I had no idea what kind of movie I was about to watch and well now I know... I'm going to need a lot of tissues. I can't handle slave stores, it has always broken my heart. It's still so crazy that there are MORE slaves in todays day and no one does anything about it. All Slaves deserve to be free.

I was born in 1968, Dutch and still living in the Netherlands. I'm white. I never owned a slave, never wanted a slave and never needed a slave. What my ancestors did is NOT my doing. Slavery is wrong, so is holding it against people who had no part in it. Therefore I refuse to carry YOUR burden, I'm not ashamed for the things OTHERS did, neither will I need or ask forgiveness or apologize. I wasn't there, my conscience is clear. Live well, apply yourself to become a better person instead of hiding behind something NOONE living today was a part of. YOU ARE NOT A VICTIM, THE ONLY SLAVERY YOU ARE SUFFERING IS YOUR SELF SHACKLED MIND.

I didn’t even know MORMONS had slaves (other than their women), let alone on their wagon trek across the country. And, I grew up in the church. They never mentioned it. I did notice one minor error… Mormons refer to each other by Brother in lieu of Mister, and then the surname; so Brother Young, not Brother Brigham. But, who knows what they did back then.

The state of Missouri had an order on the books to either exterminate or drive from the state all Mormons. I think it wasn't until 1976 that Missouri rescinded that order and issued an apology. Through hard work the Mormons had built up a nice piece of farmland and the Govenor wanted it.

I know Jane Manning, but never heard this mans story. Jane Mannings group were from the north and not slaves. As far as Joseph Smith...Could they have found a worse actor? And the nature of the people and the church...very poor interpretation of the actual truth. 1 out of 10 as a movie. o out of 10 for anyone that would call these events and words of Joseph true. Did they even bother to talk to anyone who knows the actual history? I am guessing no. There is nothing inspired by truth in this film, or at least very little. The saints had NO slaves! Just was thinking if Egypt was black people, then Pharoah was black in then Bible not Moses. The Egyptian pyramid was black people building things. Black people ran the world in the beginning of time. We just use the power against God and his people. His people was Israel they had their own issues but they was his people. Egyptians black people did not want anything to do with God in ancient days, they saw themselves as gods.
