  • Three city firefighters painted a grim portrait as they sat in front of a wall plastered with images of their fallen comrades. These colleagues did not perish in a raging fire or after falling into a collapsing building. They all succumbed to cancer.

This is a great message and it is about time that we stand up! Wash your Damn gear. We have the opportunity to kick Cancers Ass! Dirty gear is not a badge of honor, it is your ticket to Chemotherapy. Ask our brothers in Boston, and in every other fire department in the U.S. We need to be healthy enough to enjoy retirement. We owe it to ourselves, and our family. Thanks for sharing this BFD.

This is a great memorial to the Boston FF that have been lost. Unfortunately this is happening all over the US. My husband and I were both FF's for over 45 years and we both have cancer. Now the Government is thinking of stopping support for the medical needs of the responders from 911. We all give our all - why can't people understand it when we as Emergency Responders and our families need help that it shouldn't even be of question of how much. IT SHOULD JUST BE THERE - WITHOUT QUESTION

To all those who fight the good fight and face what we face in this job we hold so dear, be safe, be careful, and be proactive against our new enemy. To all those battling our new enemy, keeping fighting the good fight and face it with the courage and bravery that makes you the firefighter you are. God bless you and every firefighter everywhere

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but to see my cousin, Mark Matthews, really hurt, he passed away. Fire-fighter's save people, if they keep dying of cancer???? This has to stop, they need better protective gear! #RIPMarkie Blessings to the families who lost their loved one this way. #ExtinguishCancer

this is nothing new, but if you are not in the clique or maybe black you wont be covered , just like if you were not in the clique you would be put on Sick :Leave , not Injured Leave. you would not be indemnified , and that's the rights you lose when you sign your life away for the BFD .Pretty horrible, the Jakes from the 60's & 70's were exposed to so much.
