- China has changed massively since 1978. And yet it remains recognisably China. In 20 years’ time it will again be profoundly different from what it is now. Yet it will still be recognisably China. In this talk in Guangzhou, Martin Jacques asks what is the secret to China’s extraordinary continuity.
Prof Jacques, your voice of reason must be heard widely in order to stop the warmongers. Peace and cooperation is our only option for survival of us all
Lovely to see you back, Prof Jacques.
Haven't watched you in a few years.!!!! I remember one of your talks where you finished off demonstrating how the chinese practically invented golf😂. You changed my perception on china age's ago. Nice to see your still giving talks Martin. 👍
the US preoccupation of China is... the Chinese is doing all things right 🥰 compare with US fumbling Joe Biden !? ?!
The next China will be hard to recognize, because they are innovating, promoting competence, with the people deeply involved and deeply pleased at their progress. It would be wise of the United States and others to pay attention with respect and open ears.
Oh boy wait till you see what china looks like after challenging the United States.
Absolutely brilliant analysis!
Thanks Prof Jacques, for give to us a hope in this dangerous world time !!
Hope?🤣

Huge Price Cuts Rumored From Chinese Developers Due To Collapsing Demand
Vincent Fernando, CFA May 29, 2010
Demand is falling since China's central government announced stricter regulations for property transactions during the middle of April. These involve higher down payments and mortgage rates for the purchase of second home, and act which is seen as potential speculation. Such tightening is reducing buying demand.
Thus a moderately bearish view is that property prices need to come down, since demand is likely down yet supply is the same. This challenge isn't limited to Shanghai:
China Vanke Co, the country's largest publicly listed developer, may cut apartment prices by 10 to 30 percent within three months, the Beijing News said yesterday, citing an unidentified sales agent. Local Vanke officials declined to comment yesterday.
Yet Shanghai is where things could get the ugliest, the earliest. This is because the local Shanghai government is planning to clamp down on speculation even harder than China's central government already has:
Chen Qiwei, a spokesman for the Shanghai municipal government, did not preclude the possibility of levying property tax when asked about this issue at a press conference on Friday.
"Shanghai will take more strict measures in line with the central government policy," Chen said, adding that more efforts will be made in building economically affordable houses and cracking down on speculative house purchasing.
Other cities such as Beijing, Chongqing, and Shenzen could have similar additional taxes, but Shanghai is the first to make an official comment such as above according to China Daily. Thing is, any action from Shanghai will likely need approval from the central government.

