Fender liner install video coming soon
Today we install the Quake LED Fender Chop kit on out Jeep Gladiator JT Rubicon
Thanks for the video. I just completed this project, while simultaneously installing AAL fender liners) this weekend.
IOT avoid drilling the hole in the fender for the bolt attachment to the Quake mount, I elected to use 3M (5952) VHB tape. The mount tab and fender area of contact was cleaned and prepped with 3M Adhesion Promoter 111 solution before taping. Once taped, I used miniature clamps to firmly hold the fender to the mount for several days. 3M provides a percentage of bondage increase (per day) chart.
Assuming the typical forces exerted on that fender are no greater than some of these wing spoilers that are applied with 3M VHB tape, I don’t anticipate any separation. But the 35s on my Gladiator don’t come in contact with my fenders, even with the sway bar disconnected. If they did, I’d use the provided bolt. So far, so good.
@trashrelocationengineer6472 i didnt think to use tape. I ended up drilling mine. My 35s do hit the metal tab under the fender at full tuck.
Love it. Doing this mod now. This is helpful. And bloody knuckles....real mechanic. :)
Yeah. Lots of sharp edges to get caught on doing this
@@dasllamas I have the Falcon sp2 3.5 Eadjust so I went with the Artec fender liners. The rears were in 3 pieces. Lots of cussing.
Excellent result. Tremendous detailed explanation. Look forward to more videos. Plan on the exact same job. Thanks
Thank you for the comment and complement. I have several videos I just need to edit. Hopefully will be out soon.
Super awesome install vid!! Love the look and subbed too👊🏼
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome video! Them hands took a beating
Oh yeah!
Great content. Very much detailed.
Thank you
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing a REAL experience video (like you said), not just the good parts.
Did you end up chopping the rear fenders as well? Just curious if the procedure was different or difficult at all.
I did chop the rear. Video here.

Im going to use epoxy too, great idea!
Did you do inner liner for the rear as well?
Yes I did. Here is the video. The epoxy didnt hold.

Couldn't you leave some of that inner plastic welded piece for some rigidity?
@bobvagene so after about 2 years not regitity issues. Im sure if you wanted to be creative and cut parts out you could leave some in there if you didnt wanna go full chop
@@dasllamas cool, I love the chopped look. I just don't really like the floppy nature of the full gutting of the inside. I have the black, non painted high line flares and wonder if it would be more stiff.
@@bobvagene huh. Im not sure if it would make a difference
Amazing
I want to do this, but that seems beyond my scope of skills and tools. My 37s are rubbing with a 3.5" lift 😢
You can do it. Just go slow. I covered 99% of everything you need to do in this video.
Awesome!
Great tutorial video thanks! I dont have factory leds will there be an issue if i put these in. Like will it flash a bulb out? ( Going to be getting led headlights as well )
Their package states no flash. Have not heard of any issues with ppl convirting from factory halogen
@@dasllamas I have the factory halogen.....no issues. Mine is done. I'm in Colorado as well.
Thank you for posting this video. The front fender chop does not match the back fenders. How is a rear chop done?
Here is the rear chop.

New sub! Great vid. My ride is the same as yours. Not sure about doing this mod but enjoy watching you tearing apart your fenders😂. Last clip, saw you have your tent held up in the ceiling. How did you do that? Do you have an powered suspender or something ? Do you have a video on that? Thanks.
Thanks for the sub. I just have a small atv winch set up to raise and lower the tent. The bars and straps just stabilize it for storage. I did not make a video on that
@@dasllamas oh wow! That’s a great idea using a winch. I didn’t think about that! I know some guys have their roof top tent lift by having a powered suspender installed (I think that’s what it is called). But you came up with using the winch, which a lot of us would already have with our jeep. Brilliant!! You should make a video on that!😂
Nice wheels which ones are they? What size and offset also?
Weld ledge wheels. 17x9 -12 offset
Great job on details on your video. How well did the JB Hold up?
It lasted about a month. Hit a river crossing a bit hard and it popped off. I ended up screwing them down. Painted the hardware black to hide it better.
It was worth a shot. Thanks.
@@dasllamas I just unboxed “infinite Offroad” version of the led fender chop and it came with an L bracket with 3M adhesive… I hope it works because there’s no drill template like yours. If that fails I’ll try some JB weld or Bondo. And if that also fails I’ll drill some holes 😂 thanks for the tutorial!
Did you end up painting the fender clips dark? Good video by the way, thanks!
I did not paint the clips. The replacement ones I got from amazon were black
hi there, I would like to know where I can purchase those clips at video 6:23? Thanks in advance
Amazon has them
Since these have been installed for some time now, have you had any issues highway driving with the fenders not being reinforced? Do they move around alot or like flap?. Im debating cutting the black unpainted plastic that shows on the outside and leaving it reinforced. Any thoughts?
No issues that ive seen flapping. I did end up screwing them in because the glue popped off when I did a water crossing.
I ended up cutting the inner fender support with a dremal. The fender is more rigid and solid.
@@brendan6608 thanks for the update
hi, so since you bought quake led and using it for while , did the plastic started to change color to yellow ?
It is still white and is not discolored. I live in CO so we go from extreme heatto extreme cold. Lots of road salt / mag chloride. It is garage kept when athome though but is a daily driver.
With LED to LED did you get the hyper flash and bulb out from the computer?
No hyper flash no messages on the dash. It works as designed and advertised.
Does the tire hit the old metal body tabs on the front during full flex?
Had the jeep on blanca peak near Anamosa and did a few flex photos. With 17x9 -12mm offset 35x12.5 tires they do not rub or hit tabs. No lift installed.
Installing on my stock 2018 jeep rubicon do I have to purchase new liners ? In order to install this. I know it will remove the plastic but does it remove the stock liners as well ? Thanks.
It does remove oem liners. You will need aftermarket ones
Perfect. I did research while I waited on my tires. I only bought the aftermarket liners for the front and plan on leaving the back how it is. Don’t off-road much I added 33’s and love the look of the light. Hopefully it doesn’t look weird since they aren’t huge tires
Do you have to remove the factory inner fender liner? I'd like to keep mine as well as the trim
You NEED to have a Rubicon fenders and you have to separate them, that's why it's called a chop.
As das hasguns stated this kit only works with the 2 piece fenders. When you order from quake they have kits for non rubicon but not all fenders will work
Yes, you have to remove the Fender liner, but you can cut it and reuse it, it just won't look as good as an aftermarket liner.
Sell me the oem that you take off, I have halogen lights
Already sold sorry
Doing mine Thursday if interested
Doing mine in a week.
This is super disappointing. I really wanted to see the install of the quake LED lights with the wiring and the plug and play. That’s the ONLY thing you didn’t show!! Sucks. A complete waste of my time
Its literally plug snd play. Unplug the old lights then plug in the new one.
How much did you pay for the video? QQ
@erncrstnclhn Don't you just hate it when someone waste your precious time by forcing you to watch a video.
then they waste more of your time by forcing you to write that comment.
Oh my precious time is lost forever. What will you do with the rest of your life now that those precious 30+ minutes were stolen from you? I'm gonna ride my Pony now.
Dude how the hell are you going to refer to an installation of "plug and play" wiring and expect someone to break it down for you? It's in the name. You plug it in and it works.
He showed the wiring being tucked behind the inner liner and coming out near the bracket. What else is there to talk about?
Very nice .. but it’s not worth the damage and effort
It's not for everyone
