In time I became very fond of this theme. Because, I feel, of all musical themes of Men in both trilogys, this is the most "human". It isn't grand and proudful, like theme of Minas Tirith, and neither it heroic and valiant like theme of Rohan. There is greed, corruption and poverty in it, but also simple beauty, kindness and homely comfort, there are moments of true courage and strength. The Laketown theme is a theme of every homecity, loved by it's inhabitants, despite all odds...
Especially after Rings of power. Seeing that made me really glad that Hobbit turned out like it did. Yeah it’s not perfect, but still infinitely better than anything we will ever get from this universe again.
The lord of silver fountains, the king of carven stone, shall come into his own, and bells shall ring in gladness at the mountain kings return, but all shall fail in sadness as the lake shines and burns
@Rincon Ovalle Luis Fernando A sad prophecy, but luckily it was fulfilled. The crucial Battle of Dale during the War or the Ring would have never taken in place if the Erebor wasn't reclaimed by the dwarves.
as someone who enjoys ragtag Militias, I loved the Laketown Militia in the Battle of the Five Armies, it proves that an army can't always be cool with things such as being destined by god or soldiers deemed immortal but an army made up of the common-folk fighting because they have to

Hobbit had so many haters until RoP showed up. When i watch Rings of Power, i understand that Hobbit was awesome as much as Lotr. I liked it when i watch it in theater, but i like it even more. Thanks to PJ and Howard Shore for great movies and soundtracks!
The hobbit isnt perfect by any means but it had a lot of ambition and even more potential. The producers F’d PJ whole heartedly with this and rushed it to high hell.
Epic, Ambient Worlds led me to it, now I'm in love! Thx, i gotta watch LOTR and Hobbit sometimes (never watched them, thought its too much fantasy for me, but i recently watched Harry Potter for the first time, maybe LOTR is next...)
This and the one song from the 5th harry potter movie at the beginning when mad eye and tonks and all them were picking Harry up, are both my favorite movie music!
now that's a hot take. I do enjoy the smaug scenes in this trilogy more than the majority of the lord of the rings though. But I still think lord of the rings is better.

The town reminds me of Riften
I actually added Thrice Welcome to Skyrim so when I go to Riften there's a chance of hearing the Laketown theme.
Both are dirty, filled with corruption, poor cities close to the water
Erebor also reminds me of Markarth.
