I had one that did the cytopoint shots, and they were just amazing for him. Sometimes they lasted a long time, and sometimes they’d only last a month, but he didn’t seem to itch at all once he started taking them. Amazing stuff! Hope they work that well for Milo. Just curious, is Milo white or silver salt/pepper? I don’t get the opportunity to pick a lot of people’s brains that have had multiple Schnauzers so I’d be interested to know if it seems like the lighter colored dogs suffer more from allergies than the others, I tend to think they do, but that could just be my experience and not indicative of anything at all. The 2 I have now are black and Black and silver. They don’t seem to have much of a problem with allergies at all.. Think it’s just the luck of the draw or what?

H was absolutely stunning, but he did have more allergy problems than any other schnauzer that I’d had in the past, and the 2 I have now rarely ever have itching problems at all. I wondered if it was just my dogs or if that was pretty common. I used to do my own grooming, but have taken these 2 to a groomer (because I really have a bad case of O.L.D. these days.). She says that white dogs seem to have more allergy problems, the white dogs shed grooms are breeds other than Schnauzer (ie, West Highland, etc.). Anyway, it’s a good thing to know in the future. I really like the black hair - it’s much easier to care for - doesn’t seem to mat as bad as the salt/pepper - it’s very soft.
Just another thing about the black schnauzers - they do seem to have a stronger “doggie smell” thank the lighter colored ones have - or alt least, mine do, and I don’t see any other reason why the would since I feed them the same as I’ve always fed my dogs.
I have had the same VCA vet for almost 20 yrs and I love her. My bichon was on same treatment as Milo. He was started on Apoquel for awhile then changed to Cyto point that really helped him.

My husband and I were a bit itchy but didn't think anything about it, but my Cairn Terriest had a huge rash everywhere near her tail and we took her to the vet. It turns out she was allergic to fleas. She was also allergic to the flea shots (she threw up in the vet's lobby) and the vet gave us some puppy pads for the car and said she was going to do that for a while. So Milo may be allergic to mites and the other dogs not.
Mites sometimes can come from grass or leaves. Had the same problem with one of my past dogs. Not all will get it. But if they have allergic skin they will.
Milo is so sweet lol but then again all your boys are and even though I am a cat lover I still love dogs too lol you take time off from you tube you deserve it to spend time with hubby and family I can wait we your subscribers will be here by the way I have 5 cats myself 3 girls and two boys and boy they are a trip lol
Oh my goodness, I know all about that itchy skin. Poor dogs, my schnauzers I adopted last year have skin issues. My vet has them on Cytopoint injections, Pyo (a once a week topic oil), and prescription shampoo( Virbac Keratolux, and one dog on that shampoo as well as Cerasoothe) every 5 days! But it works, so whatever relief they can get! It was so bad before that they would turn red as beets and the areas actually seeped fluid that was sticky, but so far so good! Glad your dogs are doing great!

Kim, how do you get your boys to stand in the sink for their baths? My dogs, Max and Penny will not stand still like that. I have to put them in my walk in shower with me and then use the detachable wand to get them wet and then to rinse them off after the shampoo! 😂
After watching you bathe Milo I am going to put my Mini Schnauzer Rose in the tub and give her a bath. What kind of dog shampoo do you use?? Gee...your house is so beautiful!!

He’s white and silver. Many people have told me white schnauzers have more difficulties with allergies. None of my other boys had allergy problems.

Yes what Kind of shampoo do you use I have a disabled schnauzer and he has to wear diapers and he gets flaky skin under the diaper on his back .
Apoquel doesn’t work for mine. She’s on cytopoint and for her pain is librela she’s 9 years old
