Really love all lyrics written by Richey, he was such a talent, as legendary as Kurt
Wherever you are Ritchie We hear ya….God Bless
I hope Richey is happy, wherever he is 😢❤
RIP Richey. A kind, gentle soul who sadly couldnt find any inner peace, hope he is no longer suffering wherever he is.
emiliano martin ferreyra por mucho que me gustaría creer que está vivo, ya pasaron más de veinte años de su desaparición y casi diez de que lo declararon muerto. no sería ser optimista, sino más bien no querer aceptar la realidad
"Destroyed by madness. Anxiety is Freedom". Richey had a crystal ball when he wrote that one. VERY prophetic. I listened to this track for the first time yesterday and was struck by those lyrics. There's some excellent lyrics on that whole CD. Worth digging out to have a look.
Except for the part where anxiety isn't even remotely freedom. True anxiety separates you from everything and everyone you love and leaves you stranded in a Hell dimension.
Yeah, Kierkegaard said ‘anxiety is the dizziness of freedom’, which puts it into a better context
''love your mess and adore your failure'' what a line haha!
Came here because of the repeated references to this band by Of Herbs and Altars and I think I’m in love.
i knew about them before watching of herbs and altars and therefore am an objectively superior person, i love gatekeeping
James Dean Bradfield went through puberty between the first two albums.
I just discovered this band. Crazy about the guitar player going missing. What a shame. In a positive light, this song is bad ass!!
This has GOT to be my favourite song of The Manics. Hands down - its beautiful... stay beautiful!!!!
Love early maniacs Ritchie was a great writer miss you hope you have sorted you inner demons
Why is Welsh Music just the best?!
I swear, you guys rock!
Early Manics were amazing. Those first three albums... #Chef's_Kiss
This song is such a rush. Perfect melodic punk rock. This is how it's done!
Though the whole first album is great, for me, Stay Beautiful--the song, coupled with the video--sums up the band the best. "We're a mess of eyeliner and spraypaint, DIY destruction and Chanel chic" seems like a mission statement that the band had at the time, but as the band evolved and got older (and perhaps when the rock n' roll dream had ended for Richey), something about it encapsulates the band at their most enduring crossroads: your youth won't go on forever.
It's only two sentences. And if they'd used a semicolon after "best" it would've been one sentence.
But I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly. The Manics in this era are up there amongst the greatest rock bands ever. (In my humble estimation.)
I was a huge fan from 92, Richey disappeared and the band blew up, the lacked any of the style and balls that I loved about them, never really liked much by them after The Holy Bible
I don't care if some of the lyrics sound like they were written by some angsty 17-year-old. It's still sounds like it was written by one of the smartest goddamn 17-year-olds who'd eventually go on to write some of the best lyrics in modern rock. "Love your mess and adore your failure." I'll take a failure this vital and alive sounding over bloodless studio perfection any day.
Besides after all the cheesy 80s glam and sparkly neon SHITE we had to deal with, for a kid in the middle of wales, england hell anywhere to hear this it was a real wake up call i reckon. you had to be there
That riff blows me away - the best I've ever heard
This whole album is just timeless.
I have been a fan since 92 Great Band!
I remember. The feeling of the mid-nineties. Can’t call it, just remember it.
Their first, best and one of my favourite albums, Generation Terrorists.
Richey may have not been able to play guitar, but he was the heart and soul of the Manics.
@@AD-xi9hy Richey mimed his guitar playing and wasn't skilled at it. He guided the band's image and wrote most of the lyrics.
He could play, he was just very very bang average, and lightyears behind James' ability
These kids have future in music.
I will always relate to and love this band. Some things never change. UK 11/9/22
remember seeing the video when it first came out and thought american band but the lyrics were interesting, little did i realise they lived 40 miles away from me and turned into my favourite band of all time.
first time hearing this banger.
"Stay Beautiful"
Find your faith in your security
All broken up at seventeen
Jam your brain with broken heroes
Love your masks and adore your failure
We're a mess of eyeliner and spraypaint
D.I.Y. destruction on chanel chic
Deny your culture of consumption
This is a culture of destruction
Don't wanna see your face
Don't wanna hear your words
Why don't you just
Don't wanna see your face
Don't wanna hear your words
Why don't you just
Babes on the run with poisoned lips
Wrap your arms round this everlasting kiss
Clinging to your own sense of waste
All we love is lonely wreckage
Your school your dole and your chequebook dreams
Your clothes your suits and your pension schemes
Now you say you know how we feel
But don't fall in love cos we hate you still
Don't wanna see your face
Don't wanna hear your words
Why don't you just
Don't wanna see your face
Don't wanna hear your words
Why don't you just

@@lpifitnessbrandproducts6774 The lyrics are in the line notes of the album. 🙂
I remember seeing them in 92 at Reading university and they were amazing and beautiful with amazing lyrics and riffs especially the first album
i was at work listening to the Radio One Road Show 1991 and this was on - blew me away - best record i'd heard since the days of punk rock - this was punk for the 90s and I loved it - best manics single
Destroyed by madness, oh yeah
Destroyed by madness, oh yeah

richey is so lovely, i miss him
Destroyed by madness! Oh yeah Anxiety is freedom!
Culture of consumption? this is a culture of destruction! What a great line and so very true. Richey Edwards is also drop dead beautiful in that video! 😛

one of my favourite manics songs of all time.....destroyed by madness...I remember listening repeatedly to Generation Terrorists over 20 years ago...
vine por DROSS y sus top de cosas misteriosas como la desparicion de ese tipo la banda toca buen punk chingon
Absolutely beautiful song, wish I was alive back in the 90s so much good music.
Exactly! Legend haha! I'm sick of music that has no purpose or message. This generation will ultimately fail due to the lack of originality in the music industry at this current time. We need more bands, and less computer musicians.

