I can imagine an Australian defense force where half the conscrips have coloured hair, body piercings of one sort or another bodies half covered in an assortment of tattoos that represent the wearers life choices over the last 10 years, and finally are still trying to work out what gender they are, all the skilled normal people would have taken their skills and moved to a country that values hard work and a strong moral outlook.

After serving 32 plus years in the Australian Army ( Infantry) ,the one absolute lesson I learned is that our two major political parties are not interested in the Defence of Australia or our ability to force project.
Having served on many operations from East Timor , Afghanistan, Iraq and MFO Sinai ,you notice the lack of spending and support coming from our government.
Labor has traditionally been the worst white ant of defence capability when they are in government. Labor cuts defence spending and Liberal has to bring it back to previous levels ,when they return to government. Unfortunately when Liberal return to power the complexity of war fighting changes.
We as nation have outsourced so much of our manufacturing, that any defence contractors setting up in Australia is doomed to government red tape which is the real problem.
The last two governments haven’t exactly supported our veterans or current serving members especially with the media. Being accused of war crimes by a media ,especially a government back media ,who lied about alleged atrocities in Afghanistan is never going to help recruits members.
I believe Australia needs to become a strategic nuclear power ,because nuclear weapons are a serious combat multiplier and serious deterrent to any potential aggressor.
Lastly the woke creep into military has destroyed our fighting capabilities, because DEI is not going meet the reality of conflict ,never has and never will.
I wouldn’t discourage my adult children from service in defence of our nation , but I have said to them if Australia is under threat you will be joining your father in service again , but I have said I don’t want them fighting the industrial military complex’s foreign wars either (see WEF).
We need to look after Australians first and our country by building a defence industry and capability that any country as potential aggressor would think twice about attacking.

You are 150% correct ! I stand with you 💯 I don't have a military background, but it doesn't take much common-sense. (or these days, RARE-SENSE) to see what's happening around the world, and Australia is blissfully unconcerned/oblivious to the threats - but the again there is not much of Australia that actually belongs to us. As you correctly noted, EVERYTHING is outsourced, so much, we can't sustain ourselves, even with the basics... Covid was a great example.
People don't like to face truth, because it's rarely a pretty thing, it exposes the lies that people are comfortable with and that take control of their lives to such a degree they can't think about someone or something more important then themselves - hence the WOKE state of affairs.
Nobody values anything but themselves, and sometimes not even that - sadly.

Defend a country that allows other nations to take our resources for near nothing? Sometimes actually nothing...
Defend a country where you can be locked up for having the wrong opinion?

Stop shaming our own country, stop shaming Australia Day, give military service men and woman ownership of property so they can have a house to live in for providing the country service. Focus on Farming, Weapons manufacturing, logistics and distribution. Make sure people pass basic training, I know a few people in the military and they are so sick and tired of woman being given handicaps and passed for training with less than half the requirements for men, for crying out loud your going to war, your enemy isn't going to give you handicap, where are their braincells? And yes, I do completely agree about anti-missile technology. No point of a military if we just get bombed from a distance. Anti-missile technology should be the number 1 priority.

Michael paints a picture of impending desperarion that imho is fuelled by the ongoing breakdown of the very fabric of our society. This is being helped by unsafe mass immigration and dwindling investment in our youth training and localized manufacturing. Too many chiefs not enough Indians in the ADF. Instead of giving giant sums of money (which is Not working) to our soldiers to encourage retention, give them a reason to want to stay. People in our Beautiful Country are losing hope and sadly, that makes it difficult to have the patriotism to want to fight for it. We need better people at the top both in Government and the ADF.

I’d been attempting to contact the late Jim Molan with a National Morale strategy which I placed as priority 1.
And you cannot win wars without a people who believe we are worth fighting for
This included a revised traditional/conservative national education reform enforced at federal level that teaches the best that’s been thought and said - measured in COMPETENCE not IDEOLOGY…
    Other priorities
    1. Develop revised asymmetrical defence strategy
    2. Put the broom through all bloated government organisation and bureaucracy and rehire on competence and merit
    3. Drastically reduce the 215 billion dollars of welfare spending per year - including the NDIS and encourage family units to provide support also community
    4. Financially incentivise and welcome private entrepreneurs to develop energy, fuel, asymmetrical weapon/strategy/logistic/tactics/security
    5. Deploy federal mandate for reintroduction of national service (1 year minimum)
    6. Incentivise and recruit merchant marine secured with asymmetric lethal capability
    7. Restart base industry including production of steel, foods and textiles etc
    8. Provide government support for farmers, trades, STEM workers for infrastructure, food production

