He said the list contained movies that focused on the werewolves. Dog Soldiers didn't do that, it focused on the soldiers. The wolves were there, they weren't the focus.
I've seen that one where the train breaks down, yes? Have you seen Wer? It's a great original, brutal story that departs traditional lycanthropy. But keeps the trace elements.
I highly recommend Wolfen (1981). And underrated and practically unknown werewolf movie that came out right between The Howling and An American Werewolf in London.
My Top 5 Werewolf Films : 5. The Company of Wolves (1984) 4. Werewolf Shadow (1971) 3. Dog Soldiers (2002) 2. The Wolf Man (1941) 1. An American Werewolf in London (1981)
My favorite as well, I love it so much I rarely watch it... why? I don't want to lessen the impact the conclusion has on me! Believe it or not, the Wolf Man storyline in HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN has a lesser, but similar effect! ( Even the "flub" of Talbot going from T shirt to black shirt can't give me pause....or paws?) Anyway, it's a testament to Creighton's/Lon's under rated talent as an actor that this movie has held up so well!
Howl (2015) A train in London breaks down in the middle of a deep forest and the passengers have to deal with what's waiting for them outside. ..or maybe what's outside gets in. Great werewolf movie that I only just watched a few years back.
Wolf is one of my very favorites. Nicholson shows increased aggression in all areas of his life along with very enhanced power of scent. Liked the transformation scene in big fight, too.
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning is criminally underrated, and one of the best werewolf movies ever. I personally prefer it to the original Ginger Snaps. The historic setting, the desperation and nihilism, the connection of the wolf myth to the Cree legends, it's all very unique and first rate.
I love Ginger Snaps, but The Beginning kinda disappointed me on first watch. I love history, legends, and the winter setting so I thought I'd love it, but it just didn't hold my attention. I'll eventually rewatch it and hopefully appreciate it more. I felt a little mixed about the second movie because I loved where it was going with grief and addiction, but the movie overall didn't feel like it lived up to its potential. I still prefer it to the third movie, but Ginger Snaps is my overall number 1 werewolf movie. I was never very interested in werewolves, but Ginger Snaps made a bridge for me to WANT to explore the genre more
Great list! Some other ones are Big Bad Wolf, Howl, Late Phases, Full Eclipse, Bonehill Road, High Moon, Werewolf The beast among us, Blood Moon, Never cry werewolf, Skinwalkers and The Beast of Bray Road. Awesome video as always my friend!
@@jezzalexander Actually, it is a werewolf story (humans turning into wolves and back again), but you could maybe get away with saying it's not a "wolfman story."
@@voronOsphere There are no humans turning into wolves in Wolfen... There's a red herring with the Eddie Holt character (even pulling plastic fang teeth from his gob if I remember) but the wolves are wolves .
Amazing roundup as usual! The Howling has always left me a bit cold as well... Glad to see I'm not alone. October is just not long enough to tackle the watch list I'm creating from your videos!
Fun Fact: Actually more like Easter Eggs: Some of the characters in The Howling were named after directors of werewolf films like Belinda Balaski"s Terry Fisher was named after the director from The Curse of the Werewolf Terrance Fisher. And Dr. George Waggner played by Patrick Macnee had his name taken from the Director of The Wolf Man 1941 George Waggner.
Two movies that you might want to check out are WEREWOLF from 1956 and I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF from 1957. The thing that makes these two different is that both films feature a pseudo-science-gone-wrong basis for the the lupine transformations. I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF also features Michael "Little Joe Cartwright" Landon as the werewolf and prominently features the great character actor Whit Bissel.
The Werewolf (a Sam Katzman production) is actually a really good film. I highly recommend, but probably only if you're a fan of 50s sci-fi/horror. Good story with a sympathetic werewolf character and great outdoor location shots.
I concur. I actually liked the "The Werewolf" makeup with a lycanthrope that had upper/lower fangs over the "underbite" of the 1941 "The Wolfman". In "I was a teenage werewolf", the makeup was great except for the dimestore fangs.
Thank you for mentioning my two favorites; Hammer's "Curse of the Werewolf" and the 2010 "The Wolfman". Two very different movies but both classics in their own way.
