I'm naming my pet hognose snakes (that I plan to breed) after vampires. So I have quite a few... I'm considering Carmilla for my newest one. I haven't confirmed that she is female yet though.

@@gracehughes8776 why would someone go to church to read a twilight novel when its not during a church service?if that person gave herself the stress to drive to church just to read a novel inside then thats just disrespecring God and the church.we may not have the same beliefs but is christians believe thst the church is a sacred place and only book to be read in it should be books related to christ...the same way we respect other religions and pagans or atheists.those people should respect Our religion too.otherwise going a step ahead to show that they dont care about it is pure childish behaviour.

Black dagger brotherhood is my favorite series ever!
I love the BDB too. From the first book I was hooked. I love the way J. R. Ward weaves her storyline and the characters are very well represented.
I needed to see this. I'm literally CRAVING new vampire novels to read. It's been so long since I've read one. & I used to be obsessed with them!
Try the Renquist quartet by Mick Farren starting with the Time of Feasting. Superb!

Also I've read every single Sookie Stackhouse books and they are SO GOOD and actually pretty dark
Romantic Vampire stories: Elizabeth Hunter "Elemental Mysteries" series are fab. 1990's vampire stories: Chelsea Quinn Yarbro "Count Saint-Germain" series. Had a nice walk down memory lane here. Thanks for this one Chelsea .... and welcome back!!!!

I remember reading so many of these when I was younger! A more recent vampire read for me that I enjoyed was The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. It was my first Holly Black novel. I also had no idea George R R Martin wrote a vampire story!! I stayed till the end hahaha great video! 😁
I appreciate the Poppy Z. Brite mention. She is a particular favorite of mine.
Watching this and continuously pausing to update my goodreads. So many great choices, I had just watched another vampire book list and it was every obvious (and not well written) vamp book. This list is amazin, you have so many types of books. Excited to pick some of these up!
Kudos, Chelsea!! Such a comprehensive vampire recs video, if someone can't find a vampire book to read from this, they obviously don't like vampire novels!! JR Ward is great, btw, when you are ready for some good, sexy vampires, read 2 or 3 of these, love them, and I haven't read them all by any stretch, but they are good! I also really like Sherrlyn Kenyon's books, again, plenty of sexy times in these as well! I would like to read Anne Rice sometime, need to get in that headspace though! I'm so glad to hear someone else mention The Passage trilogy! I absolutely adored that series (dense as it was), but it's just so good! Love all the recommendations in this video - I'll be saving it to come back to in the future.
I also really like the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, which has a combination of angels and vampires, but I like the origins of the vampires in that series.
Brian Lumley's The Necroscope is a classic from 1986, and if you like that he has a whole series that will engage you for a long time.
The ENTIRE 15 book series is awesome! The Vampire World trilogy, books 6,7, & 8 were 600-800 pages ea. and was fantastic!
I've read all his books beginning with the Necroscope and going on through the Wamphrie series. I have heard they are being picked up for cinema.
vampire academy and bloodlines are definitely my favorite vampire books. they are so amazing.
also the vampire diaries is my favorite show everrr. though i never really enjoyed the vampire diaries books.
I have read vampire academy which I loved. I didn't care for bloodlines. Sydney was annoying. I love twilight. I have read the vampire shade which I really loved

@@deiracortez8915 vampire academy is from the point of view of Rose Hathaway(first person) and Bloodlines is from the point of view of Sydney and also Adrian (in the later books)

The Immortal Rules, and the Evernight series (along with twilight) literally got me into reading. And I NEVER see people talk about the Evernight Academy series, so I am SO happy to see these mentions

OMG!!!!!!! I am soooo happy that someone loved House Of Night! I don't know if you know that they came out with 2 new books in that series in a side series but with all the same characters. It's sooo good to be back in the world! But then again I'm from Oklahoma and to see Vampires go to a finishing school in Tulsa was amazing! Also this was one of the first books I ever read that featured a Gay Male character which just made me happy! This series will forever hold a place in my heart!

Fantastic video!! I thought I had read a lot of vampire books, but oh my, I now have a new very long list to check out. I do thank you. I read Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. It is the first book in The All Souls Trilogy about vampires and witches. I loved it!! She has a new book out, Times Convert, which is a prequel. I haven't read it yet, but I hear it's very good.
I love Sunshine by Robin McKinley and also Deanna Raybourn wrote a vampire book called The Dead Travel Fast. Neither of these authors are known for books like that, but both books were really fantastic.
My favorite vampire series that I never hear anyone talk about is the Cirque Du Freak series
I haven't read Cirque Du Freak since 5th grade (I'm in highschool now), and even though I've forgotten a lot of events that happen, it's still one of my favourite series. I mean, I stopped reading as much after it because no other book caught my interest like Cirque Du Freak did.