Further to the proposals given, I'd say that we need to consider foreign nationals to bolster Defence, particularly from the Commonwealth and our close allies. I know we've done a bit of this, but we should step things up with regards to Canada, South Africa and the UK. Lots of members of their Defence forces are upset with cuts to their Defence Forces, and as bad as things are in Australia, they're worse in those countries, particularly Canada. I'd also try to recruit people who aren't in the Defence forces of those countries, and target young civilians with the promise of Australian Residency, and possibly Citizenship on the completion of five or six years service. At least these type of new immigrants will have military training and some sort of pride in the ADF, having put their lives on the line for the flag. We should run recruiting caravans in major cities. We also need to speed up the recruitment process, which can take nearly a year or more. It shouldn't take longer than four months or less. If you look at what the US did when they had bases in the Philippines, they also recruited Filipinos who were already in the Philippines military, and offered them chances for US residency in exchange for six year commitments to the US Navy, Marines or Air Force. It's proven that those initial recruits had children who went on to serve in the US Military so they are the kind of immigrants you want to have. The other thing is fuel reserves. Australia relies on roads to distribute petrol and diesel, and we have about a week of fuel reserves. If someone blockaids us, our economy will grind to a halt very quickly. The Gov't needs to come up with a Strategic Reserve to have at least three months of fuel supplies to deal with contingencies. As for Air Defense, it's madness to be waiting for some future C&C system. We need to be buying many more NASAMS, not just for the North, but we need to raise Reserve Units to operate them close to our other bases and major cities, particularly Perth and Sydney, where our fleet bases are. As was pointed out, you want to get rid of subs, and ships, take them out when they're in Port. We should also be fast tracking longer ranged systems. I'd also go back to the Navantia's proposal of three more AWDs built in Spain and delivered one every two years. These are mobile Air Defence Platforms with sophisticated radar and the ability to take out ICBMs with SM-3. They also are currently our best ASW assets with towed sonar arrays. We already operate them, so training crews will be far easier and we can retire ANZACs and transfer their crews to these new AWDs. Three of these is pretty useless, we likely only have one available because they're cycling the others through maintenance cycles. Further, let's start manufacturing HIMARS, NSMs and other munitions locally, ASAP. And look towards other systems like the newly proposed Anduril Baracudda cruise missile systems that's been proposed for the US. These are modular and scalable and partnering with them in Australia to build these would be a good investment. We need to get moving now!

The involvement of states and civil snouts in the defense trough, rather than ADI military defense manufacturing facilities that have served Australia well! To prepare for war 1) Move 155mm manufacturing to Benalla! 2) Restore manufacturing of gun barrels Naval turrets to Bendigo Including 40mm! 3) Restore the full contract number of Redbacks to Geelong! 4) Build the lower cost UK version's of the Boxer 8 wheeled APC at Bendigo as well as Bushmaster!

Without watching the video, the answer is no. No real air defence, such antiaircraft batteries, no artillery to speak of (54),can't put a division together, etc, etc. Now should we speak of airforce and navie. And then there's the munitions situation. Australia has only been a transport and logistics provider since Bob Hawk and his razor gang in the 80s. Our defence is primarily the American interests. And that's not going change any time soon with the political parties in both sides. It costs a lot of our gdp to make it right. Nah, we got kids banned from SM, Nanny speed Limits everywhere and fake safety culture worshipped by godless people. All the while private guns are confiscated, wokism creeps in, religious nievity assumes other religions are "hugs & friendly" to our way of life, not. Hell even FPV flying is essentially banned in 🇦🇺 whilst Ukraine's bunfight 🇺🇦 demonstrates the necessity of hundreds of thousands of young FPV pilots easily defeating overpriced tanks. Russia just increased defence spending to 40% 😮. How many drones does China have😮?

You talk about training the human factor of the military, my question is. Will we have enough current generation from 1990 onwards who are willing to join up in the face of war? Based on the comments, there appears to be very few willing to defend our country. Using the most self-interest reason's, that are representable to today's mindset.