This song is lyrically and musically sublime :)
sorry for leaving many comments.but manics is my life, their music literally saved me when i've been mollested by my father.they're still stalking, and system, security of my country is corruped.i gotta protect by myself.. in this no justice world.their music only save me and i can keep and have sanity in this insanity world.i'm educated by them.so much respect and love to MANIC STREET PREACHERS.
I agree with you totally... My god, we're all being traumatised in one way or another.. So sorry to hear what you've been through; everything is an attack on the human heart. Our planet is an anagram of heart (earth); don't let them kill your heart or soul. Much love xx
The kids don’t need to hear about molestation when listening to these sounds brother man
still amazing
Richey Edwards was an intelligent guy academically, well read, good with words, however, he couldn't seem to find a way to live, he couldn't find peace of mind. A life without peace of mind is miserable, or if you are feeling tormented by guilt or shame about something, or maybe its just your own thoughts that are driving you crazy on a daily basis, then its a tough existence.
If that is how your life is then your life will be very hard and will often lead to massive depression, im not just talking about ritchie, but anyone, I know how it can be. We need to concentrate on positive thoughts and guard the ideas we take in to our minds to give ourselves a chance of turning our lives around. I'm a long way from where I want to be still
Life is a difficult thing to understand in life. I've been through depression, suicidal tendencies, and have survived through struggles beyond my belief. Here I am, at 59 years of age, a poet, watched my six boys grow, three grandchildren with another on the way, working and living and loving life, and to top it all off, been introduced to wonderful bands such as Manic Street Preachers.
love richey
First Manics song I heard August 1991 - never looked back since.
JDB A Masterpiece! X l love ❤️ him!x
love you richey, i want to see you, everywhere
Best UK band of the 90s. Bar none
I can’t believe it has no more likes. I absolutely adore this 😎
"Destroyed by madness"
I still don’t get how they never crossed over in America. Unlike a lot of Brit pop bands who sound very British, these guys have a very American pop punk sound that people would LOVE
Maybe after Richey went missing a bit of exactly the vibe you are talking about went missing as well. I mean they wanted to promote in the states and the day before the big promotion tour he was just gone…
@@dj-um7el I thought the UK is Great Britain. And parts of it are like England, Scotland, Wales… I might be wrong. I‘m not british, just a german lad who tries to remember what the teacher said years ago 😂
It’s mad that they came from my town and went my school
Such an underated band
richey took this very literally.
100% my favourite manic street preachers album
Oh the nights spent in the Purple Turtle in Camden, drinking pitchers of Jesus Juice. Long live Stay Beautiful!
God only knows what the British music scene in the 90's would have been like without this band and the Wildhearts!
Well we had Oasis,Stone Roses, Pulp,The Verve,Black Grape,The Prodigy,Chemical Brothers etc but i do get your point, it wouldn’t be the same without them.

Journalist Richard Hall with Richey’s best friend Richard Fry expose the entire story. The rest of the band know full well what happened and that he is still alive today. If you’re a Maniacs fan and / or someone who wants to know the truth please watch all 4 parts of the documentary by Richard Hall and read the book “This Is My Truth Richey Edwards Now Tell Me Yours” by Richard Fry who was Richey Edwards best friend, here’s a link to the book: www.richplanet.net/store/books/BRF01
@@oli3437 You forgot Ocean Colour Scene
I saw the documentary , I reckon he is still alive from the uncles reaction to Richard Hall about the wedding
I remember seeing this on 120 Minutes and going straight out to get the album
he is forever
Thank you *The Manic Street Preachers* Stay Beautiful. Cheers. Ciao
the music video version sounds better than the others idk why
this is a great song i Love It
The best band about,
Okay, the guitar solo is great, JDB is something of a guitar genius being lead singer as well. I remember the music press really sticking the boot in (specifically the now defunct Melody Maker) when they were first on the scene. Then 'A Design For Life' broke them massive and everybody's kissed their asses ever since. Now that Wales football song they did was shameful.
Most intelligent and intellectual band around
Had only heard this and motown junk before going to see them at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glesga in the early 90s', what a night of stage diving that was, awesome !
This song is really good
They are so young in this😂🎉😊.
Rock n rollers, beyond any shadow of a doubt ing thomas!!
Saw em first off stateside a promo thing they played in front of 200 insiders including me...mind blown!
For some strange and inexcusable reason, I gave all my Manics albums to a charity shop, sort of thinking they were kinda shit. I know, that makes me look a complete fool. Because they actually rock the house down, and I love jamming on the geeetar full blast along with them. What a band.
Love your mess and adore your failure
Jay Grainger mess seems more likely, it sounds like mess it looks like mess it makes more sense don't read into the album/cd cover to deeply they often make mistakes .
One of the most underrated bands of the 90's easily
They were very rated in the 90s actually
@@felicitytoad I love you. Thank you for providing your feedback. I think you are a great person for subscribing to my youtube channel
Along with Catherine Wheel
Err.. Extremely well rated in the 90's!!
