This is my earliest memories of Saturday mornings Children's Television in the 1970,s I loved watching it, still brings back memories of Great times to be a Child. Thanks You.
I remember like it was yesterday when my local cartoon show host in 1969 premiered the 3 greatest shows ever. Marine Boy, Speed Racer and Ultraman after School.
Yes I was born Wednesday June 11 1969 Pennsylvania wee Willie Webber was 40 that day wphl channel 17 Philadelphia Pennsylvania yes marine boy speed racer spider man was on Tuesday December 2 1969
i used to love this show as a kid. watching it now its a bit rough around the edges but has an original concept that could be used to create interesting scenarios. i would like to see this show have some sort of revival.
Arcade Assassin I agree, I think the show has a lot of potential. I'm working with someone who is hoping to film a live action fan film of Marine Boy. We have a Facebook page called Marine Boy Fan Film which I keep up-to-date with Marine Boy fandom etc
Amazing how many childhood memories come flooding back watching marine boy. i use to be crazy over the theme tune I loved it I bought the dvd completes series and still love it Thank you for sharing this Introduction. Bring back Marine Boy. If they can turn Aquaman into something then lets bring Marine Boy back and up to date as character we can love again. Thanks again
I'm glad those memories came flooding back and good to know you still enjoy the series! I hope they bring it back, I think it would do well in this day and age too!
the irony that Marine Boy was made in Japan, and now Japan releases radioactive water into the ocean daily since Fukushima. I grew up watching this in the 60's or whenever it was in the US
I remember marine boy .as a young boy..later I had s dolfin experience in gokarna india when dolfin played with me in the water off kindle beach..at first I thought a shark but a girl from Denmark swam out to tell me it was a dolfin..after this I was known as dolphin boy..you have to have the right vibes to attract them.. xxx.im was a free diver from the u.k..xxvic

I used to enjoy watching this around 1977 on either BBC or ITV. Great review and rundown of the show, brought back many memories that I thought had been locked away in the old grey vaults. Diolch yn fawr.
Adam Darren thanks Adam, I'm glad you enjoyed the vid. It is a great cartoon and one we're looking forward to bringing back with the fan film. Thank you for watching :)
Brilliant series, and concepts, way ahead of it's time, be great for some new visionaries to create a contemporary modern day version of this classic. Thanks so much for posting, really appreciated. Blessings. . .
I loved this cartoon as a kid because Marine Boy was a badass in a fight but what always got me was why the bad guys never bothered to shoot him in the face when they couldn't shoot through his suit.
WOW!! I was 4 in 1968 and for a few years this was my favorite show I used to dream I was him 😂 this is the reasons I bacame a Red cross Life Guard at 11 yrs. I never got out of the water.... Great flash backs....
I so love to watch this interesting cartoon when I was in childhood in 80s. I still remember that I have to go to neigbourhood area to indulge the anime because my home was no a televisyen then. I still loved to watch even the time was sunset. So just imagine I have to watch it at not my home and that time I still a small kid. I so impressed of a handsome marine boy and beautiful mermaid character relationship until I always imagine about them when I alone..I think marine boy was the first superhero Japan that I have seen in TV screen before ultraman, captain future and so on. I am from malaysia
Back To Future hi there! It's good to hear Marine Boy reached Malaysia too 🙂 At least you managed to watch the show in a different area. That's dedication. It's available on DVD these days too so pick up a copy 🙂
I watched this show everyday back in the 70's, along with Speed Racer, Kimba the White Lion, AstroBoy, Ultraman, Johnny Sokko and his giant Robot. On a related sidenote.... I, even as a kid was aware that all the above mentioned cartoons were done in the U.S. by Trans-Lux productions, which would explain why it seemed like some of the voice actors did multiple duty on those shows. The mermaid from Marine Boy sounds EXACTLY like Trixie from Speed Racer ( Corrine Orr, if memory serves me right) and Marine Boy's one sidekick sounds EXACTLY like Pops Racer from Speed Racer. Either way.... thanks for jogging some awesome childhood memories from my 56 year old brain!
@Impalaman1968 You're right! The voice actors did both Marine Boy and Speed Racer but Corinne Orr and Peter Fernandez swapped roles between the two (eg Corinne was the main character in Marine Boy but Peter voiced Speed in Speed Racer) Glad it brought back memories for you 🙂
@@Matropolis Thank you! I thought I was right about the voices. I couldn't recall Peter Fernandez by name but now recall that he was indeed the voice of Speed. 😃
great stuff matman. I must of missed this when you first uploaded. you have got me interested in it. I didnt really know anything about it.... but it looks cool :) and that gum is fooking awesome
In case of any further Speed Racer project in North America, will there be any possibility of Trixie being related to Marine Boy (which would settle her full name Trixie Mariner)?
Thanks Pete, I appreciate that :) Still a few things I need to iron out audio wise but I'm happy with the outcome. Actually going through all these clips has made me excited for the series again! Plenty more Oxygum to come yet!
Curtis Sylvester there was one episode where he was playing American football besides that I can't remember. In cartoons like this, characters rarely change costumes so the viewer can identify with them more
..... and now i'm sat waiting for the next thrilling instalment to the series Mat... Super cool awesome stuff, you know it gets my vote all day long... Don'y forget to share some Oxy-gum my way when your shipment from Japan get in!.. lol.. All the best mate... :O)

I was born 1969 Pennsylvania it was on Tuesday December 2 1969 wphl channel 17 Philadelphia Pennsylvania bring it back on 1975 1976 500 pm came on after ultra man
Curtis Sylvester unfortunately no. They just dive straight in with the adventures. They briefly explain the Ocean Patrol fights crime beneath the sea etc but no origin story
@@Matropolis it's pretty easy to guess it though. Marine Boy is simply the golden age Aquaman (Adam Waterman) or rather his sidekick Neptune Perkins with the saline defficency swapped for a Dentyne fixation because he's also gumshoe...and he's a DC, not a Marvel!
I loved Marine Boy when I was a kid in the 1970's and I often think about it. Thanks Matropolis.

Channel 17 gave me Marine Boy as a 70's kid in Philly!
This song makes me cry. It takes me back to simpler times when I was a little girl...