Wolf is one of my favorite werewolf movies. It’s a werewolf movie that deals with aging, corporate politics and maneuvering, and ultimately, humanity. And the performances of the major characters are all very good to great. I just love it.
How in the hell did Dog Soldiers and Late Phases not make a top 10, much less 15??? Nick Damici gives one of the best acting performances in ANY WW movie ever and gets snubbed...and Dog Soldiers has the best werewolves in any WW flick to date. WHAT?
@@cobwebschannelI saw it when it was released (I'm a few decades older than you.) and I didn't care for it. I'm more of a werewolf fan than a Jack Nicholson fan. the movie and his acting didn't do it for it me. it could be I'm already prejudiced against Nicholson? anyway, I did like the Wolfman movie with Benicio Deltoro though.
I think The Howling with Dee Wallace and Belinda Balinski (now an artist)is one of the smartest, wittiest of Werewolf movies . I wished Belinda a Happy Birthday on Facebook not long ago, saying she was one of my favorite Werewolf victims.(Her death is of the most horrifying deaths in Werewolf movies. )
Check out Romasanta aka Werewolf Hunter. Julian Sands plays a serial killer who historically was the first person in Spain to avoid the death penalty by reason of insanity because he believed he was in fact a werewolf which the movie shows from his perspective as well as others.
Another really entertaining video! So happy you’re releasing content more often. An interesting list of films. I would add, as several others have responded) I Was a Teenage Werewolf & The Werewolf. Both low budget from the ‘50’s, but unusual concepts & competent execution make them worth a look. Though Teenage Werewolf is pretty difficult to see now.
Man, I wish I loved Teenage Werewolf! I was very sad to be disappointed with it. But The Werewolf I’d never heard of before this comment section, and now I really wanna see it!
@@cobwebschannel Newest one that's getting a lot of hype is "Werewolf By Night". The only things wrong is that they have "Jack Russell" as a non blonde, almost Anton Lavey styled cult looking dude, plus, "Man Thing" makes a bit more than a cameo. To a degree, it plays out like a combo of "The Beast Must Die" with more hunter types & a Werewolf who done it? Styled Mystery if you're not already a Werewolf by Night comic book fan & know some of the characters. It would've been a "Monster Mash" but the 3 part Werewolf By Night Graphic novel could've been a movie on its own. @ least they made "Jack Russell" look more like he did & part of the transformation scene includes what his once "finished transforming" look used to be.
@@cobwebschannel Hmmm..ok maybe not a full on it's all about the werewolf but what about "Project Metal Beast"? Because once that character is shown, it IS all about the werewolf from there on in. As far as The Howling, they made the news reporter too "cute looking" to be thought of as a blood thirsty killer & that ruined it. There were a couple other moments that screwed it up as well.
My faves are #1 An American WW In London, 2 The Howling, 3 Bad Moon, 4 Ginger Snaps 5 Dog Soldiers. In my opinion these are what werewolves should look like. I would love a great remake of Silver Bullet done by Spielberg or Scorcese
When I was at the Universal Studios theme park in Florida in 1995, they had a special effects demonstration, and one of them was the growing snout werewolf head...the best part of the visit!
"The Howling" was a goofy movie, great for midnight showings. The give away and it really cracks me up, every character that turns out to be a werewolf has a can of Wolf Brand Chili placed in a shot somewhere. The part that wrecked the movie for me was Dee Wallace's final transformation. She essentially turns into a Pekingese with a cute little nose. 😂
I love it! And I love how you can arrange them: most bear-like werewolf; cutest werewolf: most distinguished-looking werewolf; most dog-like werewolf; most rebel-without-a-cause-like werewolf. . . . 🐺
The plot's really good and if the werewolf fx didn't consisted of what is basically a german shepherd in an over-coat I'd have probably said it was no1 on my lycanthrope film list 🥰
This film was actually based on a 1950 story of the same name, by Golden Age sc-fi writer James Blish, who died in 1975. Unknown if he managed to see it, or not.
