There was a wonderful call-back to the Edge/Kofi chamber spot when Kingston entered the Elimination Chamber during the KofiMania run. Before getting to the ring, Kofi glanced backwards to make sure no-one was going to attack him from behind, which is great continuity.
Pretty sure he did this on another elimination chamber matches prior to his mania run, props to Kingston to remembering storylines - something wwe themselves forget far too often 😂💯
@@titanhades4331 I disagree with this. Kofi was and is still well regarded, most people were angry at the awful booking and decision to have him beat by Brock so easily. IN short, most look at WWE being a joke, not Kofi.

The Great American Bash 2006. The Great Khali is pulled out of his own match that was specifically created for him and replaced with The Big Show. Yeah Khali wasn't cleared to compete but still I find that hilarious they made the Punjabi Prison match for him and he isn't even in it
The wingman for that was Big Show and he does a masterful job of portraying not wanting to be in the match, which actually was pretty good because you had two guys who could actually wrestle and go for as long as you needed them!
No one who watched wrestling week to week in 90s would have put the fake Razor/Diesel as 8 on this list. People were bleeping furious and switched to WCW for weeks to come.
Another Announcer bait and switch (and switch back, I guess) was Cole teasing Stone Cold as the special guest ref only for JBL to come out, but then Austin took it. (Turns "Days since Lawler v Cole Mania feud referenced" counter back to 0.)
Could just be me, but as much as It gets beaten into the ground on the IWC, which I get because the rematch wasn't really in demand, I didn't go into WM 28 with the impression that Rock/Cena was be an absolute, one time only, once in a lifetime match. In fact, I didn't even realize that was the show's tagline until people started roasting them about it years later.
Here's one. I went to an indie show in 2000 cuz Vader was supposed to be there. Turns out it was a guy called "Big Slam Vader." The fake Vader was gassed before he hit the ring.
You know, I don't think we ever got to see The Rock versus Triple H versus Stone Cold Steve Austin in a triple threat match at all during that era or even near the end of one of their full-time careers. Closest we'd ever get to seeing that match would be in a video game correct? And not to play armchair Booker, but do you think they could have actually done the match and then had Austin written out getting injured during the match? IDK. Oh well
They could’ve easily pulled Rock out of his feud with Billy Gunn circa 1999 after he was sufficiently done burying him in promos, and put Rock in the main event. A fatal 4 way between Austin, Rock, Mankind and HHH for the WWF Championship with Ventura as the guest ref? Sign me the fuck up
How about that time Hulk Hogan was trapped in a cave. First of all you'd expect there'd be Hulkamaniacs there but - bait and switch - he says "there's no Hulkamaniacs here!" Then he sticks his hand in a fountain. You expect it to be hot but bait-and-switch - he says "AHHHH! It's not hot!"
I’m actually surprised WWF won the Wars, given some of the decisions made early on, like the fake Diesel and Razor. Why don’t you just broadcast that WCW has better talent? WCW’s problem was never access to the best wrestlers. It was presenting them in an effective way. Bischoff got too hooked on the NWO and wouldn’t push young talent and Russo - well, there was that viagra on a pole match. That about says it all. Apparently nobody knows how to run a wrestling company. Stone Cold and the Rock saved WWF. If those guys didn’t dominate Raw and Smackdown, we probably don’t have any wrestling of consequence today.
Honestly, and some people will see it as such, it's not so much that WWE did tremendously better during the wars as it really was WCW was doing tremendously worse. Such a mindset can be found or explained in the Death of WCW book.
Another particularly bad bait and switch from WWF involving Austin was the night after SummerSlam 97, when they had Austin open that night's Raw by challenging Owen Hart to a rematch that night... Just 24 hours after he had his neck almost broken! WWF knew he couldn't wrestle but spent the first half of the show hyping Austin vs Owen for later that night... They finally showed a segment of Austin being told by a doctor that he couldn't wrestle late in the show but I'm sure it kept a lot of fans from switching to Nitro.
It was a confluence of many things. Promising a huge main event that only lasted seconds, a reformed nWo no one wanted, the squashing of Goldberg, the "butts in seats" comment and mass channel switch, etc.
