Yes, please, another run. It helps me to hear what you are thinking so that I can understand how/why you are making your moves. Longer times would be appreciated but I am around for the fun.
This was good, thanks! However, I felt that (perhaps due to the 3min time limit), too many oponents were blundering (including yourself on a couple of occasions)! 😉 So, perhaps fewer 5 min games, but played with more precision and with deeper analysis would be more valuable than more 3 min games with less precision and superficial analysis. Hello! You are absolutely correct. Next one will be with a longer time control for sure 👍 Thanks a lot for your feedback and please, feel free to point out anything that can be improved. I am sure there are numerous mistakes. Especially in the first lessons 🤓
@@NMRobertRamirez Thanks Coach, longer time control games will certainly be appreciated! 🙏😊 Currently, I am slowly working my way trough the lessons, so if something else catches my eye, I'll be sure to chime in! Again, thanks for your effort and all the fantastic lessons so far! Also for the quick response! 🙏😊 Oh, and yes - 1500 - 2000 next speed run, pls Coach! 😊🙏
Loved it. Another speed run to 2000 would be great! I liked how you were showing other moves and options. I am terrible at 3 minute games but do a bit better at the 5 minute. But still learning.
Deze Roberto, please keep doing chess speldrun these tutorial videos are a huge help in improving my chess games. i also appreciate your explanations on every move;)
Ahh, yes. That Hippo-esque opening at the start tends to catch beginners like me off guard. 😂 A lot of computers also don't play well against it! Great video as always, Coach Robert!

Nice video for beginners and intermediate players coach. Actually i am waiting for advanced sessions, so couldnt enjoy like earlier videos. Kudos to your great effort coach.
Muy bien ensenado, gracias por explicar paso por paso. A. mi gusta jugar el Colle con blancas y el Pirc con negras, hoy a prendi una nueva linea en el Colle que no se avia visto antes.
Great vid! Really enjoy you talking through your thought process. It was especially insightful when you play an opening and your opponent goes off theory. Always have a hard time knowing what to do. Your opening series vids are helping with that too.
Hello Tony! Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your feedback. It is truly rewarding to read comments like yours 👍 Let me know if you ever have any questions.
Thanks for this excellent speedrun. Will there be further tutorials to develop your coverage of the Colle Zukertort variation? I have faced problems against an early Bg4 and king-side flank defenses e.g. KID, Grunfeld and the Dutch?
Hi Peter. I'm with you on the CZ. I rarely get to finish the rook lift plan but actually am having successful games nevertheless. I think lower rated players tend to play Bg4 a lot (like me 😊). I asked Robert about Bg4 and he shared this: ua-cam.com/video/HhjW_c7tgo8/v-deo.html which I did not remember seeing at the end of last lesson # 104. Thankfully he is patient and understanding with us. I really enjoy playing the CZ. Let me share this with you too which I have put many games from this on my LiChess Studies: ua-cam.com/video/xXPK6vUMJn0/v-deo.html It's fuzzy video but wow the info on CZ is awesome!
You are more than welcome! And yes, we will certainly talk more about the Colle. Next lesson, I am planning to do another speedup with longer time control where I use the Colle as white and KID as black 👍
Understand about getting a lot of games in but I am more interested in getting a lot of verbal instruction in. Enjoyed video - liked the response to the Kings Gambit. 👍 Birds opening looks like a little fun.
Hello Charles! I get your point 👍 For the next one should we do 5|5? The Bird's is certainly fun by the way. We just need to be familiar with the From's gambit lines 👍
Robert - one of the problems I have (and many others I am sure) is prioritising what to do on a move. Ok - so I have checked for blunders and checkmate. Now I have a lot of principles to consider … rooks to open files, pins skewers, passed pawns, isolated pawns, outposts, etc. I have problems knowing what is the most important consideration at any time. Could you do a video on priorities??