I’m so glad The Boy Who Cried Werewolf made the list. This movie has a special place in my heart because it was the very first werewolf movie I ever watched and after watching it, my love and obsession with werewolves was born.
Good list. I haven't seen some of these so will definitely check them out. Also, if you haven't seen it. Check out the Werewolf TV series from the late 80s. I thought it was great and the Werewolf design was well done.
Two legged, bi-pedal wolves are favored. My picks, not in order… 1. The Howling 2. An American Werewolf in London 3. WER 4. Wolf of Snow Hollow 5. Werewolf: The Beast Among Us 6. Bad Moon 7. Blood Moon 8. Dog Soldiers 9. Howl 10. Never Cry Werewolf 11. Skinwalkers 12. Big Bad Wolf 13. Wolf 14. Cursed 15. The Cursed
I would personally put Ginger Snaps, The Howling and The Company of Wolves as my top 3. As far as ones you didn't include go I like Dog Soldiers and Wolf quite a bit. There's also a bizarre little movie from 1989 called My Mom's a Werewolf I have as kind of a guilty pleasure, I'm curious if you've seen that one.
@@cobwebschannel Some others--> Possibly the 1st ever werewolf who done it mystery -> 1974 "The Beast Must Die!" 2- I forget when it came out but "Weir" may be worthwhile? 3- This's currently on TUBI & is a tragic love story about a man & his now she's a werewolf wife called "Wolf Garden" - you may not like what they made the husband look like as a werewolf though, it looks a lot like the 1 in "Grimm", maybe even "Weir" or on UA-cam's "Alter" short films where they use the same idea twice for the "fully transformed werewolf" person. Another which is old & takes awhile before you get to the werewolves is an old Night Gallery episode called "The Haunted Farmhouse" that has David Carradine & David Mcallum ( of A- Old "The Outer Limits " B - old "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." C- Old "The Invisible Man" TV show in the mid to late 1970's & other things fame)
'Curse of the Werewolf' from 1960, and starring Oliver Reed is just brilliant - the story portrays the anguish and inner turmoil of a man at the mercy of the full moon and the consequences of his curse. Glorious colour and excellent transformation scenes make this probably my favourite werewolf film of all time.
I haven't really seen too many werewolf movies, so this was instructive. American Werewolf in London is definitely a gem. 1981 kind of seems like the "year of the lycanthopres" doesn't it? A movie that I have seen, which wasnt' on your list -- and I wonder if you know it -- is The Beast Must Die, from, I think, 1974. it's an Amicus horror/mystery film starring Peter Cushing, the recently-deceased Michael gambon, Charles Gray, Calvin Lockhart and more. It's set on the estate of this crazy rich guy obsessed with hunting, who's determined to bag a werewolf! There'sa mystery around which of the characters is a wolf, and a hilarious insertion of the studio (which the director hated) called "The Werewolf break", in which Valentine Diall's voice comes in to announcea thirty second pause in which the audience is supposed to guess who the werewolf is. The movie is terrific fun, although like some others on your list, there isn't a whole lot of werewolf action. The twists are unexpected and I do enjoy the characters quite a bit; you really get to see them interact and all their different personalities, leading you to draw conclusions about who might or might not be the werewolf.
I also stump for the incredible Dog Soldiers, which I easily put in MY top 5 werewolf movies (btw 1. Ginger Snaps, 2; Dog Soldiers 3. American Werewolf in London, 4.the Wolfman and 5. the Howling. If it was because you have not heard/seen Dog Soldiers, I highly, highly recommend you check it out. But yes, your list is nice too.
Will be trying to take in other mentions this month... Oh definitely two legs... 16... BONUS ... Skinwalkers... 15... Wolfcop II... (silly but enjoyable 1 & 2)... 14... Wolfcop... 13... The Howling... 12... Werewolves Within... 11... Wolf... 10... Wolfen... 09... Teen Wolf 08... The Company Of Wolves... 07... The Curse of the Werewolf... 06... Ginger Snaps... 05... Silver Bullet... 04... The Wolf Man (2010)... 03... Dog Soldiers... 02... The Wolf Man (1941)... 01... An American Werewolf in London...
