Me and my brothers woke up to three of these one Christmas morning in the early 70s. I had the purple one, i was the oldest. My brothers had a red one each. They were the new big thing from Raleigh Bikes.....brilliant.
My brother and i got a chopper each for xmas in 1972…we came down and could see the wheels sticking out from behind the sofa..his was orange and mine was blue…we loved em ❤️❤️❤️
Here in New Zealand the Chopper was very popular, I didn't have one I had a second hand Raleigh Rodeo, that I put a banana seat, sissy bar and ape hangers on. I remember a boy down the street had a Chopper that he brought with him from South Africa, purple I think, and it had a different type of vinyl on the seat , not pleated, and the pattern was sort of like the vinyl on mark 1 Ford Capri seats.
My 1973 chopper is in my shed still...got it for my 11th birthday....I'm 62 now... mind you I stopped riding it in 1977 when the frame broke.. yes it was used for everything got used and abused after 3 years...
The greatest chopper bicycle of them all was the one from Norway, *DBS Tomahawk Chopper* made from 71 to 73. It had 2-handle drumbrakes, speed-o-meter, fatter rear wheel, taller seat leaning bars, cooler handlebar, cooler gear stick. It really outshined the english and american choppers!
I was not allowed a chopper, had a Raleigh Eagle instead, used to work a Saturday job at the local bike shop, spent all my earnings converting my Eagle into something that looked like a Chopper.
It looked more like a motorbike was why i had one.But my little legs in 1973 found it heavy peddling up them hillls but asside from the concerns of it being a dangerous to ride bike i never thought it was anymore dangerous than the racers or other bikes
I built loads of them. Great bikes. The only problem is the drag from the tyres especially the front one that slows you down. Did put the folks and front wheel from a Griffter to a chopper and it was so much faster lol
Back in the early 70's in Vancouver Canada 🍁we were all riding Mustang Bikes dad hit a good payoff at the track (Horseracing) and I got a brand new (B R C ) Dark Green 3 speed Mustang Bike for awhile I was THE 😎ONE But then Terry got a brand new Orange 3 speed "CHOPPER" So I was DE Throned as the 😎ONE IT took a good old FIST FIGHT and we agreed to both be the 😎😎ones
they got it nearly right apart from cutting the sissy bar down which was one of the features that made the chopper, not happy about that , if its to do with health and safety then thats a lot of crap , didnt have a problem back in the 70s with it so why now
Malvern Star Dragster Aussie mine was purple twin shift gear sticks wood grain knobs twin headlights on the front rack speedo banana seat with GT stripe very tall sissy bar with a diamond head rest white wall tires. Eat that 🐊
My older brother had one. It looked great but when I had a go, no thanks. Horrid small front wheel with silly big handle bars made it so unstable. Horrid thing.
But they looked fxxxx great m8. And that's why we wanted one. Lol. To look cool. The saddle was motor bike like. And the gear stick.. Lol. Easy to give your mate a backee home, too. I was 15 in 1984. I had a purple one.
I love how anyone with an interest or a hobby gets laughed at whereas if you say you sit around all day doing nothing people tell you to get a hobby.
That bike was a futuristic bike.
Wow, , what an iconic image from the 70s , fab lol.
I was fortunate to get the mk ll in 1977 christmas best thing ever I was so proud bless you mum dad where ever you are

My mum and dad bought me a brand new chopper back in 1975… in purple, I loved it 💪🏻👌🏻

I loved my chopper Mk1 orange.

Do ya wanna sell it?
I wish i still had my orange mk1.
Where to start. Lmao. But magical, memories. I had one chopper. And they're still very cool now. Kids think so too. I'm over 50. And I'd ride one
I had a Chipper no gears but amazing progressed to a Chopper sprint as mum said the handlebars were dangerous on the original bike

I was bought an orange mk1 Chopper for my 7th birthday but in truth I always wanted the slightly rarer yellow one.😂
I was not allowed a chopper, had a Raleigh Eagle instead, used to work a Saturday job at the local bike shop, spent all my earnings converting my Eagle into something that looked like a Chopper.
Women dont give a crap about this stuff - like most cool things in life
The other plus point is 90% of the parts will fit an original Mk2 bike, so will help with your restoration...
Awsome.
Dad got me a 2nd hand chopper ( can't remember the year ) pink 5 speed.... rode it for miles & miles !
It looked more like a motorbike was why i had one.But my little legs in 1973 found it heavy peddling up them hillls but asside from the concerns of it being a dangerous to ride bike i never thought it was anymore dangerous than the racers or other bikes
I had a silver special addiction with the 5 spokes 😁
I built loads of them. Great bikes. The only problem is the drag from the tyres especially the front one that slows you down. Did put the folks and front wheel from a Griffter to a chopper and it was so much faster lol
I had a black chopper once.
Never had one of these though 😂
The price is over the top.
I would like it if the woman presenting the news went on the chopper bike was been funny🤣
Get to the chopper!
They worth big dollars in Australia to collectors 😊
Supergrass have nothing to do with its popularity
Release the Chopper !
It has only very pricey.
Had the mk1 orange in colour 1971 loved it looked so cool but no good for long distance so uncomfortable 😂😂

Build onefor adults!

i had one
Mk 2 that chopper 🤔remember them well ???
These bikes had nothing on the Schwinn Krates
Mine was stolen!! Would love to purchase the MK4, but i;m 1.88. Will i fit???
Did Supergrass kickstart the Chopper obsession 🤔 I'm not convinced but open do being completely wrong👍

How much is this new chopper then?
and.... Using nostalgia as a way to tripl£ the price, yeah, but naaa! They were good, but not tha£ good
I had a chopper back in the day, then the accident, now it's not
bring back the grifter
I had the Grifter XL basically a BMX with gears only much heavier. 😂
They were crap the first time around. The only thing successful about it was the hype.
I wonder where the new Chopper will be made… China 🇨🇳
What is the point. People can't get out of their cars .🤔
Ape hangers handlebars it’s not a crime to say that, not trade mark handlebars, stop it.
Какой страшный детский велосипед.
Lets be honest they rode like crap😂

Nice try
