    You say "the zip code you live in". What if you have plans to move but aren't sure where that will be? What affect, if any, does moving outside your original zip code /city/state have on your selected medigap plan?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому

      Your Medigap plan will move with you whenever you move. However, you will want to update your address which means your monthly premium could change since you'll have a new zip code. It's possible it could decrease, increase, or stay the same. If it does increase, you can shop your rate but you may need to go through medical underwriting to apply.

    What happens if you enroll correctly at your one time chance but then move to the other side of the state after the initial window has closed. Can you keep the same coverage or do you have to start over and go thru the underwriting process?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому

      Whenever you move, your Medigap plan will move with you. You can update your address and it's possible your premium will change. If it increases because of your new zip code, you can shop your rate and apply for a different carrier, but you may need to go through underwriting.

    Are you saying you can't apply for Medigap until your part B is in effect? Wouldn't this cause a gap period where you have medicare but no medigap?

      Hi there - you need to have your Medicare number to apply for a Medigap.

    What if I have Medicare Part A and Part B and employer coverage for more than 6 months? I understand I am outside of the Open Enrollment window but does that mean when I lose employer coverage I will need to answer health questions? Thanks!

      Great question! As long as your employer has more than 20 employees, you will have a Guaranteed Issue period to enroll in a Medigap plan with no health questions asked. You can read more about it here - boomerbenefits.com/medicare-supplement-guaranteed-issue/

    I am covered by my spouse's medical plan, if my spouse cancels my coverage can I apply for the medicap coverage without going through the medical questioning? Thank you.

      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому

      Hi Tony - Yes - if you are over 65, as long as her employer has over 20 employees, you can drop that coverage and enroll in Medicare without answering health questions.
      If you are turning 65, you can apply during your initial election period without underwriting!

    If I switch from an advantage plan to a Medicare with a medigap plan, can I pick up a supplemental prescription plan as well?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому

      Yes, you can drop your Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare and add a Part D plan. However, depending on the situation, you may need to answer health questions to enroll in a Medigap plan. This means you could be denied the Medigap plan depending on your health conditions. Additionally, you can only make this change during specific times of the year. If you have any questions, feel free to give our team a call at 817-249-8600 and they can help evaluate the situation!

    Great video! Isn't there another exception which is either you or a spouse turns 65 and one of them has medical coverage under a qualified plan? Then once that plan goes away isn't there an open enrollment period as well?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому +1

      Hi Vinny - you are correct! As long as you or your spouse are covered by a large employer (more than 20 employees) you can push your Part B effective date until you leave that coverage!

    If we sign up for a Medigap plan during these 6 months will it start at the same time when we sign up for regular Medicare?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому

      Hi there - you can start this plan at any time during your 6 month open period. Most of our clients do choose to start this on the day their Part B coverage starts.

    If you take early retirement at 62 without a disability can you still qualify for Plan G without health questions at 65. Love your videos! Thanks!

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits  Рік тому +1

      Hi Joyce! So glad you enjoy the videos. :) Yes, you can take Social Security benefits at 62 and that won't affect your Medicare choices.
      Once you turn 65, you can enroll in Medicare, and once you have Part B, you will have 6 months to choose a Supplement Plan, such as Plan G, with no health questions asked.
