I know this sounds stupid but videos like yours are really important for people like me. Due to medical / surgical mistakes I can’t just eat a normal meal when I want. Food used to be so important to me and now it’s became my biggest nightmare. But watching videos likes yours somehow helps me cope with sometimes going literal months without a solid meal without feeling like I’m missing out. Keep up the awesome videos! It’s more important than you probably realise to those of us like me.
That chef that lived in Devon, Floyd I think he was called I think. Anyway he used to cook a dish of lettuce & peas, which he gave people free. I think he said it was what his mother made.
My sister in a different state in the US from me wanted to make lasagna, when she shopped today the least expensive ricotta cheese she could find was $8 so she bought a tub of cottage cheese instead she said she's not going to pay more for the cheese than she did for the meat for the lasagna. Our president insists that the purchasing power for our currency is greater than in 1980 but I do not believe it, sure doesn’t feel like it and so many people are complaining. Times are getting tough. I can't pay $18 per pound for steak or the huge prices for pork. The large package of bacon I used to get last year for $14.97 is now $24 to $27, no longer a good deal at all. I watch your videos and wish we had grocery options at your prices but I do get ideas for new dishes so thank you very much for all you do, it is entertaining and helpful.
It’s no different here in uk our food prices have increased so much … why? If you listen to interest rates and crap the politicians tell you would think things have gone up by 10-20% it’s lie. Some things are more than double.
I'm vegan and all the meat free alternatives used to be expensive compared to meat and now meat is more expensive in most cases. My mum very rarely has meat dishes now and just eats the vegan food I cook
@samanthastquintin4912 I usually only buy meat free or dairy free products when they're on offer and stock up. It saves even more money. Another trick is to check the frozen aisel! Sometimes, they'll have the frozen version on offer and not the chilled version
Saw a recent video comparing food prices in England to food prices in the US and prices in England with the exception of some fresh fruits were by and large a lot less in England. Food prices in the US are currently crazy and keep increasing as the products become smaller. Inflation and shrinkflation is really impacting a lot of peoples budget. Our government keeps telling us things are great but they are soooo not. In my neighbor hood a lot of single adult children and young married couples have moved back in with parents because housing prices for rentals and purchases are insane compared to incomes. I feel sorry for young people these days.
Love these videos! For the Spanish omelette (or if making a frittata) you can just put the pan under the grill instead of flipping - although I appreciated the attempt very much! Great with some melted cheese on top too (when it fits in budget!)
Tip for the omelette flip: first of all, you want your potatos to “caramelise” and be soft, don’t be afraid to “break” them in smaller pieces when soft. Let them cool a lil bit before mixing with the eggs. In a hot pan, greased with oil, not too high temperature (you want the egg to cook and not burn), pour your mixture and stir it a couple of times so the egg starts to cook everywhere and not just at the bottom (this should be made in the first minute or so) when it has a lil bit more consistency, let the mixture cook at a soft flame for about 5’ and then flip. The egg mixture is not as runny because you previously stirred it. Lightly grease the pan again and put your omelette to cook again. If needed, flip again. For me (an this is a VERY controversial topic in Spain) Spanish omelette is better just with egg and potatos (generously salted when cooked). But adding onion is also very common. Cherry tomatoes for the salad 😅
Fab video as always. I really thought you were going to nail the M&S one. You did get there. Inspired. I use their own brand mushroom soup as a mushroom sauce base. Its the only tinned soup i eat and so so cheap. Much cheaper thna say Heinz. Less than half price. So good with chicken breasts and mushrooms and garlic in the oven with rice for a quick no think tea
Soaked and triple rinsed sauerkraut is yummy in sausage dishes and often can be found canned or jarred for not much money here in the US. Drained and cooked in a bit of butter or fat to carmelize cooked sauerkraut is delicious. My ex mother-in-law used to make a yummy main dish with sausage, potatoes and carmelized cooked sauerkraut, she served it with buttered cornbread and it was delicious..
That first one had me salivating! You're right, with some toast to mop up the juices it would have been phenomenal! Love the dressing you made for the second challenge too. Going to make a carnivore version of that as we are currently exploring the carnivore diet.Thank you for showing your oopsie too. So glad I'm not the only person who can't cook an omelette to save my life!
Oh Sam, you made me laugh with the 'flipping of the omelette'. The easiest way to cook the 'top' of an omelette is to pop it under a hot grill once the bottom is cooked. I add plenty of cheese at that point & it goes bubbly & golden.
With and omelette- if you don’t want to flip it you can put the pan under a grill and finish under there! That’s how I always make a successful omelette 😊
You said about the sausages being close to Tesco finest. Best way look at meat content. Would be a great addition to your video. Would love to see content from all ingredients added. Thank you ❤
Thank you Sam that was really good just a tip for the Spanish Omelette you should try setting the top under a low grill but it still must have been good as Riely was doing the sniff test ..lol..xxx
Lad when I do omlettes I cook the bottom on the hob and then use the oven to cook the top, just slide the pan in and leave door open let it cook and then use a tea towel to remove always done my omlettses that way
Waitrose is crap. I worked there and the employees cannot afford their stuff even with the staff discount. Working class people serving snobs basically Regarding the sausage based meal isn't that just a "Hoover stew" a popular meal in depression era USA?
Can’t believe when you flipped the omelet!!! Try just using a spatula instead like flipping a fried egg. I always find omelettes to be a bit scary to make
Hi Sam, I used to own a farm shop where we made our own sausages, never prick a sausage as they dry out, the reason those sausages split is because they're only 65% pork and the rusk used as a bulking agent will swell up and burst the banger!
Are used to struggle with omelettes massively don’t flip them put it in the grill and cook it that way do not flip when it looks like it’s kissing you that’s when you know it’s almost ready if you need help please send me a message

