Let me tell you the tale of USN Spark of Hope... The third fleet, The Righteous Sword was answering for the plea of the Yaki people on behalf of the Divine Cross Order, the poor souls we're trapped behind enemy and mostly uncharted territory, who once belong to Split race. At Tharka's Ravine XV, fate makes it's turn, as soon the fleet crossed the gate we are meet with countless wreck's of previous fools who dare venture into the cursed Haktivah's Choice gate, i guess "choice", really seems ironic for a pirate faction that chose this system as a home so close by to the gate leading straight to the domain of the hellish machines, the sons of the sins from mankind, the Xenon. Now they are coming to feast on the easy prey that fall in their web, our fleet. I spot several destroyers, countless M and S class ships on the radar... Besides that, the sector is close to a radioactive nebula, wich weakens gradually the shields, clever elaborate trap for a bunch of machine insects. No more time to go back, the only path available now is push forwards, otherwise the fleet would be caught in disarray and would be easy picking for the machine spawns from hell. Full thrust into the engines, and we pass straight to the xenon. Now they are in disarray, trying to organize their fleet in pursuit... Although not everything is fine on our side, to flee from the machines we entered deep into the nebula, even the Tokyo carrier was having problems with their shields. We ordered our fighters, frigates and corvettes to dock in the Tokyo and in the destroyers in order to minimize the damage. The interference of the nebula in our sensors was predicted, so we prepared a scout to try triangulate our position and find a way out of the nebula. The xenon probably knew where to look at for us so we don't have much time... Our scout find out a safe spot between the nebula, but also, more bad news, the xenon has stations all over the sector, filled with ships, and we are right in the middle. Theres was no easy way out, we must fight, even unprepared as we we're. So our strategists prepare a plan, we would do hit and run strikes against some targets in the sector in order to draw the xenon away from the entrances. We decide that the first strike would be in an outpost not much far away from our position, this would draw the machines to that target, and would open a way for the fleet to get out... Things don't work out as planned, the attack was a success, but instead of attract the fleet guarding the gate to Haktivah's Choice, it drew the attention of the fleet guarding the gate leading to an uncharted sector. Our admiral saw this a a sign, faithful as he was, but lacking any temperance to his judgement, decide that it was our duty push forward into that gate. That wouldn't be easy especially with our resources for such endevour diminishing by the minutes. It would take weeks before we would even be able to reach that gate, let alone cross it to ended up God knows where... Even tough our next target had become a priority and a concern, guarding that gate was a replicator hangar, we couldn't cross the gate without bring down that station that we aren't sure if we even have the firepower to do this task. The crew was unrested with the prospect of such operation, but they didn't question the orders. They are willing to die for the order, but just hope it wasn't for nothing. When the attack finally started, we had some initial success manage to destroy the forces protecting the station who were occupied looking for us in the nebula, but the base itself was another monumental task we lost dozens of fighters and a few corvettes trying to bring down the station. Suffering heavy losses wasn't enough to convince our admiral that this was a debacle, maybe the fleet that finally found us could, but i guess it would be too late at this point. Our orders were to take down the destroyers of the xenon our Osaka class destroyer is good and and fast, but even our ship can't deal with four K destroyers, but orders are orders, and it isn't like we have much choice, at this point. I did beg for the admiral to give us additional support, but he refused to listen, so i did what he ask and head straight to the approaching fleet. For our surprise the fleet ignored our ship and pass straight to us. The xenon figured out the plan and didn't follow along... The ensuing battle was horrifying to look at distance while we slowly manuever to go back for the fleet, countless small explosions and occasional bright flashes brighten the empty void contrasting with the nebula. We put all power to the engines while start to pick the desperate radio chat from our pilots... I pick a distant K that jump right behind in with guns blazing, all of sudden the bright flash and energy shockwave hit us, the beast was torn appart. The crew was focused so much in their task that didn't even bother with the admiral ranting in our comms for failing on our task, we didn't expect thanks anyway, we arrive to kill xenon and that's what we're doing. Besides our Destroyer only other one was left, and not for long since it was struggling with tree K''s at once in a desperate fight. We had straight to the to help the poor souls in the Mary's Heart, when we noticed that the Tokyo was fleeing the battle field, unfortunately we didn't have time to dwell on this, and fortunately the Xenon destroyers didn't notice our approach. The Mary's Heart put up a fight and manage to bring down one of the K's before bright the sky like a supernova, but now this means our ship need to fight alone the two monsters. And we did for some time, we manage, to bring down another one, but at great cost. With our shields down and with the other K ready to fire is main guns at us, we need to rely on our speed. I guess in the purely logical minds of the xenon we would flee, but we didn't, instead we manuever straight to it avoiding it's shots while firing or main guns non stop, and when we got close enough we head straight to the K blind spot firing our gus at will. We finally manage to bring down the beast. The Tokyo, was severely damaged but still heading to the gate, and we set course towards it. It was a short victory to celebrate...when the Tokyo arrive at the gate a fleet jumped out of the gate right in front o the Tokyo. With all their weapons firing at it, it become a new sun in the sky in a matter of minutes and now their fleet start to move straight to us. It's hard to explain what happens later since much of it happened outside our isolation in that sector, but essentially, the scattered yaki heard news about our incursion and contacted their allies in other factions, they manage to assemble a massive fleet composed of all races and civilizations in the galaxy and send them to deal with the xenon in Tharka's Ravine XV, we couldn't pick their signals in the nebula, but they manage to overpower the Xenon and head towards our fleet. This is when in or most desperate moment, we start to pick strange yet familiar signals in our sensors. Smaller ones at first then, more and more until it engulfed us, we can see teladi, paranid, split, argonian and even terran ships. A massive ship crossed in front of us, The legendary Terran Asgard, and then we saw the blue bright of its massive bean spinal cannon charging up against the i9 xenon battle cruise. Someone as k us to open the comm channel, and we were meet with an old lady with lots of cybernetics implanted in their face, an Yaki great and thank us for our efforts, she said that if wasn't for our intervention, the yaki wouldn't have a chanc, and the xenon would definitely keep attacking the galaxy unpunished. She said we were their spark of hope.
