    Please correct me if I'm wrong. I was told by a propane unit professional installer, that the correct pipe dope to use for this application is propane pipe dope, which is green, I believe.. Personal I don't know the difference other then the color. Thank You for a great video

      @DIYWISCO  6 днів тому

      I have seen all different colors, green white yellow, as long as it states that it is for propane threaded joints then you’re good to go

    Great Video!!!!-Is there a reason you ran the gas line on the exterior of the building rather than the inside???????

      That way I more freedom for storage like cabinets/tool storage etc without the pipe being in my way

    Did you use any screws to attach the vent pipe to the heater? Seems kind of loose when slipping it on.

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  20 днів тому +2

      I did, I used 3, I thoughr the same seemed kinda loose

    Good video!
    Only question i have is: do you use pipe sealant on the union? I noticed you did not.

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  Місяць тому +1

      No, you’re not supposed to use sealant on unions, they are designed to seal when the two surfaces meet all on their own

      Did you use all 4 terminals on the back of the unit for thermostat?
      Got the whole system hooked up, looks great.... Won't do anything 😂.
      I'm a tile installer, guess I should stick with that!😂

      Yes I did, that way I can run just the fan if I decide to in the summer

    Did you use a two wire thermostat? I assume red to R and white to W. That’s what I have but it won’t turn on. Thanks.

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  16 днів тому +1

      If you want to simply test to see if the heater will start up runny jumper from the red to the white and your furnace should start the cycle on, if it does cycle on, there is something wrong with your thermostat wiring

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  16 днів тому +1

      My wires are connected as following: red to R, white to W, green to G and the blue is to the C

      @@DIYWISCO gotcha. Mine only has red and white. Thinking I need a different thermostat

      Your heater only has red and white or your thermostat only has those 2?

      Heater has c,w,g,r and thermostat has w and r. It runs when I tested it like you mentioned earlier.

    Love the video. My gargage is approximately 13x25 and has a large loft. What size do you recommend. I have heard 50k btu and 80k. It would be. I live in New York where winters are horrible but would like the option of working out in my garage and tinkering

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  Місяць тому +1

      The 13x25 should be great with the 50k, my garage is 25x25 and it takes it from 20 degrees to 45 is about 45 min to an hour with little to no insulation while it is 10 degrees outside, just did that this morning to workout 😊

      @ Thanks for the info…I am thinking of spray foaming my garage in the near future as all the wall are current open while I redo electric

    • @DIYWISCO

      I thought about that but the spray foam is crazy expensive

    Did you use regular B vent to run venting or did use that cat 3 stuff

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  Місяць тому

      I used regular b-vent the cat3 is almost more than the heater itself but cat3 is technically recommended for horizontal venting
      But a lot of people are still using it due to the cost

      What piece attached directly to the unit. The ones at Home Depot are the same size as the flue. I have a 90° type b but it will not go over the flue on the unit

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  Місяць тому +1

      @jtsarby I used this piece Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.
      www.homedepot.com/p/Selkirk-4-in-Steel-Male-Universal-Gas-Vent-Adapter-104081HD/300255816 I had to cut back the outer wall, just enough to get it to go over the flue pipe on the unit itself since the heaters exhaust vent doesn’t stick out very far.

      @@DIYWISCO hey man, I jjts got my heater up and running and I also used the typ B for horizontal vent..The cat 3 stuff is way too expensive. You think if I tape all the joints I should be good, technically that’s why cat 3 is required because of the gasket that come with the kits.. they make this stuff too expensive ..

    • @DIYWISCO
      @DIYWISCO  28 днів тому

      Areas it is took expensive, I have heard that the B vent can rust out on the inside so every couple years I am going to take it apart and inspect it to make sure everything is still 💯, you’ll be good to go

    The ribbed side of your power cord should almost always be the White/Neutral.
