Thumbs up if you learned something! What else do you want to know about this season?
Holy crap, this can’t possibly be intended. Bliz screwing up again?
@Xarrio Nice Video , i wanna know how to fix Fenris Game Crushing, if u could help would be really nice !
Today I learned that masterworking can be quite the expensive habit.
And that i go for the wrong stat 😂
@@HasturLaVishnu Ya... I did the same originally until I figured this out, which inspired me to make this vid.
No
Normally my good items brick before I get to this part of the game.
😂
Ha - all I was thinking too
We all been there.
Tempering needs a slight buff of some sort, not too much tho
Tempering and masterworking in this game is absolute garbage.. I dont even bother with it gambling to get the gear i want is not fun and makes me not wanna play the game half the time.
If Blizzard says "when you complete a masterwork each stat increases 5%" they should ask the players what they think would happen. If the game mechanics don't do what the players think then they should either change the mechanic, or change the words.
Diablo 4 shouldn't require this level of testing of the descriptions.
That said love ya buddy! Thanks again for the explanations and the work you do for us.
Welcome in thr world of Blizzard.
i agree this needs to changed kinda stupid
Who cares? You don't choose which stats get upgrades when masterworking. What difference does it make?
@@mrtoothless you do though. If it dosent upgrade The stat you want, you reset The MW until ut lands on the stat you want.
@@mrtoothless 75% of the time you know what stat you'll get.
I was going to masterwork a full set of gear with life per second, I did the math and realized that if I crit 3 times on all 3 pieces I would still only have 2100 life per second, even with skulls and healing received % it would take nearly 30 seconds to fully heal my rogue.
Life per second is worse than garbage.
Yeah I realized that when I had a 25 life per hit with my 100000 hp barb
Worst affix, always roll it off
it's a great stat for early -> mid-game leveling at least, a couple rolls on random gear and you'll heal your life in
@@rangeispow its never a great stat…(mid) game stats can all be ignored tbh
Life on hit really falls off in wt3 and 4, you'd have to invest in it heavily and get a loooooot of hits to have any meaningful healing, personally it should be buffed a little@@edvaedan9161
Our favorite math professor has returned
I knew the 5% was always based on the original value of the roll. I also knew they got the greater affix number by the base roll + 50%. Didn't know about the greater affix upgrades not going off the total roll value. Good video!
Should we repot this as a "bug" because no where in game says that it should be calculated this way.
Not only does it not say this. It says it works exactly how you'd think it works (stacking multiplication), which it doesn't. It's either a massive miscommunication or a terribly coded math bug.
I def think the GA should be upgraded fully, not based on the base value.
already reported definitely dont need this headache it says 5% upgrade. so its should be a mf 5% upgrade
@@almightyj6508it is a 5% upgrade
I dont think its a bug, that works like that from base stat not from GA stat
nice vid! realized some numbers were off for GA but I just didn't have it in me to dive deeper in and find out the cause.
made a formula just in case anyone's interested
Base + Base [(0.05 (M-T)) + 0.25C]
**GA - multiply final value by 1.5
M - masterwork level
T - Tier of masterwork completed
C - stat crit times
edit: corrected one in comment
this is only for pure numbers, for passives its another story of legendary vs uniques.
GJ on the equation. Though there is 1 correction needed. GA only applies to the base value. Not the final value. So your equation would just add .5 * Base Value if it is GA.
Totally wrong! watchout from those bullshit formulas xD
@@Xarrio ops my bad. Thanks for the feedback!
Corrected version would be the same, just a tweak to GA multiplication
Base (if GA x 1.5) + Base [(0.05 (M-T)) + 0.25C]
M - masterwork level
T - Tier of masterwork completed
C - stat crit times
I’m “double guessing” myself as to how I subscribed to a dude giving us a multiple choice question to start the video.
This is HUGE. Thank you so much for doing all the work on this and sharing this golden info. It's definitely going to help me a ton with which stat to focus on for Masterworking.
I got over 2000 hrs of play time and never imagine that. Awesome work.
