In this video I'm going to show you how to fade your hair but not to your skin, with the shortest length of 3mm
All you need in this tutorial are an hairclipper with an adjustable lever, and the following three comb guards (#3, #2, and #1).
1. The very first step requires evening out the hair across your head. This is very useful when it comes to fading in the later steps
because otherwise, the guideline you are creating in the later steps will not be consistent. Use #3 guard lever all the
way open and go all over yourhead. If you don't know what lever all the way open means, then there is what you should exactly do at the left
bottom corner.
2. Next step is going to creating an initial guideline. Usually, I use a trimmer to create an initial guideline when I give myself a skin fade
but this time I am starting off with #1 guard lever all the way closed because this is the shortest length I want to have for my haircut
One tip is to make your first guideline as consistent and straight as possible so that later it is easier to erase this line.
3. After you are done with this step, we are now going to get the #2 guard and the pull the lever all the way open to create my second guideline
it is difficult to see in the video where exactly my second guideline appeared, but be consistent and go above your initial guideline
and you should be somehow able to see the layer forming above the initial guideline.
4. By closing the lever all the way with #2 guard, I am tilting my hair clipper and taking off the line form between #3 and #2 guard. In
other words, I am using the corner of blade to knock out that visible line.
5. In the same manner, but with #1 Guard lever all the way open, I am knocking out the line between #1 closed and #2 open. See how I am using
the corner of my blade and not trying to leave a harsh guideline knockout spot on my hair.

Used this tutorial to fade my four year old son’s hair. My first attempt and it was a success. Thank you 🙏
That’s a great effort for a self-fade using mirrors, it’s not easy, well done.

Thanks for this helpful tutorial. I have just a question as I didn't manage to see it on the video. When you use the n.3 guard open, do you go up and into the curvature of the head up to the part line?
Love the tutorial but was thinking about it and wouldn’t it make more sense to knock out the guideline between 3 open and 2 open with 3 closed instead of 2 closed?
I knew i wasnt trippin
Yeah lol he did the complete opposite 😂😂
Hello. Whay you use nr 2 close between nr 2 and nr3?

@@tmsgaming69 Damn that's so awesome to hear man. I am working on expanding my channel atm. More people need this!
When you say closed is that the lever push back or forward?
Lever closed is up
I’m new to barbering, say I didn’t want to use the corners of my blade, could I use a 1.5 open lever and flick out the line or a 2.5 closed and flick it out as well? This is all so confusing. Thank you for the tutorial!
You always have to use corners when taking out a line if not your going to end up doing another one or go to high if it doesn’t want to take off play with the lever
U can use a 1.5 opened to take out the 1-2 line
Do I tell my barber low, mid, high or just number 1 fade for this
yea you shall tell him but anyways he will ask you
can you do a self mid fade vid
Yes is coming this week!
Couldn't he blend the line he made with number 2 by using one and a half open an close
Occipital bone lol
