I actually miss the old Gateshead of the 80ts 90ts the indoor market I truly miss that all the shops around trinity Square thinking now so many good memories
Very good points. Especially about the era in which it was designed - the Space Race, "futuristic". But "futuristic" in the 1960's, is rubbish today because technology has advanced in ways that they couldn't imagine in the 60s. Just look at a 1950's robot design, and see if 70 years later that's what robots look like. Personally I've never seen anything come out of M.I.T. or Boston Dynamics, that resembles a diving bell with a hook on it.
Concrete is an awful material to use for construction. It stains badly, it crack and crumbles. The colour is drab and bleak. We live in a pretty rainy, dreary part of the world as it is. It's almost as if this whole thing was a conspiracy to force us all to go into Greggs and then the pub. hehehe
Shame for it to go though, even If people don't like it, all it needs is a bit of paint and a clean and some love. Destroying these buildings is destroying culture and a era where we looked to the future. There are not many buildings like that left, why not turn it into a good icon?

I remember my 1st real job was at Tesco remember bringing trolleys down from car park in one long train. Health and safety would have a fit.

Well it would also need to be rebuilt from the ground up because the concrete and overall design is too shit