Bro, you need more subs and I’m hype for that journey. Such good stuff!!
Thanks bro I was trying to figure if they changed maths! Instant sub!
"The basics of percentages are usually introduced around ages 8-9, in the late Lower Elementary years."
Diablo 4 players : No one would believe this mechanic works like this, those maths are so intricated :O
Your videos are so helpful - thank you!
I never would have guessed or realized that.
What's happening here is that we're getting scammed, mate!
Diablo 4 is a great game. Every day I learn something interesting. It's like a show Dora the Explorer.
I thought this was a joke and you were trolling, but you did the math and it checks out. Hey, thank you very much.
If it hits, it hits. Im not getting any better lol.
The only thing I ever reset a lot is Grand Father. Was worth it since I got lucky after 150m gold and got a triple crit on max life. I probably would have saved a shit ton of gold If I waited for the patch to gamble tho :(
So it's [Base Stat * (1 + MW bonus + GA bonus)]. In this case for the first MW roll it's [80 * (1 + .05 + .5) = 124]. Good to know!
This would be about a 60 second video with the line "Greater affix and masterworking improve base values" then a quick showcase of this with screenshots. Good video, just 10x longer than it needed to be.
Wow appreciate this. Didn't know this
Thanks for the vid..i just got your poison rouge up to 100 last night..im now master working gear on him..
So always before you even start masterworking a decent or strong item, you want to make sure to have the best possible base stats enchanted and tempered, even if it's getting super costly and/ or risking it getting bricked?
For example I have very good stats on my golem necro, not perfect, but good. I pump basically potential millions of gold into it to get perfect base stat and my tempers gave me 2x my desired stuff, but with kinda midly rolls. 3 temper tries are left. What do you do now with this item? Going to risk a temper slot for a higher roll, before starting to masterwork? Or let it just be? Also, what happens then when you decide to risk the temper rolls later, after the masterworking to lets say rank 8? Will the temper roll show up the base stats of that roll( basically reseted) or is it going off of the already pushed numbers by the masterworking.
This system is not rigged, it's bricked... plus made up by a genius devil xD
I knew all about this already. GA doesn’t count on masterwork. And for skills it’s for the most part +1 = 30%.
But the real answer for the first question is E) Upgrade Heartseeker. I mean I’ll take 2xC as well, if I’m real lucky
Maybe I fell asleep, but when you masterwork, you don't even get a chance to decide what is upgraded, do you? And for this example, I would think his weapon would have double % vulnerable damage.
So at the end of it all, if I got this right, upgrading the 92%, we get a bonus 6% total at the end of it all? as in ((80*1.2*1.25)+40)+92=252 if you upgrade greater vs (92*1.2*1.25)+120=258.
I got real lucky with my bow - double crit on the tempered vuln and last crit on the native GA vuln. Unfortunately, you pay for it in kind - I bricked countless GA equipment including amulets with + rank Exploit/ Malice and GA vuln 1H weapons before managing a barely passable roll on the bow.
You ever take your car to a mechanic and ask for an oil change, just for the guy to steal one of your tires and siphon the gas out of your tank?
Yeah, that's what tempering feels like. It's a step in the right direction, but there's a lot of work that needs to done to the system.
I wish loans would work this way.
At least this makes more sense than damage buckets (which I still don't understand, because I haven't gone outside of the game to try to discover how they work [and shouldn't have to]).😳
So master working is split into two seperate additive bonuses that multiply. The 1.05 multipliers add up to a 1.45 multiplier and the 1.25 add up to a 1.75 multiplier. You then multiply your base roll by 1.45, then 1.75 then add (base roll•1.5)? So Base Roll • 1.45 • 1.75 + (Base Roll •1.5) is our equation for finding perfect Masterwork stats?
Wow, not only are the 5% increases NOT compounding, but the GA is ignored and a one time addition to the base value? Ouch. That'll definitely change my views when masterworking. Thank you
Very informative. Thanks for the clarification always appreciate your work
One thing I learned about D4 is they overly complicate things and what you "think" is best, go with the opposite. They could easily put in a tooltip showing you what your next potential rolls would look like for the majority of their userbase. 90% of us are guaranteed clueless to these numbers, including me.