I much prefer Wolf (1994). It's a very psycho-thriller that focuses more on the main character becoming a wolf than it does on the wolf itself. Also, I subscribe to the theory that Michele Pfeiffer's character was the wolf that bit Jack Nicholson's character in the beginning.
I love that movie. But I disagree with that theory. The curse seem to slowly overtime change people in to permanent wolf states. Will slowed his transformation down by wearing the medallion. He gave it to Laura by sleeping with her. Steward got bit by him earlier on. They were defiantly going to be permanent wolves by the end of that night they fought. Laura is next
I know this is a late post, but I've only just now watched this. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Company of Wolves was on this list because I LOVED this movie, but nobody else I've ever talked to has liked it. Thought it was amazing. I also agreed with most of your assessments of the ones I have seen, with the Universal Wolfman being the best. However, one that I really liked that didn't show up here was Wolfen from 1981 with Albert Finney.
I'm surprised to see the Boy Who Cried Werewolf on the list. Not because it's bad - I thought it was surprisingly good also, I just assumed it would be overlooked because Nickelodeon. Dog Soldiers gets my vote. Honestly I think the werewolf genre has a lot of unfulfilled potential. I know people love The Wolfman, but there's a lot more you could do with werewolves and very few films have tried.
Great video 👍 I cant believe that "I was a Teenage Werewolf" was not on here . . . My top 5 are 5: Teen Wolf 4: I was a Teenage Werewolf 3:The Company of Wolves 2: An American Werewolf in London And the greatest of all time; its actually my 14th favourite movie of all time; 1: The Woolf Man
Just discovered your channel. Great job presenting!!! I enjoy the fact that you immediately get to the purpose of the video rather than spending 5 minutes explaining what you are about to do. More often than not I lose interest and move on when that happens. In addition, it is evident that you are well versed in the genre. Your review of the film is well thought out with interesting insights. I look forward to viewing your other videos.
Amazing Werewolf movie ranking video buddy!!! My favorite werewolf movies are: Teen Wolf, Teen Wolf Too, The Wolf Man, The Wolfman, Werewolf The Beast Among Us, An American Werewolf In London, An American Werewolf In Paris, Bad Moon, The Company Of Wolves, Cursed, A Werewolf In Englund, Van Helsing, Trick r' Treat, Underworld Franchise, Red Riding Hood, Silver Bullet, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Wolf, The Howling, Bonehill Road, Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps, Ginger Snaps 2, Ginger Snaps The Beginning, Blood Moon, Teen Wolf The Movie, Werewolves Of The Third Reich, Wolfcop, Wolfcop II, Full Moon Rising, etc!
i'm sure they've been mentioned in the comments already, but missing from the list are... dog Soldiers, Wolf, Wolfen, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Wolfcop, and The Beast must Die. most of the other Howlings have their charm also.
Good list and great enthusiasm. Wrong about no1 of course! Surprised Dog Soldiers didn’t make the list. The Legend of the Werewolf (1975) had several Hammer names involved though not easy to find. Probably the most interesting film not on the list is Wolfen (1981) although it’s not a traditional werewolf movie. Also, Werewolf of Washington has to be worth a look.
Loved the Oliver Reed version at my local movie theatre when I was 11...I was so scared to watch the original Wolfman even on tv, I was about 8, 58', and had to sit next to Dad and his chair on the floor...🎃🎃🎃 How about' Wolfen', with Albert Finney?...
Id recommend a film called bad moon. It uses the trope of a kid that finds something horrible is going on, but everytime he tries to tell people they dont believe him, but with a dog. One of the most likeable and intelligent protagonists in a Werewolf movie for me. Plus bad moon has one of the best openings for a Werewolf movie hands down. Id also like to shout out late phases!
Nice work, dude. I don't always agree with your choices but I really dug that The Company of Wolves made your list, it's an important contribution. As are you. Your love of the horror film is a beautiful thing.
@@johnashton4776 it was like the Hulk, which I also like. But I think it would have been different if not for Chuck Connors contract problems. More episodes about the head werewolf would have made it Less like the Hulk. And if they had carried on with Remy as the head werewolf, it would have had a different vibe
Dog Soldiers is a film that should be here. However, I will forgive you because this is currently my favourite UA-cam horror channel. And that you are so cute, so easy on the eye helps !
