I appreciate the enthusiasm and energy of the narrator, and I like your boat a lot, but I am surprised and slightly shocked at how many flaws and mistakes made it out of the factory. I have a new appreciation for the work the dealership needs to do to get a boat out onto the water.
Thanks for the support and the comments! Yep, getting the boat right is all about the right dealership. Regal is actually very good on how they ship out their boats, I am aware of several manufactures that ship 80% completed boats and put the completion of the boat on the dealership... no kidding!
Very nice. Reminds me of the day we took delivery of our 38XO. We had several issues but we live near the factory so they sent a crew out to the boat to address them. It took a few days but they were very good about addressing each issue.
We had similar cosmetic issues when we took delivery of our 38XO in 2020. Especially when it came to interior issues where it was all covered via warranty. Seems to me if Regal hired a full time inspector and did a detailed walkthrough before the boat left the factory they would save money and make for a better delivery experience. When issues are found after the fact it takes more time, effort and cost to resolve as opposed to catching the problem at the factory. Someone I know actually went down to the factory with their dealer and did a walkthrough when their boat was complete before it was shipped.
Hey Robert... I don't disagree but I also think there might be a lot of these issues that are a result of the significant number of people on and off the boat after the trail runs at the factory and when it arrives at the dealership. Some of these are quality issues no doubt but it seems like most of them are from people running around. I would think if they just had things covered (seats and such) it might significantly reduce the after dealership warranty issues.
Right. How about this... look at ALL the warranty claims during the 1st year after delivery for all boats then note which items keep showing up. Then make changes and inspect those specifically before shipping the boat out. Create position or at least a set of tasks and make that part of someone's job description. When I did the factory tour I did see some sort of hard copy list of defects but I'm suggesting to make it computerized/tracked and acted upon. From your video, it looks like you may have had some of the same issues I had in the interior and your build was 4 years after mine. Minor stuff in the schema of things but just seems like a more expensive way to end up at the same place. Having said that, I have no knowledge of what quality control process Regal has in place. I know that each boat does go though a number of checks/testing.. Maybe they focus more on the mechanics as opposed to the aesthetics? @@From100to26
Hats off the Lisa and hubby for wanting to do a good job and make their customers happy, you would think a lot of what you have pointed out would of been caught at the manufacture and dealt with there lack of quality control..
I totally agree.. simply the best Dealership we have ever dealt with! Reference the manufacture quality ... we have see a lot worse. Thanks so much for watching the channel! It really means a lot to us!
I’m in the early stages of my next boat purchase. Have narrowed it down to the 36 XO or the 38 XO. These videos are so valuable to my wife and I. Thank you for taking the time to share! Well done for sure!
Hey Steve! Thanks so much for the comments.. it really means a lot to us. That was the point of the Regal part of our channel is to take people through the purchase process.... the good and the bad. In the next 6 weeks we will be dropping the boat and taking it on the first couple of trips. Always feel free to reach out via DM on Facebook if you have any specific questions. Again thanks so much for the support.
Sure will. Looking forward to your next videos! Congratulations an a beautiful boat. I will definitely be watching and I’m sure I’ll have a few questions along the way. Thanks again for such quality work!
Great video !! How picky can yo be with flaws ?? The slight gap in the veneers under the microwave--will that fall under warranty?? Thanks for the great show!!
Hi. When we got our 38 delivered I listed every possible thing I could find no matter how small. When you are paying that kind of money for a boat why not. I figured worst case is they may reject some of my items. Well the dealer or Regal fixed every issue I listed . The key also was the dealer. If your dealer isn’t any good, it can be a battle.
Is it just me or did it seem like there was quite a few “issues“ with a brand new boat! Lotta green tape on the hull and that whole thing with water behind the seat And the bow thruster blades touching the tube. I think I might’ve held onto that check till everything was done.
