Vince McMahon 1987: Welcome to the Magnificant Silverdome and Welcome to WRESTLEMANIA III!! And now Ladies and Gentleman here to sing America the Beautiful The Queen of Soul Miss Aretha Franklinnnnnn!!!!!!!
Can someone tell me Silverdome's flaw that motivated Lions to abandon the facility? Yes I know they moved to Ford Field but what was it Lions and Detroit area didn't like about Silverdome as a motivation to build Ford Field?
Robby the Detroit Lions did not iwn the stadium. They rented it from the city of Pontiac. The revenue that the Lions got from the deal was not the same as if they owned the land and the building.
long story short: there were plans to get a MLS team for the stadium but the roof collapsed and to rebuild all of that...just too expensive ... so they go the "economic" way ... and let it rot ...
I no this is a little late to the party an why it came up on UA-cam I don't no but I hope your dad found him a good job as I'm sure he has cause anyone who wants to work can find job an I hope everything is good with him I no it would suxk to put a decade of your life into something then have to watch it rot
I remember this stadium. They had some great monster truck shows there. I miss it now that it has been demolished. Also, I still remember listening to one of the music tracks in the Real Wheels home video, "There Goes a Truck."
After bringing a boxing match that saw a gate of only 7,000 into an 80,000 seat venue the only other thing the new owner did was to have a "professional" Frisbee football league team play there! Now the roof is deflated. They might as well tear the shithole down and be done with it!
It has everything to do with her. She was the one who pretty much had Leeb appointed as the emergency Finance manager and he is the guy that was supposed to be in charge of getting Pontiac out of debt. Leeb should have found the original high bidder for the Silverdome and re-negotiated the same or slightly lower price instead of wasting money on an auction and getting less than half of what a previous person was willing to pay. You Sir are a sheep.
Because your not looking at it in a way that would make Pontiac a better place. Granholm appointed people on the board the appointed Leeb, after he was in office she passed it off.I'm not trying to personally attack you but pointing out that what you are doing is following something blindly that has done nothing good for you. I grew up down the road in Clarkston and we are the people that keep money pumped into that hell hole, by being patrons at the Piano bar and a club 7 in the downtown area.
and now their turning the place into a dump no one their even knows about the stadium.their even in court for not paying people for working their..what a shame.search the oakland county pres, detroit news and see them ruining a great building, might as well as tear it down.how sad.....
I bet they could have made one hell of a Marijuana grow room out of that place an grow pot year round

$583,000 for something built in the mid 70's for $55 million??? As they say on Monday night, COME ON MAN!!!
i want to see a ESPN 30 For 30 about the Silverdome
This aged well
need those doors to help keep the air pressure up that holds the roof up! Been there many times in the past for concerts not that bad.
I think it's ready for the 2016 super bowl
Oh you wait till you see it now
As soon as you said 127.5 acres in the heart of Pontiac, I was sold.
What's strange is this, if this was given to me as a present, I wouldn't know what to do with it.
How cool would it have been for it to host WrestleMania 33 in 2017? Damn shame..
Chris McCune not happening

Literally sold for $500,000
They were talking about the roof... anddd it's gone...
The Swedish footboll team took the brons medal on this arena in WC 1994...
and I thought it was named after a car division of General Motors
World indoor attendance record 93,173 fans at Wrestlemania 3 back on Sunday March 29, 1987 in the Pontiac Silverdome. ENOUGH SAID.
That "record" is very dubious because it wasnt verified it was just reported by Vince McMahon
A beautiful stadium, wasted
Why would someone buy it just to let it rot away?
well that is basically what happened
long story short: there were plans to get a MLS team for the stadium but the roof collapsed and to rebuild all of that...just too expensive ... so they go the "economic" way ... and let it rot ...
my dad is in this video (Jhon kent) and he has worked there for more than a decade.
Savannah Kent your dad had to find another job
KimberDad - Lmao. Plot twist, savannah and her dad both died in the dome after the second time the roof collapsed.
I no this is a little late to the party an why it came up on UA-cam I don't no but I hope your dad found him a good job as I'm sure he has cause anyone who wants to work can find job an I hope everything is good with him I no it would suxk to put a decade of your life into something then have to watch it rot
It’s roof was it’s down fall
@Filmaker25 you could have a business meeting there.
i went to a packers lions came back then and trust me. revolving doors are extremely dangerous in a place like that
What a great video. I just want to know what they plan on doing with it! $583K is a steal!
Let it rot, and blow it up
We're featuring this on Absolute Michigan (dot com) today!
If wrestlemania comeback to pontiac silverdome i'd most likely to go! its a history throwback!

Amazon owns it as of 2021
It’s being exploded as I type this :(
Snoopyhowl Gaming well it didn't go down.....
Yes it’s down :(
It's down now
RIP Silverdome!
How sad. It was sold for a song and now it's rotting.
@shazam1963 Probably just the fact that they want to put all sporting facilities downtown for better accessibility for the public...
This would make one hell of a house lol

Who won the auction bid?
*I just like the name*
After bringing a boxing match that saw a gate of only 7,000 into an 80,000 seat venue the only other thing the new owner did was to have a "professional" Frisbee football league team play there! Now the roof is deflated. They might as well tear the shithole down and be done with it!
$20
This place doesn't exist. It's grounds now hold a soulless Amazon facility...
WOW! why didn't I buy this what a return on my money I could've had !! this would've been a good investment.
RIP Michigan
What a shame they let it fall into a state that demolition was the only option.
its bought buy City of Toronto, They already have a Rectractable dome wonder why they bought this
may want to see it now the roof fell to pieces and the field id a giant waterbed
Should've been sold to the Iron Sheik....
i'd buy that for a dollar.
This is laughable. NO business wants to be anywhere near Pontiac or Detroit. Lol
It was wasted

That's all you need to say.
