i wish you guys used some store bought products for the vegan ones! like at least vegan cheese for the queso and vegan beef for the chili. homemade recipes can be great but when it's just like tofu/cashews/jackfruit then it's just too easy to differentiate. especially for something like vegan custard, it's not possible to get any egg flavour if you're just using basic recipes with cashews or vegan milk

Yeah my partner is not vegetarian, I am vegetarian veganish, my partner developed a milk allergy, so we have made vegan meals many times because it is just easier to navigate, and honestly, they are so delicious! Most recently a vegan chili 🤤 now I want that again

For the "hummus" cheesecake...you're not supposed to use actual premade hummus, you're supposed to just use an emulsification of chickpeas and a neutral tasting oil...using actual hummus would be disgusting...

Okay but I actually feel it would be super fun if they did a "collaboration" with Sporked where they taste tested the best vegan versions of vegan alternatives like the best feta cheese, mozarella, best "real milk" like vegan "milk" and so on and THEN had Link and Rhett do the taste test where it's used in a dish and where they try to find the non-vegan version! That way we have something that is as close as possible flavour and performance wise to the "real" deal!

if one uses something like the impossible beef substitute for beef beef, there is very little difference in chili so easy. so good. my chili is mostly beans and vegetables anyway, using the "beef" as a flavoring. you guys make me smile. thanks!

I've been a vegetarian for years, so I use a lot of vegan stuff in my day-to-day life. Some foods are better vegan than others - like coffee with oat milk is way better than with cow's milk. Some foods can be made equally tasty, but it might take more effort, and the rest you'll start to like along the way.
I'm not vegan but I really don't understand people's aversion to vegan food. In the case of the first dish for example, the vegan option for the shells was so good that they both liked it just as much as the non-vegan dish. So shouldn't everybody be happy that we can eat a food we love without supporting the extreme violence on animals required to obtain the non-vegan dish? When given the option, with the taste remaining exactly the same or better like in round 3, shouldn't we all happily take the vegan option? I don't understand the argument against it being just "because it's vegan". Again, not vegan myself but I eat vegan food when I'm given the option and the dish is clearly tasty.
I know I’m preaching to the choir but as someone who was vegan for 7 years (and whose parents still are), there are a THOUSAND better recipes and ingredients for those vegan dishes. Other commenters are right, it feels like mythical kitchen is trying to make vegan food look gross and unappealing, which is a huge disappointment.

I used to think vegan food was not good, but then my mom became vegan, and she make tons of really good food. Its all about preparation.
The key, for me, is not trying to veganize meaty dishes. Jackfruit can be good, if we would just stop trying to turn it into bbq or chili.

I know I’m preaching to the choir but as someone who was vegan for 7 years (and whose parents still are), there are a THOUSAND better recipes and ingredients for those vegan dishes. Other commenters are right, it feels like mythical kitchen is trying to make vegan food look gross and unappealing, which is a huge disappointment.
