I admit I was unsure about this, even when I started to listen, as I absolutely adore the original. But I don't see this in any way as trying to erase the original, the fact is, Timmy is sadly no longer with us and Lockie chose to leave, The song is too good to be resigned to the archives, so what better to do than to re-release it with the vocals of the current line up to reflect what is and not what was? The original will never be forgotten by true fans, but this gives us a version to look forward to on the live tour! Great job guys, well done
Hey guys! Great sound and great video, welcome back! A huge ray of sunshine in this last year of awfulness! Love the new production values and the inclusion of Jay's vocals too - all your solo vocals have never sounded so good. Obvs, some people fail to grasp that it's your tenth anniversary and the reason for redoing the song and just come here to troll and moan on about the original. Reality check, people - Timmy is no longer here, he is missed by us all and has been spoken about with genuine fondness and sincerity and love by the boys on several occasions. Lachie/Lockie left of his own accord, so yes if you want to go follow him, that's fine - leave the guys to do what they do without bringing them down all the time. Things move on, THIS is your line up now and Jay is not there to replace anyone, but he is doing extremely well as part of the group of which Mike, Daz and Mark have always been members, it never was just Lachie/Lockie and Timmy. Well done, guys.

Well said George you have said exactly what my mum and me have been saying for a while now. The boys are amazing and we love and appreciate them so much. We also are fans of Lockie to and will never forget Timmy.
I am not here to compare the 2.0 version with the original version. The Overtones always give me good vibes and positive energy. They always care about their fans. These things have not been changed and I love them because of the music and love they have been brought to us. Congratulations on a 10 year anniversary. Here's to many more years of love and gorgeous music!
I actually love both versions ☺️ All them 10 years ago when i first found you guys was with the original version, me coming back to you guys after a while away to return for the 10th anniversary with this awesome version im all smiles like the rest of the toners.

I absolutely love both versions but I think the original has my heart because it’s the song I fell in love with the band with. Lachie was my favourite voice because of how deep it was but I think that also links in with my dad had a deeper singing voice too. But I am a toner for life and can also follow Lachie too. Super excited to see the guys 3 times this year!! Yay!!!

So i loved this song 9 years ago and didn‘t listen a long long time to it.
So now i randomly remembered that it exists and they put out a 2.0 version 20 h ago.
Fantastic version of an amazing song... I love how adaptable you guys are yet still keeping the same feel and vibe.. So cool to see this version 10 years on sung with 3 original Overtones members!! Not many bands can say that ❤️

i love both versions, the original because you can hear our irish angel Timmy and the deep bass voice of the sexy Lockie Chapman but I love how the boys with the brilliant jay in the line up have made it into something new.
The energy in this version is incredible, can't sit still while listening to it!

I remember seeing you live back in March 2011 at the hmv institute in Birmingham and the crowd went wild when you sang this song. I've been a fan since the very beginning and I've seen you live and had the chance to meet you more times than I can count and I've always been in your corner but this song should have not been re-released it was beautiful how it was with the five original members of the group. I'm normally jumping around like a kid on Christmas morning whenever the is new music from you guys but this just made me sad without Timmy and Lockie it's just not right I'm sorry but I won't be listening to this version this isn't my Gambling Man some things are best just left alone it was perfect as it was 😥
This is a brilliant new direction to take this song and the group in. Lockie’s bass and Timmy’s lead are what made the original such a success, but sharing the vocal has turned this into a great ensemble piece. Mark and Darren get a shot in centre stage now, Jay adds a confident new vocal style and Mike is the suave frontman with impressive vocal flourishes. So begins a new chapter.
Not going to lie, I found the original on a Phone Guy x Purple Guy animation when I as 11 and the song became some kind of a joke with old friends due to that. Just now I found this new version and it gives me this weird, happy feelings of the song that became a theme of my childhood growing up with me.

Sadly only the original will ever be my favourite. I always thought I would be a toner for life but when Jay came in I left! He looks the part.....but I really don't like his voice 😕 😐 so I left. I wish them all the very best in the world and hope they go from strength to strength. For me I will go follow lockie, whilst keeping an eye on how the guys are doing.
Completely agree with everything you said. I saw them in concert at the end of 2019 and it just didn't feel right. They are no longer The Overtones I first fell in love with and to do this song of all the others is just wrong. It's not Gambling Man without the original lineup.

You have no idea how they could have felt after Lockie and Timmy. How do I know? Because I used to be in a band and I also lost 2 of my friends from a car accident. Do not judge people.
I totally agree, I kept wanting to hear Lachies deep tones, and the lack of it just didn't do it for me! I know these boys want to continue making great music, but they need to look forward and reinvent and not look to the past. Gambling Man will always be the original line up only for me! You can't rework perfection x

I miss Timmy 😢 Overtones 2.0 just doesn't hit the mark for me, its so sad because their gigs were some of my favourite nights. I understand the want to carry on but re-recording old material I don't think is a good idea, it just emphasises how much Timmy and Lockie are missed 😔