How do you manage to write this well with a mouse? That's crazy
The 92% because the base amount would go up which means the 120% would be 120% more of the upgraded 92. The higher the base nunber the higher the percentages go up. Simple
This is 100% not intended lol but it's blizz after all
Got me. Made the same mistake assuming a GA 120 vuln. masterworked up would give more... temper op.
Nice! Thanks for the vid! I'm going back and changing a few items now.
Amazing, thanks for the info and thorough explanation!
Instant like and subscribed :-)
Thanks for pointing this out.
Looks like a massive bug to me…
Yeah noticed this myself the other day because I had a GA stat with 180 and didnt see it improve by 9 points, instead saw an improvement of 6, so I figured the GA stats were about being a 1.5x multiplier of some base value and that masterworking would not consider final value, only base one
Too bad these things are not informed, you kinda have to guess and test it yourself
Geeez, ty for that!! I did the math so many times, but obviously never checked the result 😬. Probably because I replaced the item or stopped master working when it would have become obvious 😅
I thought Buriza Do Kyanon was a crossbow? Maybe that was in a Warcraft universe
It's a crossbow in Diablo 2, 3 and 4 and pretty much Blizzard has been consistent with its appearance throught all the three games
How you write 4s starting from the right and sometimes from the bottom up is making my eye twitch lol
We still dont know how Affixes / Masterwork stats being applied to the final output. Is it possible that for example Affixes has a 1.5 weight against MW stats at the end? Would be cool to make a Video about that too, with some test. Great Vid btw, ty 👌👏
Now to make decisions based of this, only for a patch to rollout that changes this to how it's supposed to be...
ME: Just finished Math class! I can now relax and play more games!
Blizzard: Get yo ass back to class!
Which amulet option would you choose : “ exploit+2, frig+2”, lucky chance%” or “Deadly venom+2, frig+2, lucky chance%” ?
Big Andy’s buff let’s go!!!!
E) Try to feel good about whatever the RNG gods give you.
Another banger
Fuck you’re a legend. This is huge information and so annoying that this isnt basic common knowledge that someone needs to do all this wild testing
When i heard "it upgrades the base value" i instantly facepalmed myself LMAO
Thanks man. Super useful.
Thanks shared to clan + liked + subscribed. Nice finding
All my " perfect gear " is now bricked cuz of you. Thanks man 😂
Happens to the best of us. =(
Very helpful info. Unfortunately, now I feel like it's an even bigger waste of time trying to get perfect masterwork crits since it's only the base value hahahaha
Id just leave it because the chance of even getting vulnerable again is so slim youll break your item with a stat you didnt want
Yea i was suspecting it was adding less
I'm just going to assume the 92 wins, because that's the base value of the affix. While masterworking a Greater Affix (which is already boosted by 50%) is increasing a lower base value.
So it's actually an upgrade choice between 92% and ~80%. so the 92% gives an additional 23% total damage, where as the Greater would only increase by 20.
Now.. let's see if I'm actually right and it's just Blizzard math.
Edit: Yep, exactly as I thought lol.
Great explanation thank you for the video!
This was really helpful, thank you.
E: heartseeker chance to cast twice :D
This seems like something they need to fix. Obviously it should be multiplying by the whole greater affix amount and not just the base
That's cool and good to know, but there's nothing to do about where the 25% falls anyway.
Thank you mate - solid explanation my man
Thank you, I learned something very useful
Wish I had of watched this a month ago 😢 back into the pit I go...just had to reset all my weapons
Not that any of this matters, because we can't CHOOSE which affix gets the 25% boost. It's RNG picked.
i hate the way you write your number 4, but this is very useful info. thanks!
Can't stop the 4.
Thanks for sharing, that's good to know !
Can you do a video on 100% dodge and how good/bad it is for PvE/PvP?
Subbed for this video. Very good info.
So how do you get it to not roll on the useless ones 15 times in a row 😑
Get new item and cry 😢

I could cry too, I'm coming with 😢
Rumor is when you watch my vids it increases the odds of getting the good ones. So you should be good to go now.