Thanks so much for your comments and your support watching the channel. What you are seeing in this video is not something a typical buyer would be seeing or catching. This initial process is usually not seen by the buyer, but because we are talking the UA-cam world through the process, we wanted to show everyone every step.... even those that a typical buyer would not see. The green tape is actually from the dealer going through the boat noting items. When we did our walkthrough almost all of the issues identified were already caught by the dealership when we did the true up between the lists. This was actually annunciated by Lisa saying this or that issue might have already been caught by their acceptance team. I hope that brings some clarity to the video if we did not do a good enough job explaining that. We have no problem paying for a boat because of our confidence in our dealer. That said, I have had friends with other boats have well over 1500 items found during their acceptance (not Regal), and their list was still above 1000 items 12 months in. This is why we are talking people through the process... so you can see everything.
Thanks so much for your comments and supporting the channel. As indicated in the video this boat was not fully PDI’ed by our dealer and the purpose was to walk people through all the issues that are associated with new boat builds. Reference the Pursuit comment, having built two boats at the same level as a pursuit (might even be considered better) and having both of those boats purchased back by the factory due to massive quality issues, in my opinion there is not one boat manufacture that is better than another. In addition since Pursuit does not offer anything close to the 38XO platform it is a rather moot point.
Thanks so much for your comments and supporting the channel. As indicated in the video this boat was not fully PDI’ed by our dealer and the purpose was to walk people through all the issues that are associated with new boat builds both from the end user and the dealership.
Thanks so much for watching the channel and the support. I/we do something because we love it.. not because there is money to be made. @@From100to26 You misunderstood what I was saying. What did you do before buying that boat for income to get to that level? You can't just buy a boat like that without tons of income. Schools don't teach this. I raise awareness for how younger people can have a path to financial success.
@@richr909 Well we never chartered out our big boat (to make money) , and you don't really make a lot of money on UA-cam... 4 guys for 3 weeks to fix what are mostly Manufacturing defects.......... That's some very poor quality control at the factory. And you are still finding more things they missed. That's terrible
Actually if you listened to Lisa she said about 50 percent of the issues were due to transport damage. What I am seeing on this boat is well below what I have seen in the past with new boats we have purchased. Also what you are seeing normally you would not see because it would be taken care of prior to delivery. We had asked to see every step of the process to document it for you guys. There are some manufactures that actually deliver boats to their dealers missing large mechanical assemblies and relay on the dealership to finish the boat for them… no kidding. @@From100to26 What a pain for the dealers. What happened to doing it right the first time. I've always believed that what you see in a product is what to expect from the parts of the product you can't see. This doesn't speak well for the manufacturers quality IME And just because other boat manufacturers are worse doesn't make it acceptable.
@@lenjanssen9600 I agree with you 100 percent. In our experience, Regal is one of the better manufactures out there, if you have not watched the Factory episode we did, there is link to it at the end of this episode. They have some great manufacturing techniques. But some manufactures especially those from overseas, you should see how the boat arrives. They are basically leaving up to the dealers to finish building the boat. But that is the purpose of these videos is to educate and set realistic expectations (good or bad) if you are looking to buy a boat or have one built. The dealer is the key to all of this, we have had bad dealers in the past that fight us every step of the way... and we have had dealers like AMPM Marine that literally are picking things out and taking care of them even though you don't see an issue with it.
@@From100to26 That's amazing that the industry is so used to such inferior Quality and quality control. I can hear in your response an experienced acceptance of such standards. If anyone ever does provide a quality product from the factory, it sounds like they could clean up. Good dealers would flock to them (of course some of them wouldn't because they make money on the warranty work). They would likely be less expensive and more profitable to the dealers. IME, Great Manufacturing techniques are only as good as the quality of the products they produce. Looking at some of the defects that arrived at the dealer, those "Great Manufacturing techniques" are more cost driven than quality driven, and, as a customer, are clearly not focused on giving you the best product. I'm glad you have a dealer that cares about the product, but if I were that dealer, I'd be looking for another supplier to represent. If, as you say this is considered high quality in this industry, it's the perfect candidate for someone to come in and disrupt and take out the competitors by providing higher quality products the first time, and likely at a lower cost. If the level of quality that arrived at the dealer are the best the industry has, it's really a very low threshold. That's pretty sad.