Top tip Sam. Do a frittata. Start it on the hop, once you've added your eggs, into a hot oven for 10 or 15 minutes. No need to fold or flip 😉
Definitely will next time!!
Just what I was going to say. I used to cook the top of an omelette under the grill
@@Matthew.Henley I came here to say that too. I never flip an omelette. I always pop it under the grill once the "bottom" is cooked on stove.

That’s lovely! Just don’t send them to M&S!

Would have chopped up broccoli and fried it in a little oil and sprinkled over half of the garlic granules. Instant winner there

The omelette flipping disaster was flipping hilarious. Thanks for the giggle!
Nice video... I saw that mini flip issue coming as I did exactly the same when trying to flip my own effort!!!
8:58 never thought I'd hear you say Fam... Not sure if i want to hear it again 😂
You gonna be doing a part 2 of this with the supermarkets you didn’t use in this part?

Jamie Oliver the man who pretty much made the sugar tax happen. He really is something.
Loved it as always. Don’t you just adore comfort food? Makes me ever so happy 😁
You've got a handsome looking dog there. He's beautiful ✨foods pretty good too 😊
Great video always, I would have put the pan under grill to cook top.💖🐩🐩💖👍👍🦉🕊🌈
Don’t flip just put under grill to cook other side
I never learn!
This!!

When I'm doing an omelette I let it cook the bottom and to set the top I pop it still in the frying pan under my eye level grill 😊 brilliant

Damn I didn't have enough for a potato instead of a leek? Love the videos I would have browned the sausages more though....more flavour!
100% lemon juice and ACV are pantry staples in my books
Decent meals for a decent price! I'd do the omelet in the oven after cooking the bottom, but otherwise, it turned out nicely.
Next time I’ll remember to do that!
Imo there was simply not enough egg to bond all that stuff and it would have been easier if the non egg stuff was cut smaller
It's good to see you back. I was worried you might have got sick or something from doing one of those cheap food challenges.
Was just gallivanting around France! 🇫🇷
@@SamWilder. It didn't take long for them to deport you!
I don’t flip omelette, I cook the top uncooked side under the grill.
Best channel yet
Maybe you could try 3 days on tined food.
next time with the omelet cook the bottom then put the grill setting on the oven and put the pan under to cook the top save you from flipping it
Nice budget cassoulets!
I would flip a omelette. To cook the top put the pan under the grill

you should do a spinning wheel of the shops then an spinning wheel of different food
Outro song name?
I would have just grilled the top part of omelette as I know I would have lost most of that omelette aswell lol
Cannalini beans are they butter beans or kidney beans, never heard of them ?
Basically butter beans but without the tiny bit of fat
Dint flip a tortilla whack it under the grill.
If you had a wok flipping the omelet would of been easier, also rather than thing slices of potatoes try them cubed
ha @7:10 I am already subscribed