Hello Cameron! I just made a note and will find a way to reinforce this idea, but as you go through the lessons of this course in order, you will acquire a better understanding when it comes to planning and mini maneuvers 👍
Thank you Pablo! We will certainly have another speedrun. Maybe with longer time controls. I like your challenge by the way. We actually have a training exercise where a player start down material. That way, they have to focus on attacking if they want to win 👍
Wonderful video. Really useful to see all the openings in examples. If you go to 1550-2000 uyou might need to go to 3/2 to allow you go at a slower tempo and explain as you go along.
Thanks for the video! It was very instructive! I would personally like to see more with the kings Indian defense but maybe you will do that in the next speedrun!
This was one of the most entertaining and useful video on your channel it gave me a lot of insight of how to get better, Before I was trying to complicate things like only looking for tactics and over looking my hanging peices, Thank you for that (yes we would like a speedrun to 2000 rating)
I can't tell you how amazing and helpful this content is. I also cannot thank you enough. I do have two humble suggestions...do this kind if thing more...maybe once a month? And also, when you create a new account, play a handful of games before you get them on video. Win some, lose some. That way your score will even out and the first few games you win wont see your score jump 300+ points. Only a suggestion. Thank you again! I never miss your videos and I rewatch the most relevant ones while I run each night on my treadmill!
Please keep talking, my reason for watching this sort of content is to get an insight into your thoughts. Plus I agree that a longer time control may be better, especially as you climb the ratings ladder.
Loved it when you are right about the question I often ask "how come no one blunders like that against me?" and then you say "thats because you are the one blundering first!". 🤣
We love speedruns, so yeah keep it up! Also, just an idea, it would be funny to see you playing Arena Kings or some tournament, we love to see a master playing chess! Thanks for all you efforts, this channel is gold!
I always enjoy watching you play, thank you. I might be alone on this, but I would enjoy watching rapid games against tougher competition. The 3 minute games are entertaining and informative, but the time pressure results in sloppy play that is not especially instructive. I don't mind listening to you think out loud. In fact, that is my favorite part. Maybe a 5+5 against tougher competition would be a good balance.
Totally agree. 5 minute games on a speedrun I think are ideal...set time limit, long enough to think and explain the moves. I think another speedrun from 1500 to 2000+ would be amazing! I think 3 min games from 800 to 1300, then 5 min games from 1300 to 2000. This is the way. ♟️
Thanks for the video and especially for sharing your thought process while you played - you make chess look easy :) It was nice to see, that at this level really blunders are most critical and a deep opening knowledge is not yet that important. Would be great to see another speedrun, either on 1500-2000 or also at the same level again
the screen shots of the exact lesson you're using is so cool. more great content, robert! sincerely, bad_chess_student (work's been crazy but i can't wait to meet again!)
Like the speed run! Would prefer a 5 min so that you’d have time to share your thoughts. It was really instructive to see you blunder - seriously. I feel like I learned from your mistakes!! Keep it up!
Absolutely Mike! We learn a lot from reviewing our own games as well as someone else's. Every mistake is a learning opportunity 👍 And by the way, next one will be with 5|5 games 😎
A speedrun series would be great! Would also love to see an openings video for the bird, and a colle part 2 covering these positions with c4 when Ne5 is not possible
Very nice indeed thank you, I would like to see you decide if you will play the, pirc, Cz pirc, kings indian attack, kings indian defence ie the modern systems depending on the moves your opponent plays. Love the speedrun
@@NMRobertRamirez I heard you trying to make that work & I didn't see why it wouldn't but I neglected to see they were attacking your Night. Thank you for answering my low rated chess brain question with respect. Appreciate you!
A bit of a longer time control would be great (as mentioned by many others)... Also, I would love to see more games in the KID, and Pirc Defense, especially at a higher rating level with longer timecontrols as those games would be seriously instructive IMO.