Well this is quite an odd list. Ok I can accept The Wolfman (2010) and The Howling (1981) being lower than I would have put them since it's a personal choice thing but...leaving Dog Soldiers (2002), Howl (2015), The Beast Must Die (1974) & Legend of the Werewolf (1975) out completely while including kiddies' films like Teen Wolf (1985) is totally bizarre 🤯. Oh and you say Eddie Quist's transformation in The Howling serves no purpose but it does. He changes specifically at this time to scare the crap out of the reporter who's about to expose him and the others at the Colony before he kills her.
No surprise An American Werewolf in London made the list, but happy to see Silver Bullet also made it, high as well. I watched Silver Bullet as a teenager after its release in a movie theater and thought it was really great. 😎👍
Amazing that you included The Wolfman (2010), I love that movie and think it's very underrated. I'd have to say my favorite looking werewolves are in Van Helsing (2004). 26:15 I prefer werewolves on two legs too. If you don't know about these yet I recommend Howl (2015) and The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
16:12 actually, the premise is his brother has disappeared, and his fiancée has reached out to him to return to his family home to help in the search. Of course, as soon as he arrives, it's confirmed that he has been murdered by some kind of animal and off to the races we go. You have the original and the remake mixed up.
My favourite werewolf movie of all time is probably a mostly forgotten gem from the early 70s, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf starring Kerwin Matthews. Great script, and one of the creepiest werewolf designs ever seen on film. Then of course there's the even more obscure Werewolf of Woodstock, produced by Dick Clark's production company for ABC, also from the early 70s.
I really enjoyed Werewolf of London, and found the centeral emphasis on the botany really cool and unique, as someone who likes a "man-eating exotic plant" vibe! I love your lists, if you ever come across enough movies, a list of creepy monster plant movies (including things like Werewolf of London, Little Shop of Horrors) would be awesome!
Red Riding Hood (2011) is a top 5 for me. Good story, good music, good monster. I also liked Skinwalkers (2006) and Wolf (1994). A lot of movie lists include The Brotherhood of the Wolf. I love that movie, but don’t think it’s really a werewolf movie.
Daniel, thanks for this. I wish that lycanthropy was more of a Hulk-like "superpower" than the old bloodsoaked Jekyll-Hyde curse, but I can still appreciate the curse. I like it when the father surprises Michael J. Fox in the bathroom -- that dad is more the kind of werewolf I think I would turn out to be. Curse of the Werewolf is interesting -- if I recall correctly, it's as if the father becomes a werewolf simply by being brutalized and reduced to an animal while in prison. Jenny Agutter -- yeah, I hear you, I hear you. (I think all fours simply makes more sense, you can run -- and climb, and stalk -- better.) As great as Chaney Jr is, I think we also need to give a special shout out to Maria Ouspenskaya. Can't argue with your top two, although I have found myself diverted by Wolf -- Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Spader -- and the Underworld movies, in which Kate Beckinsale is a vampire assassin in black leather who falls for a "lycan." Also, might we call the Beast, from versions of Beauty and the Beast, a peculiarly articulate and urbane werewolf? My favorite version of Beauty and the Beast -- sorry, Disney -- is the old French version directed by Cocteau, I think there's a werewolf vibe going on there. So good to see a spotlight on a genre which I think could use more love and imagination. Happy October.
Oh shit I totally forgot about The Boy Who Cried Werewolf! I remember watching it on TV with my sisters and liking it, but it was my favorite movie for like a week if that. My Babysitter's a Vampire was my favorite kids "horror" movie/show. I didn't expect to see anything on the list that came out for kids while i was a kid (born in 2000), so it's nice being reminded of some of those movies
In my opinion, you missed a few: Wolf (1994), Dog Soldiers (2002), Werewolves Within (2021), Full Eclipse (1993), The Beast Must Die (1974), Howl (2015)
I have only seen 9 Paul Nashy films (more will be seen in the near future, I am sure), but the besides the one you mentioned, I liked a lot: The Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman 1971 Dr. Jekyll vs. the Werewolf 1972 (totally bonkers)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!...for finally being a voice that gave some much needed love to Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman". Loved the acting, the effects and the gothic tone of this film!!!
