In today tutorial, I will be knitting the Garter Stitch Rib pattern.
It is a simple and textured pattern, alternating garter stitch and stockinette stitch columns.
Here’s how you can knit it:
Pattern Description:
This pattern is knit flat, so you’ll be working back and forth on your needles.
It involves alternating knits and purls in specific sections to create the ribbing.
***Materials:
Yarn of your choice.
Suitable knitting needles for your yarn weight.
Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends).
Pattern Instructions:
Cast On:
Cast on a multiple of 6 stitches (e.g., 24, 30, 36) + 3 extra stitches for balance.
Pattern Rows:
Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 3, Purl 3 across to the last 3 stitches, then Knit 3.
Row 2 (Wrong Side): Knit across all stitches.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until your project reaches the desired length.
Notes:
The edges (Knit 3 at the beginning and end) create a clean and stable border.
This pattern is reversible, with a textured ribbing effect on both sides.
To adjust the ribbing width, you can change the sequence to Knit 2, Purl 2 or other combinations.
Finishing:
Bind off in pattern (maintaining the Knit 3, Purl 3 sequence) to ensure the edge remains stretchy.
Weave in loose ends with a tapestry needle.
