osco (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and Binnys (Wednesdays and Fridays) get Eagle rare in multiple times a month. Stop in on your lunch break if your able to and you’ll get one eventually

You probably know this Joe, Seelbach's has a 13th Colony Double in lotto
I’m in 🤞🤞but unfortunately I don’t win lotteries.
Did you catch how much Jack Daniels 12 year was? How much would you pay?
I think my friend got one there for 150? Not positive though. That would be about what I’m willing to pay. Probably more for a batch 1.
@@averagejoeswhiskeyalso forgot to ask how much for the straight from barrel blantons?
Those prices...not a honey hole. More like a museum. Walk away
Owner will work with you on price, I did walk away with two hardins creeks for 150 a piece.

@@mbmaltmansecondary is out of control indeed. I can’t spend 500 for a birthday bourbon but that is below secondary. Same with the Parker’s.
Any store that beats secondary but charges enough that people leave it for me I love 😮💨

Everything bought in this video and even his "negotiated prices" are still higher or equal to secondary.
I buy Weller 12 for 44 bucks, Stagg for 61 bucks and Weller 107 for 55 bucks.
Well done! In what part of the country do you pay those prices?
You have a drinking problem 😂
Weller 12 for $450 is willldddd
Didn’t ask him about that one but I have no doubt he would have come down significantly like he did on everything else.
Affer just getting back from Kentucky, some of those prices are laughable.
We had to talk to the owner to get a real price on stuff. The sticker prices are laughable here too.
$450 for W12, WTF!?!
Was that $199 for a heart release mm? 😂😂😂
Walked past those at MSRP for 2 weeks in OH
Yes, he was willing to come way down on other stuff though.
Great bottles but even if theyre out the door lower prices, its still absurdity. This is like ppl getting those STIMMY checks!
