I keep my mower clean after every use. It still looks brand new.
I use a 3/8 " cordless impact wrench that has three speeds. I use the lowest speed.
Makes the job much easier!
Tip the mower to the side with the carb facing up.
Good video! Learning DIY blade sharpening saves you money and let's you sharpen more often = healthier grass!
Amen to that! 😀
Nice video. I only use my reel mowers now but when I did use the rotary and even with my reel mowers I use sand paper to keep the blades clean before each use. Takes literally a few seconds. I only sharpen them if they get nick on the edge otherwise I keep them clean this way and don't have to worry about changing the angle.
Nice tip! 😉
Sharpening a 'rotary blade and keeping the angle is as simple as running water from your faucet.
I always take a practice stroke 🤣🤣🤣
Nice vid.... 👊👊👊
Thanks brahhhh
You’d be surprised how many of your neighbors have not sharpened their blades ever 😳 I usually wind up sharpening a few more when they see me out their with the Ryobi angle grinder 😆
You oughta be charging 10 bucks a pop! Hahaha
My next door neighbors lawn is always brown and shredded, I asked him last year how often he sharpened his blades..
"Never, they come sharp from the factory"....his mower is a 10 year old craftsman.....
Woah that’s a little too much haha
@@TheLawnMentor he's basically beating his grass with a lump of metal 🤣🤣🤣
No lawnmower blade needs to be sharp enough to cut paper. That is silly. Sharp, correct angle and remove burrs with a file.
Great video Kyle, I sharpen my blades monthly. I use my Ryobi angle grinder, I like not having the cord in the mix. 😎🌴👊
I just got one of those too, but the flap disk I have doesn’t fit! So I’ll be shopping for that soon 😀
Monthly is not necessary. Obtain an additional blade(s) and sharpen it, hang it on the wall. Then in the middle of the mowing season switch set(s). Then sharpen and balance the one just removed. Hang it on the wall. At the end of the mower season, repeat the process and following the correct procedure for storing the mower. I recommend using ethanol free gas and add stabilizer. If you engine has a shut off valve, turn off the gas and finish the last few minutes of mowing and allow it to run out of gas. Install an in-line fuel shut off valve on any engine where it is possible. Change you oil no less than every other year unless you put more than 25 hours per year on your mower, but many change it yearly. Take advantage of modern synthetic oils for as they do a superior job of protecting your engine. Above all all, keep it clean of debris and lubricate all moving parts. Never store your equipment outside if possible, not doing so shortens the life of the mower.
@@CuriousKL I prefer monthly because that’s just me, and I have the time for it.
Great video Kyle. I do the exact same thing. In fact I think I have that same angle grinder. 👍🏼
Good ole Hobo freight!
@@TheLawnMentor 🤣
Oh wow. I also use a flap disc.
I've been doing it this way for a couple years and I'm going to start switching up because I'm learning this way is to aggressive and it's almost impossible to see what you are doing. I'll see if I can find that video that's changed my mind LOL

I’d be curious to see!
Top notch video! 👍
Thanks Sunny! ☀️ 🌞
Use a sharpie to mark the edge. That'll help you know if you've found the right angle
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
You don’t use a torque wrench to tighten it to spec?
Not when using the impact gun, no.
No, why? If you use an light duty impact wrench, and just make it tap tap a couple times it will be tight enough.
Is 80 grit the optimum? I seen some recommend 40 and 60, also
It’s all preferences really
Beware that B&S does not always backup their warrenty
Thanks for the heads up!
