Thank you SO MUCH Kenny!!!!😭😭 I saw this come up today and have been dying to say thank you!!! I am so happy you found the information helpful!! It's a well built tank that's for sure - but it comes with some BITE and some quirk's. Thank you Again for making this channel so much fun to do!
Awesome Josh! I really like the styling and the Japanese pattern for the grip is cool. It has a thick heavy look overall. As much as I do like the look, whenever I see teeth that come to a point, it always gives me pause. They could have rounded the tips and not affected the aesthetics of the razor and provided for a more comfortable shave. I got the Double Open Comb from PAA when it first came out and I ended up sending it back. It felt like I was dragging a fork across my face, but I do know they made some changes and smoothed it out. It's one I'm interested in and maybe they'll be doing some changes along the way, like they did with the Pearl. Pretty cool!
Absolutely my friend, it definitely is bit more scratchy when the angle isn't spot on. I tried to do lots of close ups just to make it clear. Thanks so much for joining me!
Seriously the thing looks radical. It backs the aggressive styling up with some BITE but overall - it was a great shave! Thanks for joining me my friend!
I am really liking the look of this one. As others have mentioned the handle looks great. My buddy has the Pearl and really enjoys it this OC model looks like it could be a decent razor. Nice review and shave, great video as always.
Ayyyeee spot on brother!! I think they did a good job with this for sure - I wish mine had ever slightly less blade feel but I think anyone reaching for this razor will know it's got some kick! Thanks so much for watching and for always dropping that comment!
That handle looks so cool. I don't really need an open comb, but I sure do love the way they look! About the rattle... how cool is it that this doubles as a baby toy!? I bet it's easy for babies to get BBS shaves.
Dude so much!! The handle really does look super cool, I wish to the end of the world that I could disassemble the thing! That rattle is too much for me to take on the daily 🤣
Thrilled to have provided some perspective! The shave is pretty aggressive, and imho, it's one OC I use very infrequently. Ample smoothness at the right angle - but it takes some care to avoid nicks 👍 Thanks for joining me!
Got rex ambassador & flexi sb both are great, rex ambassador is better made +lighter head (more expensive) Flexi is alot cheaper, bit more heft but u get used 2 it. Get whichever fits ur budget.. P.s ordered the flexi open comb over the rex konsul + as some say its better + Pearl alot cheaper!!
While this is a gorgeous razor and feels great in the hand, it is a horrible shaver in my opinion. For the first time ever, I found a razor that was way too aggressive and also left stubble. I did two passes with this razor, still had patches of stubble, yet I knew it would leave me with bad razor burn if I did a cleanup pass. This razor is NOT a good shaver, it is the worst shaving razor I have ever had unfortunately. My R41 is an aggressive razor that I have used for face and head shaves. However, it is super efficient and leaves no stubble behind. So I usually need one pass and some touch up. That is what I was expecting from this razor, and it did not deliver on any of it. Great entertaining video though Subie ! Keep up the good work !
It's got WICKED bite for sure! I agree here, the thing definitely lacks some of the refinement that the R41 (especially of the 2nd generation R41) has. Part of me wonders how much of this is due to the weight, shape, angle, as the clamping mechanism is quite good (as is the dial and adjustment wheel). I've had good experiences with some mild blades in it - could be worth cycling through a few to see if you can find a match? That said, for me, I'd say this has all the right things smashed together, but still falls behind their flat bar - again At least for me. It's a beautiful razor, and a tank of a shaver, but I think it would benefit by having more refinement in the lower numbers to accommodate a larger user base. 👍❤️ Thanks again for your comment, I really appreciate you being here and taking the time to support what we do!
@@SubieShaves I like the Pearl Flexi solid bar, it's an excellent shaver and smooth. Something is wrong with this open comb version though, or at least mine. I am going to have to look more closely at the blade alignment. I would take a razor stroke through my beard and the path of the razor had some very close spots but also left patches of hair. I used and Astra green blade, so I know it wasn't the blade. Something is just off with it. Gorgeous razor and I love the handle, just wish it shaved as good as it looks.
Thanks for reviewing the new Pearl Flexi OC. Hats off to Pearl for bringing an OC to an adjustable. They definitely need to come out with a V2 and fix the rattle and other nit picks (wavy finish, 140g weight) ,and not rush it out with the flaws. The wet shaving market is becoming so competitive with quality, refinement, and bang for buck, and that is what is wanted , and getting purchased by lot of us. This is razor is for the most part, a novelty razor much like the Bohemian ,but without the quality control. I am sure the new Blackland adjustable will be innovative and amazing, and more something a lot of us would spend bigger $$ for The review is done, would love to see this razor "Subified" into a OC Flexi Rexy with a Jelly-handle. Subie, you are the King of Frankenrazors - love seeing your modded razors and the hacks! Your older videos are classic! Go to town on this one! Please show us the result when the Subification is complete Have a great week!
@@SubieShaves They have a few available today....snagged one!!...can't wait for it to arrive! Looking forward to your review...it looks really classy! under 100g just under 3.5 in!! When you do your review, show us how to take the razor apart to change springs ect if needed. Thanks Subie!
Well, Homelike makes an all stainless steel OC adjustable version of their Taiga razor. Unfortunately, we can't purchase these outside of Russia because of the proxy economic and military war. If we could, it would cost about $213. Homelike did not "cancel" the OC variant of the Taiga. The first version of the Taiga shipped with two base plates, one solid bar, and one open comb. They chose to abandon this kind of bundling in favor of two separate variants of the razor. They make the Taiga in SS or TI, polished or matte finish, SB or OC. But, you can't buy one outside of Russia right now because the credit card clearing houses have banned Russia due to the proxy war.
Good to hear and thank you for clarifying! It's hard I have reached out to them on many occasions, the language barrier definitely is a challenge. I was under the impression it had been cancelled - but perhaps it was more "out of stock" or "unavailable" or something. No idea. I go over and look about once a week at all the stuff they're doing - the new slant looks amazing. A bit pricey but they all look well made 👍
@@SubieShaves Yes, it is frustrating. Now that we cannot buy these razors, because of the economic sanctions against Russia, they are back in stock! Someday this stupid war will end... Russia is trying to work out a credit card clearing house arrangement with an Indian firm. We will see. Until then, I am looking elsewhere for a Gibbs Adjustable inspired razor. I am very enthusiastic about the Heritage Collection Shaving brass Gibbs Adjustable production run which should drop in the near future. Their products are a pain in the butt to acquire, and i can't figure out why. They are USA based, and native English speaking...
Nice shave Subie. Thanks for the info on this. Mine is on the way. I can't wait to compare notes on it. Have a great day and smooth shaves
Thanks for tuning in and for dropping a comment my friend!! I hope you truly love the shave and that you have nothing but smooth skin with it!!
Nice shave. Intro was awesome. Looks like a great adjustable open comb razor. I like the handles pattern. Have a great weekend buddy.
Ayyyye thanks Mike for joining me for the day! It's always cool to try something brand new to the market and this is a super interesting concept.
