The dresses with white trim reminded me of ones my grandmother used to wear. She had “house dresses” that she wore for everyday, and better dresses that she wore for going out, like to the grocery store! I grew up in the 50s and 60s, so my grandmother was born at the turn of the century. She saw the world change so much during her lifetime, and told me to never think of the “good old days”. She loved the “good new days” with modern appliances, cars and radio/television, etc.
Hi, Sentiments! Your memories made me think of my own dear grandmother! When my nephew had a class assignment to interview an older person, he chose his great-grandmother. When asked if she missed the good ol' days, my grandmother (like yours!) said she preferred THESE days: air conditioning in summer, instant heat in winter, washing machines and dryers, dishwashers, cars - a bathroom and running water INSIDE the house! All the things she and her family used to work long hours to do by hand are now accomplished by machines. My nephew had a hard time even imagining old time life as she described it! Grandmother died at age 95 and was buried in one of the housedresses she had worn every day!
I picked up a binocular case at habitat for $1. I use it as a purse. Super roomy, real leather, and no one will grab it thinking it’s a purse!! Oooh and long strap so crossbody action!!! I also carry old metal lunch boxes

I would love to see Goodwill donating all food items to a food pantry or shelter.

Haven't heard her classic lines for awhile now, & am missing them...such as: "Here we have a...", & "What have we here??" Love those! But what I like best is when the magic wiggling fingers are seen on camera zeroing in on a desired object on the shelf. That hand & fingers are obviously an entity all their own, making their own decisions as to what needs a closer look. It's like the intro when she's in the car, or the clip of Andrew singing "ring my bell" everytime she finds a bell. These are classic things some of us just need.😃

On vintage clothes you can use the fabric to make pillow covers for the pillows on your sofa..some fabric are nice
i would buy that box stationary from you if you had got it...its expensive to buy sets now a days, when you can still find it...writing letters is a dying art....

I don’t understand how you find a ton of items almost everyday at Goodwill. Mine are super lame, over-priced and have no inventory. I thought that maybe it was just a New Jersey thing. So, when I visited my in-laws, I went to two Goodwills in PA - neither of which were ones that you go to. They were both just as bad or worse than my local NJ ones. I’m done with Goodwill. I’ll be sticking to smaller local thrift stores associated with churches and community support groups.
Am I the only one that thinks Jocelyn’s local goodwill is way better than mine!?
yes. I don't get it. I have 3 or 4 goodwill I go to and their is never much of anything worth getting. And certainly not basket full.

This trip was a fairly average day at Goodwill. No ..wow...piece hiding in a corner. I believe they place them there, but what do I know. Other than finding the wow piece keeps you tuning in.
We have fantastic GoodWill locations nearby. Each one is anchored by 5 to 6 antique vendors, Ebay sellers. They literally live there and wait for the carts to come out. It's like watching Falcons race for prey. 9am to 7pm. Management says there's nothing they can do.
So how is it that other vendors in her area see these great finds and success and aren't waiting for carts? Odd, really.
I was in 2 of my local GWs yesterday and I thought wow what boring videos mine would be if I were to film here. Now I find great things to resell but not near as much in one trip that the youtubers find.
Funny as it sounds, Dagney may do good on the Mr Peanut! He was recently retired after 104 years! I had a mr peanut dish in my eBay shop that sat forever and the day after the announcement it sold!!

Mostly sold on QVC though there is a website. From what I saw, that was a very good price.

That acrylic cube is a photo holder!! I have one that still has my 38 year old son's pic in it when he was about 3-4 holding the reign of a horse with 5 other pics. They yellow :( Developed film came back in pictures that fit perfectly in the 80's !

I would have snpped up the stationary set. I had that exact one when I was 14 and still have the box. I store the letters I received from, my boyfriend now husband of 34 years in it.
You can rock those dresses and you’d be surprised how much cooler they are instead of jeans. I wear dresses in the summer a lot, but I still love my denim jeans

The tools were probably donated by a wife whose husband left her! My daughter donated her husband's golf clubs to the GW when he left her!
Those tools had some age to them.
Good for your daughter - I'd have done the same thing!