Where the hell was DOG SOLDIERS? Should be one of the top 2. You say you love bipedal werewolves? These are most convincing, scary and menacing bided werewolves in movie history. Can’t believe you thought some of your other choices topped this - arguably one of the greatest horror movies of all time, certainly one of the best WW movies.
You should read Gary Bradner's novel The Howling (1977) and its sequel, The Howling II (1978) (not The Howling III (1984), but if you must...). The first novel was the basis for the 1981 film, but has a much different plot. Another good novel series in Steve Vance's The Hyde Effect (1986) and its sequel, Shapes (1991).
I can't believe DOG SOLDERS did not make this list, just goes to show it's a completely underrated werewolf movie
Dude put Cursed on here, but no Dog Soldiers. Disgusting

Sounds interesting, although Skinwalkers are technically not werewolves per se. Though very closely related.
"Late Phases" is one of my favorites and worthy of further consideration.
Late Phases is such a good movie. I wish more people knew about it.

Agreed on all of these.
Anything with Whit Bissell is going to get my attention and who doesn’t love the idea of Michael Landon as a werewolf!
Thank you for mentioning my two favorites; Hammer's "Curse of the Werewolf" and the 2010 "The Wolfman". Two very different movies but both classics in their own way.
Dog soldiers would have made my list. Great video.
I do like how they portrayed the werewolves in the Jackman Van Helsing. The way they moved lightning fast and totally savage.
Wolf (1995) with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer is #1 for me WILDLY UNDERRATED
I tried watching this but couldn't get into it. I found it really slow. Maybe I should revisit it. It's been years
I heartily agree. It really gets short shrift.
Wolf is one of my favorite werewolf movies. It’s a werewolf movie that deals with aging, corporate politics and maneuvering, and ultimately, humanity. And the performances of the major characters are all very good to great. I just love it.
I was just thinking Wolf with jack Nickolson was the best warewolf it’s my favorite
I was in it ..uncredited park scene
DOG SOLDIERS not listed! A modern day classic and a great Brit flick.
Agreed !
Very respectable list, especially number 1. I think I'd include Brotherhood of the Wolf somewhere in my list.
Love that movie, but it’s not technically a werewolf movie, is it?
Brotherhood of the Wolf is off the chain. Love it
I love Brotherhood of the Wolf! Great French film!👍🏻😎
Brotherhood of the wolf is great!!, but not a werewolf movie
I was going to say this film and the Wolf of snow hollow...but are they werewolf films?!?
"The Wolfman" with Benecio Del Toro, " The Howling", and "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans".
American Werewolf in Paris, "sequel" of in Lodon is are 2 of my favorites, Dog Soldiers is awesome too
How in the hell did Dog Soldiers and Late Phases not make a top 10, much less 15??? Nick Damici gives one of the best acting performances in ANY WW movie ever and gets snubbed...and Dog Soldiers has the best werewolves in any WW flick to date. WHAT?
So happy to see Silver Bullet get its due. It was my first werewolf movie as a kid.
You miss WOLF (1994). Great performance by Jack Nicholson
Haven’t seen it in years and don’t remember being a fan, but maybe it deserves a second watch. 👍
Yes a very good movie. And put Howling at nr 10 🤔 this is an awful list
@@cobwebschannel please make a video for the movies featuring WereCats also known as Cat People please
@@cobwebschannelI saw it when it was released (I'm a few decades older than you.) and I didn't care for it.
I'm more of a werewolf fan than a Jack Nicholson fan. the movie and his acting didn't do it for it me. it could
be I'm already prejudiced against Nicholson? anyway, I did like the Wolfman movie with Benicio Deltoro though.
Have you seen Wer?
It's a great original, brutal story that departs traditional lycanthropy.
But keeps the trace elements.
