I agree 100% I doubt I will be able to do that when I'm 71. But it's also conditioning. He's been training his body to do that 4 so long.. he breathes, sleeps, and even Pee's it. I have never been a big follower of Tommys. But...I will give credit where credit is due. I do like him though. His style & mine are similar in alot of ways. I do alot of playing double bass with flams in between making the intertwining/alternating effect that are good for solos. I have taken it a step further and made it faster and using them as quick fills. Chris Adler does it too.
A true legend which is still not tired and has so much to teach to the next generation of drummers! He made all the bands he played great! An icon in the Rock Universe! Not from this world!
One thing I have learned is that two bass-drums just sound so much better than a double-kick pedal on one. You can't even compare them. Once you get to a certain speed on a double pedal that extra hit is drowned out by the first. The power & attack of your sound just sounds so much better too with two bass drums. And when playing live with a big audience it looks better for the show you are giving for aesthetics. What looks cooler a small kit on stage, or a big kit with a big rack wrapping around it? Just my personal opinion & preference. But it's true about the bass drums.
For me; the Original "Renegade" of Drummers was Ginger Baker! But since he passed, I would say Tommy Aldridge has taken his place. Been a fan since his days with Ozzy Osbourne. Saw him with Whitesnake n had a "Drum Teaching Video" of his. Guy is a Legend! 🤘🏻
A great inspiration. I saw him once at Costco and thought I would go say hi, but then I just left him alone. But then for these several years since I always thought I should’ve said hi, how many people actually know him (other than fellow drummers) and he would probably get a kick out of it. I mean for me/us he is a super famous guy, a legend, a hero, a mentor, etc. But for the average Joe he’s just some dude with long hair. Great solo, thanks for posting !!
@Rob, maybe you are right, but try to do a similar thing, that way without loosing energy, rythm, capacity. he's not lost anything compared to when he was younger
I don't know if anyone clubs the snare quite like Tommy, coming down from overhead. Still not sure if he's hitting in the middle or rimshots. And the hand solo, so cool - Just primal. Please don't hurt those hands on a cymbal.
I have a lot of respect fo him but i heard that solo 40+ years ago. No need for me to hear it again AND again and again. Give me a different one. Thats why i loved Buddy Rich, Ginger Baker. Different solos all the time
Jesus christ almighty ( far for being religious but I like how it emphasize sentences sometimes 😂😂) 😳 71 years old and he still make the shells of his drumkit wobble....
Wow very similar to my drum-rack...must be Gibraltar. Hands down, Gibraltar make the best Racks on the market. They are functional which is imperative, but hot-damn they sure are the prettiest. I can't stand cymbal stands anymore. "ONCE YOU GO RACK, YOU NEVER GO BACK"
Tomy Aldridge is the most musical hard rock drummer still alive. Really he made a very longer and dramatic solo in the early 80s. You have to judge by all his musicalness and not only by a solo. The greatest drummers do short and direct soloes. The sound of Aldridge with the group is fantastic. And, by the way, this is a cell recording and sound is bad.
Every time I watch one of these rock solos it’s the same BS. TA hasn’t grown since the 70s. When I watch Dave Weckl or Vinny or any number of other drummers I cannot understand why anybody posted this video and thinks that it’s entertaining or even good. This is a notch above garage band. 🙄🙄🙄
I insist that all the great drummers use to fix some personal form of solo. This is so in jazz too. Max Roach had done a very personal solo sound and this inspires John Bonham solo and he keep this to the end. And those were not small musicians.
The man is a beast! 71 years beating those drums like a madman!!

Onore all'età e all'energia...ma di tecnico c'è praticamente nulla
I can't believe Tommy is STILL shreddin this f'n hard at 73 years old!
Precision and violence, that's how he plays...I can listen to him play all day. F**kin legend.
Legendary drummer with super hero hair. His passion never takes time off. A true rock star success!!🥁
Super hero hair. Lol! 👍
A true legend which is still not tired and has so much to teach to the next generation of drummers! He made all the bands he played great! An icon in the Rock Universe! Not from this world!
He has been playing the framework of this solo since his days in Black Oak Arkansas in the 1970’s. And it is still AWESOME! Rock on Tommy!
He is probably the most enertaining drummer to watch, when you watch him live, he steals the show. One if not the best hard rock drummer ever.
I had the honor of meeting Tommy the day after a concert in the late 80's and he has got to be THE nicest and humble person I've met💯🤘
yep. over 70 and still beats those shells like they owe him money. Respect.
May we all get on our knees and bow down to a master of his craft!…. Never phones it in, always 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely love this man. At 71 here and the stamina and strength of a twenty something. Un bloody believable
many parts of my solo comes straight from Tommy...loved him since Ozzy....im 53...and still stealing grooves!
Me too !
I was a kid (49 now) and my parents bought me his DVD for Double bass drumming. Fantastic seeing this.
He was born to drum...Fantastic
OMG! Tommy is literally Animal from the muppets. He was insane way back in Black Oak Arkansas days. Great video. Cheers!
He's the last of the ol school power hitters!!!!!
What frightening to me is he is 70+. I saw him about 30+ years ago, same solo, just longer and more of it. The man is a rock God!

Just crazy stamina. My hero!
Tommy never ceases to amaze me. Awesome drummer.
Human Animal on the drums...Incredible!! Keep Rockin Tommy!!🥁🥁🤘👍
That kit is stunning! Tommy is legend!

Should have said "Boom, boom! Out go the lights! Can I buy you a $1.50 hot dog and Coke?"

No way he played on that track? I actually didn’t realize that.

HIS BASS DRUMS HAVE PIERCED NIPPLES
I see why Danny Carey is so inspired by this guy's double bass playing!
Super drummer, legend 🙏❤️🎶🎼🎵🥁🍀✌️👌🇮🇱

Tommy is a beast!!!!!!!
Tommy…..the rock drummer God.
Nah that's Alex
@Rob, maybe you are right, but try to do a similar thing, that way without loosing energy, rythm, capacity. he's not lost anything compared to when he was younger
この、ドラミングで今年72歳、信じられなーい。
ファンタスティック。

Sounds like an idling pro street engine
It's good, but the same solo he's done for over 50 years. I guess if something works, don't change ;-)
I have the same thought
What solo will you be doing in your 70s? The answer is none.
@@JA-io8nx I wasn't being unkind, I think he's amazing. It's a great solo, and he sticks to the plan.
@@fitnessisgood4u HE'S 72!!!!!!
@@JA-io8nx Are you related to the old man in any way? Lol
🤘

Fantastic, this guy has quite a Cadence, virtuoso👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Canavieiras Ba Brasil
I thought they canceled the tour?
Yes I admire him playing with this energy at his age, but he's been doing the same drum solo for 40 years.
My thoughts exactly 😂
He and Joey Kramer from Aerosmith share a lot incomen stylistically. The bare hand soloing being one of them. 😎☮️
I can play nothing but singles at 140 bpm as well.
Jan paice the best
You don’t beat the drums, you play them!
Very 1 dimensional player but boy can he bring it !especially at his age God bless him
yeah..same solo since to 70's. all single stroke. does a good job though.
Find me a better violent hard rock drummer. I'll wait...
Wow...yall think dat sounds Rat...please...he needs to send that trapset 2 me....🤬
Drummers are crazy. Cordenation does not mean music
I think you win the internet’s dumbest comment of the week.

Literally the same solo he's always played zzzz
All of his drum solos sound exactly the same. Boring

Respectfully suggest you stop watching…it’s not mandatory.

He was awesome in BLACK OAK ARKANSAS day to and OZZY DAYS
