It's amazing how perceptive Stephanie is - how accurately she can read and analyze other characters, even ones she's just met. It's a combination of body language analysis, knowledge of human nature, intuition and gut instinct, and the wisdom of having lived a long life full of Dickensian characters for her to observe. In any other hands, this interaction with Deacon would be implausible but the show has given us so many examples of her perceptiveness over the years that the scene works. I've always loved this character trait of hers. She really is the Narrator of B&B.
Excellent point, and her perception in this episode seems to set things back to right. When Stephanie first met Deacon she was clearly on the wrong foot, taking all the wrong approach by coming on too strong and playing “lady of the manor.” *Sally* seemed so much more attuned to Deacon and what makes him tick. Seeing Stephanie behave so awkwardly and get it all wrong *seemed* wrong. Today’s scenes see her firmly back in her natural place as the “director” of the B&B world.
@@tiroyaonejustinphologolo9763 thing is, Steph's actually very much aware of their flaws (she even tells them at times).. She just loves them fiercely inspite of. I have always wished she'd tell them to take a flying leap.
Deacon sneering at Stephanie and comparing her to Amber (at 11:00) confirms what I wrote in episode 3435. Both Stephanie and Amber are trying to appeal to a goodness in Deacon that he thinks doesn't exist (as opposed to Sally who tried to appeal to his class resentment). It also ties in with what I wrote in episode 3440, that the Forrester women will have a softer spot for Deacon and see a different side to him just as the Forrester men often did with Brooke.
Stephanie's preeminent storytelling abilities are in full display 💪 She's even temporarily broken down Deacon's walls and gotten him to be vulnerable. She momentarily cut bro's bravado. She herself is an apha afterall (cc *Nick)* At the risk of sounding cliche Susan Flannery is a colossal of an -actress- actor. Sean deserves a mention
because Clarke is hilarious lol when he got strangled by that python and rolled on top of that glass flower vase, I couldnt help but laugh; plus the fact that all he can do is communicate through his eyes and not much else is so funny
@@NewYorkNick0607 the problem for me is that Morgan is so an no y ing as a character that it isn't even good camp. What is missing from her portrayal is that slight hint of humor that we always had with Sheila. Morgan is an uncharismatic villain.
I love the way color is used to characterize Deacon (@Faye)! Both his clothes and his apartment are a combination of bIack and red, a "diaboIical" combination which can also be interpreted as a mix of sadness and anger - in fact, a perfect metaphor for Deacon's emotional state in this scene. This conveys the expression that Deacon is a dangerous man, driven both by darkness and passion, an archetypal Bad Boy.
*@Annie O* Another subtle Sheila 🔄 Morgan reference at 15:56. Case in point: during the BeLieF saga , episode 1575 Sheila warned Steph, her nemises that she stands to lose plenty at 4: 16 and that she stands to lose it all from the 18 minute mark. Morgan even ignites some Sheila music at 16:20 One could loosely say Lance will occupy Clarke's position. Where 🐝 s will feel in for the python ⚠️ This is not to say that Sheila and Morgan are in the same league. Morgan doesn't have the 🐎 power to match 🙅♂️
Exactly! Morgan is clearly meant to be a Sheila type character (only she doesn't have anywhere near Sheila's complexity and the actress is no KB). This whole storyline appears to be based on Sheila's original Y&R storyline, with Clarke in the role of Molly (who also knew the truth but was unable to speak).
Oh, *now* Clarke is worried about Taylor. A day late and a dollar short for that one! 🙄. Full-on crazy Morgan is getting entertaining, though. I still think Deacon is scum, *but* I reluctantly admit that I can see how he won people over eventually. Sean Kanan is a better actor than I thought he’d be at first. In the scene with Stephanie, he really showed a convincing combination of vulnerability and suspicion at the same time. I wonder where the character might have gone if he hadn’t been ruined at the altar of Grandma’s horniness.
Deacon had a lot of potential as a character, and occasionally lived up to that potential. Mainly it's thanks to SK's acting skills - at the moment, he and Mick Cain are the strongest male actors on the show (and MC won't be around for much longer).
About Deacon, I would have loved it if, once he got married with Bridget, he really had fallen in love with her. Two good actors and great different characters social status with great potential. I could have rooted for them. They should have been the next leading couple among the young characters
I always hoped that Taylor and Brooke would become friends... But NO! The writers wanted Brooke to go after Ridge again! Thorne and Brooke were one of my favorite couple!
I agree! I wonder if they really planned to keep Brooke and Thorne long term and then changed direction. Brooke says things to Thorne that only a person in love would say...
Morgan's character went to another dark level here, her toying with Clarks medical equipment is reminiscent to when Sara Buxton played Annie messing with Francesca's breathing as well lol.
Deacon was sooooo good, new era is WASTING Kanan's talents, I'm hoping when Sheila inevitably betrays him he directs all his power and skill towards destroying her.

This is why she's my favorite character and why I prefer the earlier seasons when the show revolved around her. 🙌
Steph is the show as far as I'm concerned.
Amazing how she gets things so Right when everyone else gets it all Wrong
Terrific analysis Nick. My only wish is for Steph to tell the men in her family to be real men 17:04 and 17:07

True! And Deacon's resistance to this approach also shows how he doesn't want to be seen as vulnerable.
Clarke saying exactly what Steph has been saying about Morgan from the start..
Steph's gonna run out of I TOLD YOU SO tshirts soon.
Stephanie has the best slapping hand but it also looks like she gives the best hugs. ❤

Stephanie is a super hero. She has the power to see people for who they really are. That’s why she hates Brooke. 😆
Also years later we find out Stephanie's dad abused her, so she sees through pain her mother knew about it and swept it under the rug
Steph has seen through Brooke from day 1 all the way through Lustric's neverending midlife crisis

😂 That's not a scarf she has in the next episode. She's just shedding s kin.