Re: green beans on the shelf at Goodwill: I can just see GW employees telling each other, "Hey, The Crazy Lamp Lady is here! Quick, grab the canned vegetables and put them all over the shelves!"
Dresses with converse - yes! That wood purse would look amazing with your vintage sunflower dress.
I found that same Tiki Toss at my Goodwill! My kids love it, had it to resell as it was unopened also, but ended up bringing it out on a dull day. I glad I did, they do like it!
That blue and white bundt pan was probably Temptations -- a modern company, but might still have some value.

LOVED the blue embroidered dress and so, so, so glad you bought it for yourself! The intricate floral work is glorious and positively radiates on that striking blue background. It suits you perfectly. Have to admit, I prefer this one to that, let's just say, "yellow floral thing" you bought the other day. If you don't decide to wear this dress then you should consider framing it. Many people frame vintage clothing and they really do become conversation pieces. They're truly one-of-a-kind works of art. By the way, I think Dagny is lovely and you two should definitely shop together more often. Not many resellers surrender their finds and I can see you two have mutual respect for each other in that regard and that is refreshing to see. Looking forward to your haul Jocelyn. I keep seeing things I have or used to have on the shelves as you shop, keeping in mind that we've been married since 1964 so of course , a lot of our objects d'art are quite old, definitely vintage. Today I get to say I have that! for something you actually put in your cart, not just look at, for the second time - the metal sailboat. Yay! 😊👍 I don't remember where I bought it, just that it was here in Canada, same as the last item. Neat.😉

The little tudor houses are Mudlen End Studio Felsham Suffolk and prices usually range from $2 to $10 each, but if you find a good one, they can go for a lot more.

That store had thee greatest stuff!!! My total spent there would've been more like $140 ^_^ So many Eclectic, Hippie and Boho styled goodies- eeep! The Peru wall art, the handmade dresses, the lava lamp, those weird candles, the baskets...so much fun stuff!
The little houses in bag & one had big chip? Memory lane for me. They are from a set of 7 that I bought at auction in the 90’s probably. Let’s just say they suffered a major earthquake and none survived!

Banana Republic was started in 1978 so it is vintage.
We have lots of good thrift stores where I am in So Cal but for some reason due to Covid, our Goodwills no longer sell perfume, cosmetics, jewelry....all the stuff that was kept in the glass case up front! ALL the other thrifts still do with touching rules in place. I still find deals on fragrances at those. The rules don't make sense because we can touch everything else in the store and stuff is not sanitized every time you touch something!

The yellow dress looks like it might be a Italian fabric and designer Emilio Pucci still high end today.. His blouses were very popular in the 70’s and were valuable then. Very modern Pop Art.. Might want to check, even scarfs from the 70’s many of the silk fabrics were designer patterns.

If I remember correctly, the blue bunt pan is a Temptation piece of ceramic cookware. That pattern and style of Temptation cookware is not always available so it may be considered a collectible pattern.

If you are looking for vintage, it was a good call to avoid that bundt pan. I believe the same pattern or something very similar might be by Temptations. Really pretty though.

During lockdown Goodwill stores were closed because they were considered non-essential. After they reopened, they added food to the shelves. If there would have been another lockdown, they wouldn’t have to close again because they had food for sale, which made them essential.
at 15:10 those little black candle holders, if you dont find the bowl , would look good with one of those black panthers you sell sometimes....

Yes! I agree with everyone. You definitely have nicer Goodwills than we have in Rhode Island. I have to drive to Groton CT and there aren’t too many treasures to be found. The can food selection mixed in cracks me up... yours are “Quite Nice” ( I love when you say that. No apologies necessary) 🤣😂I definitely share your love of Halloween! It is my favorite holiday 🙌! Very long story but Dagney is the name of my 2010 Red Kia. Bought in a time of much joy. Plus Norwegian & wanted something Norse. Look up meaning. I smile when you say your Dagney 's name.