I think The Howling with Dee Wallace and Belinda Balinski (now an artist)is one of the smartest, wittiest of Werewolf movies . I wished Belinda a Happy Birthday on Facebook not long ago, saying she was one of my favorite Werewolf victims.(Her death is of the most horrifying deaths in Werewolf movies. )
I absolutely love that you gave Teen Wolf some love and attention! This is a guilty pleasure of mine and I just adore this movie.
Me too I love the soundtrack too. I have a funko pop of Scott too
Check out Romasanta aka Werewolf Hunter.

Newest one that's getting a lot of hype is "Werewolf By Night".
@@cobwebschannel
Hmmm..ok maybe not a full on it's all about the werewolf but what about "Project Metal Beast"?
I love it! And I love how you can arrange them: most bear-like werewolf; cutest werewolf: most distinguished-looking werewolf; most dog-like werewolf; most rebel-without-a-cause-like werewolf. . . . 🐺
Amicus made a guilty-pleasure werewolf movie called The Beast Must Die that I have always enjoyed.
I love The Beast Must Die 🥰
As I said earlier that would be high on my list
The plot's really good and if the werewolf fx didn't consisted of what is basically a german shepherd in an over-coat I'd have probably said it was no1 on my lycanthrope film list 🥰
This film was actually based on a 1950 story of the same name, by Golden Age sc-fi writer James Blish, who died in 1975. Unknown if he managed to see it, or not.
I’m so glad The Boy Who Cried Werewolf made the list. This movie has a special place in my heart because it was the very first werewolf movie I ever watched and after watching it, my love and obsession with werewolves was born.
That’s so cool to hear! It’s a fun movie.
The Werewolf of Washington (1973) starring Dean Stockwell. It’s camp, it’s silly and it’s kinda fun.
I saw that on Tubi
I recently watched the movie, "Wer". Highly entertaining werewolf movie with a twist on the common theme.
Company of wolves, all the Ginger snaps, Dog Soldiers, Wolf and Wolfman.
Silver Bullet is my ALL time favorite werewolf movie!!! ❤
That’s awesome!
Good list. I haven't seen some of these so will definitely check them out. Also, if you haven't seen it. Check out the Werewolf TV series from the late 80s. I thought it was great and the Werewolf design was well done.
It was ended much too soon. Would love to see a reboot. The pilot was especially well done
Howling and Dog Soldiers are my favourites!!!
Then I’m so sorry!! Hope you still enjoyed my weirdo opinions. haha
Two legged, bi-pedal wolves are favored. My picks, not in order…
1. The Howling
2. An American Werewolf in London
3. WER
4. Wolf of Snow Hollow
5. Werewolf: The Beast Among Us
6. Bad Moon
7. Blood Moon
8. Dog Soldiers
9. Howl
10. Never Cry Werewolf
11. Skinwalkers
12. Big Bad Wolf
13. Wolf
14. Cursed
15. The Cursed
I agree with you 100% you have a great order pick list
I would personally put Ginger Snaps, The Howling and The Company of Wolves as my top 3. As far as ones you didn't include go I like Dog Soldiers and Wolf quite a bit. There's also a bizarre little movie from 1989 called My Mom's a Werewolf I have as kind of a guilty pleasure, I'm curious if you've seen that one.
I haven’t seen that one yet!
I loved my mom is a Werewolf as a kid. Not a great film but fun and different
You should check out Howl from 2015 if you haven't seen it. Really cool movie about a group of people trapped on a train being attacked by werewolves.
Cool, thank you!

Some others-->
Possibly the 1st ever werewolf who done it mystery -> 1974 "The Beast Must Die!"
2- I forget when it came out but "Weir" may be worthwhile?
Yes, this was a fantastic werewolf film that I've watched a number of times.
Dog Soldiers!
The curse of the werewolf is a banger movie.
A true classic. Where Hammer films are concerned, this one ties with
"Curse of Frankenstein". At least it does with me.
You missed "Dog Soldiers" 😮
11... Wolf...
10... Wolfen...
09... Teen Wolf
08... The Company Of Wolves...
07... The Curse of the Werewolf...
06... Ginger Snaps...
05... Silver Bullet...
