- Ukrainian forces have liberated a key village in the southern region of Kherson, forcing another Russian military retreat.
The defence ministry in Kyiv posted a video showing troops raising a Ukrainian flag above Davydiv Brid, amid reports of several other nearby villages being recaptured.
Russian forces have already been forced to retreat in Ukraine's north-east. They are now being pushed back in the south as well.

Their absolute pride, intelligence, bravery, and grit is awesome to see in the news and it has been a true "David versus Goliath" story that is inspiring the world! GO UKRAINE! Both sides will feel the effect. Neither are superhuman.
It will be down to equipment and maintenance.
Russian equipment is poorly maintained and most of their troops haven't spent 8 years on the Donbas front. Ukraine learned a lot from that trench warfare.
mobile vehicle warfare will crawl to a halt until such a point that the ground can freeze and harden, which is not a 100% chance- one of the reasons the initial push into ukraine did so poorly for tanks and other vehicles was because of a particularly warm winter where the ground never fully froze, remaining a muddy and wet mess, meaning that tanks, armored vehicles, and heavy trucks had severe difficulty traversing the muddy swamps that spring up in ukraine (typically during fall and spring, though sometimes during winter)

The legendary mud of late autumn early winter makes anything but roads practically impassable for vehicles, giving and advantage to defenders since they don't have to move as much and they know the only feasible route for heavy weapons. Winter is almost easier since the ground becomes frozen, but conditions become appalling for troops, just keeping them in the line becomes a challenge and digging in becomes a serious problem without heavy machinery. Potentially the Russians could use winter to slow the pace, consolidate and bring their battered units up to strength. On the other hand lousy logistics, poor equipment, inexperienced troops, inadequate fuel and clothing could be catastrophic, particularly in an exhausted army with low morale. Reports of the new conscripts having to buy their own equipment does not bode well if Ukraine can manage to keep up the pressure. This is one of the reasons that Ukraine is being almost reckless in the speed and commitment of their advance, and one reason why the Russians want to outrun them since the ability to form a defensive line and hunker down for the winter is more important than holding territory at this point.

Ukraine needs to take it all back. Surrendering territory to Russia would only delay the inevitable, which is Russia closing in on Europe. Such outcomes need to be prevented. Both parties failed at making a deal, therefore the only way out of this is by beating Russia.
