Polybius describes roman legionnaries as fighting in a more open order than pike phalanxes, yet here they seem to be much closer order. I'm struggling to see how they would manage to throw their pila or even fight with their swords: they'd keep bashing into their neighbours beside and behind them.

The Punic wars is one of my favorite ancient periods to read about and emulate with Total war, those minis look really good on the pictures.

Ah Polybius, I haven't read that for 20 years! I am sure you are right, I remember he writes in a lot of details about equipment and recruitment.