Hello and Thank You Again Robert! This presentation was both fascinating & interesting. My Siblings and I skipped some priorities tonight due to our attention being glued from one game to the next; such a grand presentation Sir. Please seriously consider the following Important comment. We find the speed at which your playing to be counter productive to the lessons and importantly, even the most basic ideas retention. We realize faster time controls allow for more games played in a given video segment but that speed is a pace consistently proven to be very detrimental to much better gains in cognitional process! Slower play speed with commentary, far outweigh all benefit from a larger # of games played. Much more would definitely be gained from these excellent presentations if you will please slow down the pace a bit. Thank you so much for considering this very important issue. We Absolutely Love your Style and have found little interest in other content creators because of it. Your work here is unique in its generosity, and so Greatly Appreciated. With Much Respect, Mike & Family. :)
Hello Mike! Thanks a lot for your feedback. It is greatly appreciate it and you are right. Next lesson will be with 5|5 games and I can see how it is way better. Again, thank you! 👍
Great session. A longer time control would provide the opportunity to expand your thoughts at times. OR record games in advance and replay at modest speed or stop to allow your WONDERFUL comments/explanations. You make it look easy which is the sign of a master. Thank you, my games have improved.
Thanks Robert. Yes i would like to see a 1500 to 2200 speed run. The first games was the Hippo or white the reversed Hippo. A question about the Colle Zukertort when black fianchetto's. Do you still recommend Bd3 or is Be2 better. Bd3 the bishop is pointed against a strong point.
You are welcome Carl 👍 Regarding the Hippo, I am not sure if it includes h6 and a6 too 🤔 When playing the Colle set-up vs the Fianchetto, I recommend Be2 instead due to the same trick we learn ed in lesson # 87 (KID vs London) of e5 with a tempo followed by e4 forking the d3 bishop and f3 knight 👍
Oh yes thanks. Was in two minds Bd3 or Be2. Got a book Robert, Play the Hippo Attack and Defense. Eric Briffoz. The double fianchetto is the cornerstone of it. Very flexible i find. Games by Kasparov, Nakamura, Spassky, Kamsky, etc etc in the book.
@@carlbinch898 come on. You cannot just say you go a book on it 😅 You gotta share the name. I remember playing against this opening once and it was really uncomfortable.
Play the Hippo Attack and Defense , Eric Briffoz. Is the book Robert. Some of the games are from another planet. e.g one line Qa1, Bb2 battery hee hee. The example games are master level. At least expert.
Great content here. You have a very good way of explaining simple concepts in a manner that makes them easy to understand and so that they will stick. Please do another speedrun, but make it against higher rated opponents (like 1500+). Playing against sub-1500 opponents, the viewers don't really get to see the concepts of the various openings in action. The opponents blunder too much and so you don't get a chance to teach the real points.
Hi Robert, I have been playing the London system lately and it has been serving me well, however I’m wondering what to do when my opponent plays E5 challenging my D4 pawn and making it so I can’t put my bishop on C4. I have been just pushing up my E3 pawn to protect, but that cages in my dark squared bishop. Should I just abandon the London altogether and go for a Queen’s gambit when this happens?
Hello! Let's talk about this... This 1...,e5 is pretty popular among people who are looking for a quick opening trap to win the game. It is called the Englund gambit I think. Truth is that if you avoid the little traps, you will obtain a superior position. I would recommend one of this two options: 1) 1.d4, e5 2.dxe5, Nc6 3.Nf3, Qe7 (now they want you to play 4.Bf4 so that they can do Qb4+) Instead, continue with 4. Nc3, Nxe5 5.e4 and you are better here. If 5..., Nxf3+ then 6. Qxf3 👍 2) 1.d4, e5 2.dxe5, Nc6 3.Nf3, Qe7 (now they want you to play 4.Bf4 so that they can do Qb4+) Instead, continue with 4. c3, which is a move we do in the London anyways. And after they do 4..., Nxe5, you can play 5.Bf4 like in the London. Let me know if you like any of them 👍
hmn - stupid question does black have a benefit - play pirc instead of modern? i mean - sure - its after 3-4 moves - many times like the same but dont play nf6 early is a bit more flexible - no target if white goes austrian attack and the opportunity to delay it - so white cant just easy Qd2 / Be3 battery and force a trade in many lines - wich result in a KID - it seems like a improved version of the KID - since u can play Ne7 - so u safe a tempo
Hello! I I think it is a mater of taste. One thing the Pirc has is the Nf6 move, which immediately puts pressure on e4 making White take care of it. That way, they do not have so much flexibility as when playing vs the Modern. With that said, I think the flexibility of the Modern Defense player when compared to Pirc is great too. So, to answer your question, I don't think there is a huge benefit that makes Pirc superior to the Modern 👍
Please start a series on live longer time control games against 1400+. There the chance to blunder is less for the opponent. Great lesson btw I was scared in the later half (KID and bird ) 😱 putting myself in opponents place and seeing chess like this.