Barbara Hambly wrote a whole vampire series. They're the only vampire books I really like. I started with "Travelling With the Dead" and then had to move back and read "Those Who Hunt the Night." So richly detailed and the characters just come to life -- or un-life.
Richelle Mead is amazing! You should also check out her adult series, Georgina Kincaid series is one of the best series I've ever read.
Great recommendation! One of my favorite paranormal romance series is Jane Jamison series by Molly Harper and the Half Moon Hallow spin off series! Molly Harper books are full of fun laughs and snarkiness!!! 😁
Ah, yes, my favorite supernatural creature! I've read or own many of these, great options! I also remember The Silver Kiss which was around the same time of Demon in my View.

I reread the twilight series once a year. I have them all on audio as well and love watching the movies. It's okay to be a fan! It's an excellent series and made me obsessed with the supernatural genre.
I absolutely loved the historian! I usually dont live history and geography books, but this is well done

Try Neil Gaimans The Graveyard Book. one of the main characters is a vampire. It has one of the greatest opening sentences ever.
Appreciate the Lost Souls mention; it's still one of my absolute favorites to date. Read this first when I was way too young for it, but I don't regret this choice lmao and I iterally re-read my old paperback until it fell apart. Now I just baby my hardcover copies haha
I was hoping you'd mention Vampire Kisses! While I didn't finish it, I was obsessed with it. It had a comic, too.

A prequel that leads up to a retelling of Dracula is Diaries of the Family Dracul. It is historical fictionish. It is awesome!
I feel it is Anne Rice meets Brom Stoker. And Anne Rice is my favorite author ever.

I read Fevre Dream ages ago. Martin has an interesting take on vampires. Have you read Barbara Hambly's James Asher series or Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's St. Germain books?
Nobody seems to mention or remember the Cirque Du Freak series when they were younger. I loved reading them as a YA.
I love The Historian. It is a book I revisit it every few years.

I just started writing a vampire book today, like you said at the end of your video-want to make a vampire series that dark, action packed and not “sparkles”. A book/series that attracts both men and women-like how Harry Potter drew the attention of everyone but do it for vampires!

I feel accomplished having been able to guess a few books in a few categories. I may have read quite a few vampire books in my days as well.
My favorite guilty pleasure vampire series is the Argeneau vampires by Lynsay Sands. I grew up on them and just love the premise and type of vampire that’s introduced.

Oh me too! I am so into Witches right now. I just read all of The Wicked Witches of the Midwest series (in order that includes the shorts and fantasy books) by Amanda M. Lee, and I loved them. Really charming and funny.
I will have to check those out. I love the discovery of witches series from Deborah harkness
Vivian Shaw's Dr Greta Helsing books are good too - Greta is a Harley Street doctor specialising in supernatural creatures, I reallky enjoy her competence and the different types of literary vampires she encounters (and the connections with their other stories). Not fully about vampires but vampires are major characters. Some romance, some horror, a richly imagined supernatural world with actual scientists and systems living alongside the modern world. Great reads!
I devoured the House of Night books too. The writing is kinda eh and the last few books fell through for me but they were a really fun read. The Sookie Stackhouse books were so good and I’ve been craving some paranormal romance lately so I’ll have to check some of these out!
Brian Lumley's Necroscope series (18 books) is brilliant. His other material (e.g. Titus Crow, etc.) is also well worth a read.
My fav vampire books....circle of seven series by Nora Roberts and when darkness falls by Shannon Drake

Christine Feehan is also a good author for paranormal and vampire books. I definitely recommend her since I've reread a couple of her series.

Alright a little late to the game on this but when you mentioned Sherrilyn Kenyon, I was almost expecting you to mention Christine Feehan. She has a vampire series (also a shifter series) and I devour her books when they come out. One of the few authors I pay full price for the hardbacks for because I don’t want to wait several more months for the paperback edition to be published.
Have you ever read the insatiable duology by Meg Cabot? I read it years ago when it first came out and I loved it. From what I remember it’s kind of a Dracula retelling. I’ve been meaning to reread them.
I recommend the vampire academy series, and the mortal instruments series 😊

I really recommend Kitty and the midnight hour by Carrie Vaughn, the main character is a werewolf but vampires play a big part in the story, and there's a follow up book in the series called The Last Conquistador which is all about a vampire character moving through history.
I love the passage trilogy 😍

Chibi vampire is amazing too!!! It's also called Karen. It's about a girl (Karen) who is a un-vampire in a vampire family. Like she has to bite to GIVE blood instead of take and the others are normal vampire. It's so adorable I highly recommend it!! It's not as serious but still amazing
