Great channel doc!! I wish the entire med industry would learn what you know. Congrats on boldly sharing the healing power of the body. It's endless. I'm recovering from a bad fall & my back/sciatica are very tender. The med system is driving me crazy with their approach. So sad that they aren't creative like you doc. Keep doing fantastic work!!
Just came across your channel. This gives me some hope. Been hurting 5 months. Had cortisone, chiropractor, X-rays, MRI, laser caudal injection and now therapy. Have had Tramedol that I had to taper off of due to bad withdrawal symptoms when I stopped it, not knowing about withdrawal. Then muscle relaxers that made me feel worse all over. Ortho said I have a mildly protruding disc at L5-S1. I turned 69 today and feel like my life as I enjoyed it must be over. Very discouraging with this pain. Thanks for your video.
Thanks for sharing your story! I've heard this same situation so many times, I know how frustrating it can be. That said - there's TONS of room for optimism. With a comprehensive rehab plan people can make remarkable improvements in pain and function.
I'm only 39 and dealing with the same discs. It's debilitating and I feel like my life is over. 12 weeks of this. 4 weeks face down on the floor the pain was so horrendous
@@AG-nn8lpBeen there several times, and currently (hence why I’m here)…. Every time it has got better and only relapse when I’m lazy and not exercising regularly
Glad it was helpful! I even made little postcard sized handouts to give patients at the clinic. People seem to love it. It really simplifies the "can I do ____?" question.
Thank you I've been having tightness and burning in my spine because I have two disc herniations and two bulging discs the first started in September and it got better in 3 months with physical therapy can a chiropractor in January aggravated it and has not gone away it's been 6 months so I don't know if I'm making this pain worse it's staying the same I may be getting an epidural tomorrow because the burning is still there some people tell me just their ass and some people say just to be active so I'm not sure what to do
What would you recommend if I have severe back pain when sitting? I can't afford to stop working and my drive to work is about an hour. I sit with a pillow behind my back. I even have a decompression belt that I feel like is my lifesaver. It makes my pain go from from intolerable bloodshot eyes, moderate pain. What can I do to reduce pain when sitting exercise wise?
What can you recommend for an abrupt landing from a fall on to a thin foam seat (dirtbike). 3rd day, Trying to recover, but the sciatica is causing pain (level 3) down to my knee. No other red flags. Hurts to stand on left leg (level 5). Some light pain in pelvic joint also.
Yes. We specialize in low back pain and sciatica, and the vast majority of our clients have disc herniations and this is one of the guidelines we use with clients every day.
Omg, of all the advise I've been given re exercises and You Tube videos, nobody had talked about the aches and pains during doing them, i keep saying to myself "but can i do these whilst it's uncomfortable or achey. them i found you and this video and here you've explained it, plus in other videos of yours. Also, I've been spending all my time engaging core whist exercising and daily chors which makes me tense and achey. Thanks, brilliant video. 👏
You're so welcome! This is a HUGE issue. Most PTs just say "if it hurts, avoid it." But we have tons of research showing that "hurt doesn't equal harm" and that actually pushing through a little discomfort leads to BETTER results! As for core bracing, you should definitely watch this video (and then if you haven't watched the masterclass yet, do that!): ua-cam.com/video/F3CebFBLXXc/v-deo.html
@ShapeshiftWellness Hi, yes it makes a huge difference as I've been ooooooing and rrrrrring as to whether i should carry on if it's achey or sore. Ok will watch your video below. I tried the masterclass but wondered why i was prompted to fill in questions? Many thanks again 🙏
Yep that’s one of the most important questions to be able to answer! As for the masterclass, you are able to book a consult with me if you’d like, hence the questions that I need prior to accepting any bookings. It’s an option for those who want more personalized guidance!

What about spinal stenosis? I have severe spinal stenosis.
These principles still apply, especially centralization.
Does this work for herniated disc?
Yes. We specialize in low back pain and sciatica, and the vast majority of our clients have disc herniations and this is one of the guidelines we use with clients every day.
@ShapeshiftWellness thankyou for the reply :)