04... The Wolf Man (2010)...
03... Dog Soldiers...
02... The Wolf Man (1941)...
01... An American Werewolf in London...
The curse in Curse of the Werewolf is consistent with Sicilian folklore.
I know people love The Wolfman, but there's a lot more you could do with werewolves and very few films have tried.
haha Yeah I knew that one would be the weird unexpected pick. I love to have at least one on lists.
I saw that on TV in the late seventies. We had brilliant horror telemovies back then. Sometimes involving William Shatner. 😼
Great video 👍
I cant believe that "I was a Teenage Werewolf" was not on here . . .
My top 5 are
5: Teen Wolf
4: I was a Teenage
Werewolf
3:The Company of Wolves
2: An American Werewolf in London
And the greatest of all time; its actually my 14th favourite movie of all time;
1: The Woolf Man
Glad you included blu-ray/streaming availabilities! Great work man!
Thanks!!
Thank you so much!
I was expecting Dog Soldiers be number one. It still has the best and most lifelike Werewolf design🐺🔥
Wow, what a list!! There's a few in here I still need to see.
Inspiring! Now I've got some new movies to watch and some others to revisit! 🎃
My favorites are the Wolfman with Lon Chaney Jr and Curse of the Werewolf by Hammer.
The Howling at #1... :)
i'm sure they've been mentioned in the comments already, but missing from the list are... dog Soldiers, Wolf, Wolfen, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Wolfcop, and The Beast must Die. most of the other Howlings have their charm also.
I was a big fan of Wolf (with Jack Nicholson) when it came out.
"Classic horror" story. (Book).
The dark cry of the moon.
Charles L Grant.
Set in Oxrun Station. 🙂👍
The Wolfman with Lon Chaney and Curse Of The Werewolf are my all time favorites as I grew up with them.
I know it's primarily a film about publishing, but I would have also included Mike Nichols' Wolf.
Nice list, I will catch up on some of these movies
The movie Dog Soldiers is my all time favorite werewolf movie. It's perfect
I reallylove universal studios wolf man with lon Chaney Jr. The special effects are ahead of its time in American werewolf of London.
And I like 'em walking upright too.
Nice work, dude. I don't always agree with your choices but I really dug that The Company of Wolves made your list, it's an important contribution. As are you. Your love of the horror film is a beautiful thing.
The Werewolf television show had the potential to be really great but was cancelled too soon. I would love to see a reboot
Very similar to the Hulk close to werewolf by night yet bigger.
@@johnashton4776 it was like the Hulk, which I also like. But I think it would have been different if not for Chuck Connors contract problems. More episodes about the head werewolf would have made it Less like the Hulk. And if they had carried on with Remy as the head werewolf, it would have had a different vibe
Dog Soldiers, Late Phases, Howl and Wolf would be on my list but hey, it's your list.
Great list! Have you seen Howl (2015) or Wer (2013)? I like both of them.
I haven’t, but thank you for the recommendations!
Have you seen WER (2013).
@@D33Lux No I haven't. Will check it out 😇
16:12 actually, the premise is his brother has disappeared, and his fiancée has reached out to him to return to his family home to help in the search.
Our host doesn't care for the 1972 Ketwin Matthews film, but I think it's a decent film.
My top 5 favorite werewolf movies:
5) The Cursed (8 for Silver)
4) Wolf
3) The Howling
2) Curse of the Werewolf
1) An American Werewolf in London
I didn't expect to see anything on the list that came out for kids while i was a kid (born in 2000), so it's nice being reminded of some of those movies
haha I’m glad someone enjoyed it, because others have been mad about that pick. 😅 But yeah, I like that movie!
In my opinion, you missed a few: Wolf (1994), Dog Soldiers (2002), Werewolves Within (2021), Full Eclipse (1993), The Beast Must Die (1974), Howl (2015)
im sooo glad silver bullet is in your list!
I have only seen 9 Paul Nashy films (more will be seen in the near future, I am sure), but the besides the one you mentioned, I liked a lot:
The Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman 1971
Dr. Jekyll vs. the Werewolf 1972 (totally bonkers)
Thank you!