@@NMRobertRamirez yup definitely. Some 10 m ones are also good 👍 , that thought process you are speaking is too good and also easy to grasp and apply in my own games.
@@NMRobertRamirez and sometimes nowadays I am seeing threat that are not even possible.... Missing simple pawn captures at the end of some calculations, Which brought me back to the mid 1300s 😖
I was expecting it, I didn't think you would post it today thank you very much !! At 26:38 could you have played Re8 pinning the e3 pawn then do Nd4 forking the Queen?
That's what I wanted, but my knight was being attacked by their b5 pawn 😎
@@NMRobertRamirez I heard you trying to make that work & I didn't see why it wouldn't but I neglected to see they were attacking your Night. Thank you for answering my low rated chess brain question with respect. Appreciate you!
Great content ❤
Thank you!
Thanks, your videos are useful, but please could you proceed with an opening like Sicilian defence and its variation.
You are welcome, Kevin! And yes, next time we learn a new opening will be the Sicilian defense 👍
Yes sir I would like an another speedrun. But anyways every lesson you make is interesting 👍👍👍
🙌💪😎
Speedrun looks very helpful i think especially if it s about same opening
Yes, you are correct. Next one, I will try to play longer time controls and probably make it mainly about the Colle 👍
Si senor fantastic muchas gracias
Cool. Please, make another speedrun
Absolutely! Feel free to check out lesson # 106 👍
A bit of a longer time control would be great (as mentioned by many others)...
Also, I would love to see more games in the KID, and Pirc Defense, especially at a higher rating level with longer timecontrols as those games would be seriously instructive IMO.
You got it! Next one will be with more time (looks like 5|5) and I am planning to play mainly Colle as white and KID/Pirc as Black 👍
@@NMRobertRamirez Perfect! thanks a bunch
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Next lesson, we will have another one with a longer time to control 👍
Yes, please !
You are welcome Carl 👍 Regarding the Hippo, I am not sure if it includes h6 and a6 too 🤔
When playing the Colle set-up vs the Fianchetto, I recommend Be2 instead due to the same trick we learn ed in lesson # 87 (KID vs London) of e5 with a tempo followed by e4 forking the d3 bishop and f3 knight 👍
At least expert.
thank you coach
You are more than welcome! 👍😎
@@NMRobertRamirez coach, bird opening looks very interesting ;) have you any thought about to teach us on this opening? :D
@@rejuantamim6939 yes, indeed! It is certainly coming 😎
Go please for another Speedrun insisting on Colle Zuketort system with witch I have had some problems as Pete did. Thank you 👍🇨🇵
You got it! I am planning to play mostly Colle as white and KID/Pirc as Black. Probably with a longer time control too 👍
That was really nice
can you teach vienna gambit?
Yesss we love speedrun so
💪😎
Great content here. You have a very good way of explaining simple concepts in a manner that makes them easy to understand and so that they will stick. Please do another speedrun, but make it against higher rated opponents (like 1500+). Playing against sub-1500 opponents, the viewers don't really get to see the concepts of the various openings in action. The opponents blunder too much and so you don't get a chance to teach the real points.
You got it, Chris! Hope you enjoy lesson 106 where I used a longer time control 👍 ua-cam.com/video/YYGdGt5ackA/v-deo.html
Keep doing speed run and also games with more time, please 🙏
You got it! Next one will be with more time for sure! 👍
Hi Robert,
It could also be a good Idea to make a series with 10+0.
