The number of subs a channel has is irrelevant, it's *views* that count. You can have a million subscribers, but if you're only getting a thousand views per video... And the reverse is true also- this channel has less than 100k subs, but some of the videos have 900k+ views. The algorithm doesn't care how big your channel is, it only cares how much interaction it has- that's why liking and commenting on the videos is more important than your subscription count. 👍 🍄
@the_unrepentant_anarchist. Correct sir! It's all just a dick swinging contest for some of these UA-camrs, but content and views per video is the only important factor
Hey Damon! One of the issues you may struggle with in your images is the walking noise on top of the vibrations. If you get the chance, I would buy an intervalometer/remote shutter (they're very cheap) that will help stop the vibrations and you wouldn't need to stand there and take every image. On top of that, every 10 minutes or so, I would gently move the scope in random directions between exposures, this will help in stacking the exposures as you won't have to deal with "walking noise" (it's much more apparent in your horsehead image) which is caused by the background noise in your camera stacking along the errors in your tracker (even the best mounts suffer from this). It's a very easy fix, and I really wish I knew about it sooner. Amazing images btw!
I love your unbridled enthusiasm! You remind me of when i got "into" the hobby 7 years ago. -10° wind chill?? Doesn't matter! Jupiter's up and theres a shadow transit. 😊
Hey, so trick for getting rid of the shake. Setup the timer for 3 or 10 seconds. Ultimately, buy a handheld shutter release but I did tons of nighttime stuff without one and id just setup the timer. Press shutter, by the time it goes off, it's done shaking.
I just bought this telescope about an hour ago, along with the associated flattener/reducer. Will arrive Thursday. Hoping for the best. Thanks for your review. Just subscribed. 🙂
Nice scopes. I have the 80MM/F6 SV503 and it's is a nice instrument. It's very solidly built and I love the rotating focus mount and silky-smooth dual-ratio RAP focuser.
-6 is cold!I camped out near Otterburn in the Northumberland National Park in February and it got down to a brutal -8 which must be the coldest i have camped out it.But wonderful views of the stars although I did have a 3/4 Moon.
great video, well done. i am wonder the adaptor you got connect to the camera to scope, whaT IS THE MODEL, I GOT A CANON CAMERA DSLR, thank you. keep up the good work
There are two major telescope companies not counting small ones like Tele Vue, Stellarvue, iOptron and Astronomics. Synta has Celestron and Skywatcher and Optronics Technologies=Orion and Meade and some small companies are owned by them too like Zhumell is Celestron owned. Coronado solar scopes are Orion or Meade, I forget which is which. Oh and there is GSO in Taiwan who makes some decent mid quality stuff too. So overall I'd say there is some decent competition out there, not to mention Takahashi and Starbase in Japan/Taiwan. SVbony is in the mid quality range for much of their stuff as well. It is mostly all made in China and with the political situation there get what you can while you can in case they go invading places.
When doing shots like this, does the telescope/camera have to track the object in the sky? Surely it must. Does the telescope do that on its own with a setting?
I never got any of that stuff with my scope (off amazon) and paid £500 ! A decent scope though, but I will say if you buy on amazon, the customer service is absolutely awful. The problem is they are in China and only answer in the middle of the night 🌙 AND don't really understand English. You've been warned ⚠️ - that being said I still think the actual scope is of high quality.
Quite a lot of walking noise Damon, ot might be time to acquire an asiair or other system like Nina and dither each secpnd or third frame, Also a semi remote imager like the asiair will allow you stay indoors!!!!
Well spotted! Was trying my best not to influence the capabilities of this telescope by adding too many accessories. I feel you can mislead your audience a bit if you do that. I did however, recently purchase an ASIAIR and a new guide scope, which as you've just said, will mean I can stay nice and warm indoors this Winter! 😁😅
Might be a dumb question but is this a astrophotography only telescope? I just wanna go outside and see the night sky without having anything to do with dslr camera or photo imaging.
Superb. Very bright and clean. I have, among others, a Revelation 2” 40mm eyepiece and the moon, for example, with the 0.8 flattener, is bright and crisp hanging there in a wide field view of space.
i get the feeling you're going to have millions of subs one day
Agreed

Hi, Josh.
Thank you for this comment, it was really helpful. Plenty to consider for next time, now that it's not freezing 😅👍🏻
I have the same scope and the 80mm and I love both of them especially with the reducer/flattener. I get quite decent images.

Pfft, It'd take a lot more than -10' wind chill to stop us seeing a Jupiter shadow transit! 😎👍

Nice Review! 380$ price Seems Pretty Decent for A Refractor that Has Little to no fringing! On my list!

1:40 use the timer on the camera to wait out the shake.
Hi Damon, keep up with these reviews! What website would you recommend for finding the positions of stars/ other bodies in the night sky?
Nice, i hope i get picked for some testing at some point as well. The new products sure looks interesting :D
Nice review on this 70mm.
This looks a bit like a Williams Optics clone - how would you rate it against those?
When doing shots like this, does the telescope/camera have to track the object in the sky? Surely it must. Does the telescope do that on its own with a setting?
hello Damon!! Does the mount work well with that telescope? I ask you about the weight of the svbony...thank you
New viewer here, loving the content!
Hello brother, what is the svbony sv 28 model 25-75x70 telescope, can you recommend it? How is it at long distances such as 20-25 km?
Man I never noticed ur subs they are too low according to ur great work
Hi Damon, can you tell me about good telescopes from €100 up?
Hadley 114
do they only appear on cameras? are these celestial objects viewable with your eye using the telescope?
this videos are really good keep going❤

Beautiful scope.
Hey Damon i have a question, is it better to get an uhc filter and an oiii one to see galaxies and nebulae or to just get an optolong l pro?
Hello ,
Can u tell me which Stativ you use ?
What's the best telescope you'd recommend?
is your camera unfiltred

Hi is there any live stacking software
Is this a good telescope for beginners with no experience?

Hi . How does it perform viewing through with an eyepiece.

How many lon exposures did you make for the final image of andromeda?
I have an idea for you why you don’t try to astrography with mobile phone ?
