    Wonder if this could be the issue with my 3400 2005 monte? It has gone from around 450 miles per fill up to around 275-300 per fill up. No code showing, hard starts at times, 135,000+ miles.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage 5 місяців тому

      Possibility, it is old even though it only has 135k miles. Getting close to 150k is when i like to start changing sensors and coils. They all wear out but sensors and stuff like the regulator can be weak and not working at 100% and a light wont come on. did you change plugs at 100K?

    • @HamRadioTrainsThings
      @HamRadioTrainsThings 5 місяців тому

      @@EfurdGarage Yes changed plugs around 130,000 miles, second set of plugs since I have had the car in 2007. Also changed the plug wires, and every sensor except the o2 sensors. I don't hear any fuel pump wine noise either. Seems like it has hard starts during cooler weather and the gas pedal feels a little stiff. Today it fired with no hesitation, later iI could fire it up and it would take a few seconds to start instead of instant. Took the hose off the top of the fuel pressure regulator today, before I started the car and there wasn't any fuel that came out.

    I got no fuel in the pressure line so i installed an old good pump mainline ina bucket of fuel. I got pressure and the engine would not run or start but pressure was present. What keeps the fuel from getting into the engine?

    • @EfurdGarage

      Fuel filter, bad pump, trash in lines. Bent/kinked line. I have had lines that i disconnted on both ends and with an air blower shot stuff out the other end. You can do what you did to get fuel to the engine but the engines requires a a certain fuel pressure before it will even start. So a weak pump will be hard or wont start an engine

      first you will want to check the wires to the coil and make sure its plugged in and no damaged wires. i believe there was a sensor under that cover as well be sure that it is good and plugged in. being a miss for the most part it should be the plugs or coil. it could possibly be the crank sensor since it can cause a miss and not start. i would possible look into the cam sensor as well.

    I just did this fix and messed something up. I'm not able to work on the car for a few days but if someone could give me some pointers I would appreciate it. the problem is now I think i cause a gas leak. when I put the car in the on position the fuel pressure goes up and falls back down. when the car is running it still works fine and I have good pressure but I think it is just pumping faster than its leaking. my thought is that when I pulled the regulator out to get access I might have damaged a seal or something.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage 4 роки тому

      I would double check. You should be able to see fuel and smell it. Make sure the line is tight and not criss threaded. If you remove it go ahead and get a new o ring.