Awesome Vid! Keep making em
Mathematically, people are completely right. x% of 120% is better than x% of 92%. The problem is that blizzard does not calculate what they more or less tell you they calculate.
They tell you, in written form on the screen, they'd upgrade 120% and in reality they only upgrade 80%. How should you know that as a normal player who does not do a scientific approach to the game. Those unclearities are one of the reasons many players feel screwed by such games (not only diablo iv does this, similar games have similarily cryptic calculations)
So really you want to focus on max rolls that are non greater affixes to upgrade instead of the lower rolls correct? Obviously GA will provide more overall stat, but for raw number upgrade better roll = more?
Really helpful video thanks! Can you explain how it works with ranks to skills? I masterworked both a necklace with ranks and a necklace with GA ranks and both times those affixes got upgraded the ranks didn’t change or improve at all! What a ripoff
For legendaries with skills, GA, each Crit MW, and 12/12 will upgrade the skill +1 eventually. lt may not upgrade immediately on the crit MW, but it will upgrade at some time by the time you get to 12/12. For example, a +2 skill will be +3 with a GA, will become +4 with 12/12 and with 2 MW crits, it will become +6 by the time you get to 12/12. The exact upgrade rank at which it will increase can be determined, but it is a little bit more complicated to figure out (Wudijo did a good video on it if you want to check it out, or just go on maxroll and use the builder to see when it'll upgrade).
@@Xarrio great info ty
Interesting, but at the end of the day those small things we can't even control. I'll take a few % off whatever 😅
C, I'm guessing that the masterworking applies only to the max range of the base stat. I.e. 80% × 1.5 = 120%. Therefore, the masterwork would give you 80% × 0.25 = 20% extra Vulnerable DMG vs. 92% × 0.25 =23% extra Vulnerable DMG. But I'm only making this assumption because why else would you have made a video about this? lol. Okay, now I'm going to finish the video!
I mean at this point I think the correct move for the diablo team would be to just pay Xarrio and all the other content creators for finding bugs and reverse engineering how this spaghetti code is working. Also, can't we have something working as intended for once lol?!
Awesome video bro thank you so much❤
Damage buckets, multiplyer stacking, tempering “bonuses”.it’s so freaking confusing. Add that to the “attack power doesn’t matter” generalization and one can only assume that this game is designed by either Uber-level statisticians or sadists.
I thought you didn’t get to pick which stat? I’ve only added levels to a unique so far though.
Where do you find the base percetage and the GA value percentages?
Diablo math is so mystic
Great video. Do you think that you can explain the resident points? I get 50% penalties all the time and have hard to focus at the games all aspects 😬
Awesome thanks again. Have you thought about or already made a community discord ?
I see an error in both your math and Blizzard's math. That 84% isn't adding another 40%, it's adding another 42%. By that math it should be 126% vulnerable damage, not 84% plus 40% making it 124%. So by my math, the amount we originally saw, should be right. I thought I would point that out, so you can bring it up to Blizzard. I don't think something like that should go unnoticed by people. Other than that, the rest of the math is good.
You remind me of league of milk a dude that used to make nioh 2 endgame videos but great video brother
I did the math once and thought they programmed something wrong. Because it says "all stats + 5%" no mentioning to the base stat!
Anyway I am just a casual and think this game is a clicking simulator, just with better graphics than banana game.
What if i even can not get this 92% vurn? All i get is +40~50 to damage or other stuff and then throw to trash my 2star bows!
Good info bro
they should make it a little better , like at 4 one stat goes 25 at 8 it one gets 50%, and at 12 all of the stats get 25% or maybe even 50, i dont even feel like farming mats for masterworking 12 if i know i wont get the stat i want anyway
Holy shit, thanks for doing the math.....this is actually huge. Leave it to Blizzard to make it super complicated. 😅
This is really an eye opener😮
So blizzard is dumb, it should continue accumulating like it was advertised.
I suck at math so i subbed
me too 🤣