In England, Professor Martin Jacques would be attacked by the hardline media, accusing Jacques of being a puppet of Beijing
Fantastic listen, thank you 👏
Thank you again Prof Jacques for your continuous confidence in China’s positive development. Your observations and understanding of China as a civilization is crucial! China’s dna has longed been shaped by its civilization of tragedies, dynastic power struggles, survival, hard work, inventiveness, pragmatism, philosophical influences, literature /cultural /traditions of humanness! China has had a very long history.
China’s psyche is a deep one, an intelligent one and reflective one! Its taken me many years to try to understand why i can’t shake off China despite the fact i have lived in the west for at least 50 years! Modern communist/ socialist China has made me proud as a descendant of the Yellow Emperor, of the dragon, of the Tao . The determination of the revolutionary heros to stand up for its people and to succeed in mastering sovereignty is incredibly remarkable. The lessons of the past are hard learned ones! China is now embarking on forwardness in green traditions ! Prof Jacques is right, China will always be China!
China is a behemoth that is moving at gathering speed after a long pause of a century or more. It has a momentum of its own that nothing can stop or prevent its movement or trajectory give or take a few degrees or some changes in its speed. Eventually after about 300 years it may come to a halt again due to various factors, internal and external. In the meantime until then, China will continue to move forward and bring the whole world along with it on the road to a better future for all.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very much looking forward to your new book on China. Hope it’s coming out soon!
Most westerners can't fathom this concept. Westerners never bother to study history, much less those of the rest of the non western countries. It's a tragedy.
It's not only that they don't bother to. They don't WANT to. They're happy to continue believing that the West is still the top of the world. It makes they feel good to live in that fantasy. That is why they feel OFFENDED when you tell them the good that China has done.
Challenging the United States is a tragedy.
They are not interested in history. They are interested in LGBT, gender fluid, BLM and many other nonsense.
@TacticalMayo
Nah, US is not worth challenging. You can not challenge an entity that keeps printing money without any productive productivity. 🎉
@@cb250nighthawk3 what are you talking about the US runs the financial system of the entire world.
Ofcouse China will be a New China forsure ok.
Not just that only also will be keep continue grow better and better too 👍
"Of course" you say? There are a hundred videos (and books and magazine articles) saying the end has come for China, for one like this. Go in a big book store, and you can find a hundred books on this topic! Then you see a VIDEO and it's so tremendous and bustling and infrastructure-y!!!
That’s because China does not play ball with the west so they are the bad guys/ boogeyman
I can easily show you how brainwashed we are in the West
MSM will tell you China is crashing with its current “debt load”
But that Chinese debt is mostly Internal debt
Where they have little external sovereign debt
2.3 trillion, which they can pay off with just their FX reserves alone
And hide the rest of their internal debt
But notice how when they do the China debt vs US debt comparisons
They will lump all the Chinese debt in together
But they will take great pains to a separate the US 34 trillion in external sovereign debt
And leave out the US internal debt, where most of that debt they can sweep under the table just like China has done
If they were to include US internal debt with that 34 trillion US external sovereign debt figure
The USA would have, 566 trillion US debt in total
As you would have to include
3 trillion in Local and State debt
Non Financial Corporate debt 11 trillion
Personal/Household debt of 17.5 trillion
Corporate debt securities 23 trillion
SS liability 26 trillion
Medicare Liability 40 trillion
TooBigTooFail Investment banks
Derivatives Bets (notational value) 200 trillion
Unfunded Liabilities 212 trillion
Lol no 🤣

Yes, many "experts" can see the end of China. Yet yellen and blinken aren't listening to these "experts", eagerly queueing up to go BEGGING from China. These disobedient officers must be cast aside from the high office.
Dr.Jacques Eagerly awaiting your new book. When is the release date
Mr. Martin Jacques, how are you and how is the condition of the English economy? Why does England not want to have close relations with China but instead obeys the US
What a great speech amazing, thank you.
Miss ya! 😁
There's a saying in China that declares t"he world is for everyone ".
It has now been expanded to: "the cosmos is for one and all."
Vs yankee "this world is mine" via their Monroe doctrine and then the wolfowitz doctrine
So good to hear from Martin Jaques again. I have followed all his lectures and have at home his book, When China Rules the World. Absolutely brilliant.

Summary: The modernization of China will put that “sliver “ of humanity back into proper perspective. China’s civilization form of governance will spread across Asia, Middle East, and Africa. The region will live in peace, progress , and prosperity while the West reminiscent the golden yesteryear of colonialism.

Yes, your analysis is right professor. Thanks
Great insight and analysis👍👍👍
People haven’t woken up to the fact that, now with the prototype of the quantum computer, going fwd, China may leapfrog many times over it’s competitors especially the US, militarily, technologically and scientifically. Imagine…able to calculate and get an answer within seconds for a fusion space engine instead of years using today’s super computers.
LOL 🤣 no.

Perhaps in 20 years, China will be like Shambhala. The places in China especially their ancient cities are like those of that mythical city. It is also worth noting that China's Shangri-La is another name for Shambhala.
China will build new cities on Mars and the moon for a start. 🎉
Absolutely, there is only one China, period.
China PRC friend Henry Kissinger Quote: “To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.”
The next China is AI and opening up frontiers in space. 🎉
Martin Jacques confirm, IT CAN BE DONE.
China PRC did it in One Generation, 1949 poor then India and 2024 now richer then European Union combine.
interesting
Why are you living in England then😢
Martin Jacques is suitable to be king of England to replace King Charles II who knows if relations with China will be normal and cooperate in the economic fields of defense technology and climate change
Thank you 😂😂