Yes! Someone else suggested it and I like the idea of having some lessons with 10 minute games 👍Thank you!
I would recommend one of this two options:
1) 1.d4, e5 2.dxe5, Nc6 3.Nf3, Qe7 (now they want you to play 4.Bf4 so that they can do Qb4+) Instead, continue with 4. Nc3, Nxe5 5.e4 and you are better here. If 5..., Nxf3+ then 6. Qxf3 👍
2) 1.d4, e5 2.dxe5, Nc6 3.Nf3, Qe7 (now they want you to play 4.Bf4 so that they can do Qb4+) Instead, continue with 4. c3, which is a move we do in the London anyways. And after they do 4..., Nxe5, you can play 5.Bf4 like in the London.
Let me know if you like any of them 👍
hmn - stupid question
does black have a benefit - play pirc instead of modern?
i mean - sure - its after 3-4 moves - many times like the same
but dont play nf6 early is a bit more flexible - no target if white goes austrian attack and
the opportunity to delay it - so white cant just easy Qd2 / Be3 battery and force a trade
in many lines - wich result in a KID - it seems like a improved version of the KID - since u can play Ne7 - so u safe a tempo
Yes please! I would love to watch you climb to 2000.
It's funny to me jow your opponents blunder moves so easily against you. xD
You got it Angelo! Next one will be 5|5 👍
@@NMRobertRamirez Longer time control for better quality of moves with commentary? That wpuld be great. Thank you. 👍😁
Its amazing
Sir! Plz do catalan opening ...
We are getting closer to that lesson! The Sicilian is first in the list, but the Catalan is certainly coming 💪😎
@@NMRobertRamirez ok sir
Hi, you have a typo in the notes. It should be Czech Pirc, not check. I am Czech, that is why I noticed it :D
Ahh you are absolutely correct! Thank you for bring it up 🙌 I just fixed it 👍
Please start a series on live longer time control games against 1400+. There the chance to blunder is less for the opponent.
Great lesson btw I was scared in the later half (KID and bird ) 😱 putting myself in opponents place and seeing chess like this.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I want to do a 1500 to 2000 speed run next time. Do you think 5|5 is good?
@@NMRobertRamirez yup definitely. Some 10 m ones are also good 👍 , that thought process you are speaking is too good and also easy to grasp and apply in my own games.
@@NMRobertRamirez and sometimes nowadays I am seeing threat that are not even possible.... Missing simple pawn captures at the end of some calculations,
Which brought me back to the mid 1300s 😖
@@growwithsomangshu1463 setbacks like this one are common. You will back up in no time 💪
I was expecting it, I didn't think you would post it today thank you very much !! I will study it tonight and I will tell you if I have any questions, but really it's cool !!!!! thank you so much, i think it will be fun and funny with the birds too hehehe see you tonight if i have any questions or otherwise i will post a feedback but i think i will love heheh :)
You got it! The last two are with the Bird's Opening. I wish they had been better quality games, but it is something 👍
What program do you use in these lessons?
Hello! You can find the link in the description of the video 👍
Was the 1st opening the hippo? Anyway great content.
Not really, but kind of 🤓
Ah. When I was like 500 I played what you did with knights on 2nd rank and Fien get to both bishops and I always called that the hippo
Did you cover the bird opening in another video?
Not yet, but we will 👍😎
Sir, would you kindly tell me the name of opening for white and black, where i should spent my valuable time as a beginner and it will be very helpful for increasing rating? and also will you provide us a video talking about avoiding so much blunders with less steps?i watch your video, you are making great contents, don't stop we are with you❤❤❤😊🙃
Hello! Ideally you would go over the different opening and pick the one you like better. Now, if you leave it up to me, I would have you start with the one from lesson # 34 as white and lesson # 51 as black. Then you continue to add more as you move up the ladder and as you continue to go through this course in order 👍
@@NMRobertRamirez thank you, sir
Yes please , and thank you ^^
