The giraffe tools hose reel review video will be posted next Sunday. Thanks for watching!
How many Quikrete 50 lb. Fast-Setting Concrete Mix bags did you use to set the 6x6 post? Please advise. Many thanks.
@@ReluctantDIYers Understood. I've got two hose reels to mount on two 6"x6" posts and I didn't want to buy way too much Quikrete. According to the bag directions, I would need at least 4 bags per hole, but like you, I am not going to did holes 18 inches in diameter. Thanks again!
@jeffdestes You should be good with two bags. Maybe buy one extra bag that you can split between both holes IF needed. 👍🏼
Nice demo. Now if the F’N hose reel will keep the retraction tension. Mine is 3 mo old and No Tension to retract hose.
OH NO!!! I’m so sorry to hear that. Mine still has the tension and we use it often.
I've been watching a lot of video reviews on these, and this seems to be a common problem. Seems they end up not wanting to fulling retract, and when retracting, it's very slow after several months of usage.
@@janetta5827 I’ve seen a bunch of similar comments recently. Since installing ours, we’ve had zero functional issue.
Mine was used twice, it's broke. Zero tension. Not abused, barely used
@@caseyspringer7442 Oh man… that’s terrible. Thank you for taking the time to share this. Hopefully Giraffe replaced it or refunded you. I’m curious how they handle these situations.
what did you use to drill the bracket? is that an impact drill
I used my Dewalt 20v Hammer Drill (I did not turn on the hammer feature for this). The accuracy of the pilot holes on this project is super important.
Is there a reason not to just attach the hose reel to your house? I’m a new homeowner and not too knowledgeable. Thanks for the help!
You can definitely attach it directly to your house. It’s a different process depending on whether you’re connecting it to cement, brick, siding or another surface. But you can definitely do so.
For us, I wanted to have the hose reel closer to our garden, which meant it had to go on the far side of the deck. I was also planning a fence, which I just finished, and knew I was going to put a gate right there where we could pass the hose straight through to the vegetable garden.
I hope this helps! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is what I'm considering too. Just don't want permanent holes in my stucco home for a product that might not last.
Do you have room to place a post in the ground in that area? I completely understand what you’re saying.
Yes and that's the direction I'm leaning. Thanks for the great video!
@justhereforthecomments628 You’re welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
1/2 155' or 5/8 115'?
Good question… I honestly don’t recall. I want to say it was 5/8, but am not 100% certain.
I thought wood rotted when set into concrete
@ReluctantDIYers okay awesome thanks for the quick reply I'm looking to do this exact setup!!
Water acumulates at the base, then gets into the wood and eventually will break. I dont understand people that puts wood in concrete.
